Chapter 320 Gruel or Soup
Eventually, the glow from the magic began to fade. When it reached a brightness that was comfortable to look at, Aleshia lowered her arms, still squinting as the brightness attacked her eyes. As the light grew dimmer, Daniel and Jonah followed suit, lowering their arms. They began blinking several times, trying to adjust to the light that had seeped through their skin. "This seems awfully bright. Are you sure you haven't botched this?" Daniel said, concern tinging his voice.
Jonah was baffled and at a loss for words. However, before he could gather his thoughts and voice his complaints, a groan followed by coughing echoed through the room. "It seems they've woken up," Aleshia announced. "Daniel, can you come over here and help me restrain them? Her body is weak from malnutrition, and there is no doubt that their strength has atrophied. They could harm themselves by flailing around and possibly break something inside."
Daniel nodded and stepped away from Jonah's side. As the girl began to wake up, she groggily opened her eyes and instinctively rubbed them. However, when she lifted her arms, confusion washed over her face. She struggled to speak and move, feeling as if heavy weights were pulling her down. As her mind became more alert, a growing sense of unease took its place.
"Huh," they breathed out in a raspy voice, sounding like a frightened child. Seeing the fear that was taking hold, Aleshia did her best to console them, hoping to calm them down before they harmed themselves. "Please rest assured that you are in safe hands. Try not to move much as I am healing you. Everyone is safe." After repeating these words a few times, it seemed to sink in, and gradually, the girl started to relax.
As Aleshia spoke to the patient, reassuring them, Lucia discreetly channeled her magic, allowing it to flow into the patient's body to aid in rejuvenating their body. "Do you have any gruel or soupy foods that would be easy for someone who hasn't had a hearty meal in a long time?" Aleshia asked Daniel.
Daniel nodded, ensuring the girl was safe from harm, and left the room to prepare what Aleshia had requested. When he returned with some water and a tray of warm food in hand, he noticed that things had progressed fairly well in his absence. The girl Aleshia had been attending to was now sitting up and drinking from the water Aleshia had conjured for them. However, it was still necessary for Daniel to hand over the food and drink he was carrying.
He placed the tray on a nearby table, then dragged it over to the girl's cot. When it seemed they had finished drinking, he began patiently spoon-feeding the warm soup into her mouth.
