Chapter 335 Sudden News
Aleshia tried to remember a moment when she had seen Lucia's maw. Although the details were vague, she recalled that Lucia had a maw back in the labyrinth and again when they encountered the wolves. "Yeah, now that I think about it, you did have a maw," she said. "But the real question is, where does the food even go? It doesn't look like you have a belly or stomach to hold it, since you're hollow inside."
Lucia realized she might not have answered Aleshia's question in the way she wanted. "I don't think I have the same kind of stomach you're imagining, and I can't quite explain it, so let me share my experience instead. When I was in the labyrinth, I explored and tried many different things to understand both myself and my surroundings. During my exploration, I accidentally consumed something I now believe was a form of meat or possibly a monster. As it broke down inside me, I felt a strange sensation. This unfamiliar feeling became something I started to crave, leading me to eat whatever I came across. Before I knew it, there was nothing left to eat; everything was gone by the time I came to my senses," she concluded.
Aleshia was at a loss for words after hearing the brief history and experiences that Lucia had shared, and she felt a deep sympathy for her. "Let's get you something to eat. It won't be any trouble. But first, I want to talk with Daniel about something and to see if he needs us for anything," Aleshia suggested.
Afterward, Aleshia walked over to the door to Daniel's office and knocked twice on the door. After the second knock, she heard a voice say, "Come in." She opened the door to find Rebel sprawled across the desk, while Daniel continued to write documents. As Aleshia entered, Daniel looked up and asked, "Welcome, would you like to help us with these documents, or do you have a question for us?" His tone was tired.
"I've been thinking it's about time for me to leave this camp and explore new places. The kids I've been teaching have learned a lot, and it has been a lot of fun. But, I believe it's time to start making plans to leave this place," Aleshia said.
As Aleshia spoke, Rebel straightened up, looking forlorn. "Are you leaving already? Isn't it better to stay?" she asked, her voice filled with concern. The sudden news felt terrible. "Did we do something wrong?" She shot an accusatory glare at Daniel, who had stopped writing in the documents.
