Chapter 283 Spoils of Battle
In the battle, Brian used his shield to bash the charging wolves, sending those he struck hurtling into other wolves while simultaneously blocking attacks aimed at his party. He kept moving, positioning himself between the wolves and the front-liners, ensuring they were always protected when needed.
As the front and back lines engaged the wolves, they sliced, bludgeoned, and shot at them, turning the battle in the party's favor. As the fight neared its end, the wolves showed visible signs of injury. Despite their wounds, they persisted, struggling to rise and continue fighting.
The battle was challenging and exhausting for both sides. However, Brian's group emerged victorious. Despite some wolves escaping, it did not concern the party, as they were able to claim the spoils of the battle.
As the excitement subsided and the adrenaline from the battle faded, the pain from the fighters' wounds, especially those of the front-line fighters, began to catch up with the party. Those with more serious injuries sat down and rested. Aleshia volunteered to heal them after Lucia expressed her desire to help. Initially skeptical, the others agreed to let her treat their injuries. Despite their doubts, Aleshia used Lucia's healing abilities and successfully patched them up, healing their gashes and lacerations from bites and claws.
Seeing her wounds closing up, Kelly remarked, "Whatever you did is as good, if not better, than the bog-standard healing potions we can buy."
"Yeah," Stella agreed, her face contorted in a grimace as she recalled a bitter taste. After thanking Aleshia for healing them, the party shifted focus to the dilemma at hand. Unlike the goblins they had defeated, whose only value lay in the crystals embedded in them, the wolves had various valuable parts. Despite this potential windfall, an issue remained. That issue was that the parts would take up too much space.
The party understood their limitations regarding what they could carry, so they discussed what to leave behind. They considered returning later to get the remaining materials, but decided against it. They didn't want to take the risk of returning only to find the corpses missing, as other wildlife would undoubtedly have scavenged them.
During the discussion, Aleshia interrupted and suggested using her bag to carry some of the materials. Initially, the group was hesitant to agree, unsure of how much Aleshia's bag could actually hold. However, they eventually decided to give it a try. To their surprise, the wolves they shoved inside Aleshia's bag fit without any difficulty.
When the party realized they could carry much more, they enthusiastically began harvesting the wolves. Since the wolves were still fresh, they bled them, deepening the cuts they had already made to minimize damage to the pelts. After draining them of blood, the party began harvesting.
