With no one else to turn to, Beyol Bong Tae-Hwan reached out to Lee Eun-ae, sobbing as he told her about Beyol Joon. He lashed out at no one in particular, asking, "Why is this all happening? What did I or my family ever do to deserve this?"
With tears still pouring down his cheeks, Beyol Tae-Hwan barely managed to get a grip on his outburst. He tried to muster a smile but failed miserably as he said, "Lee Eun-ae, thank you for always being there for me. I know you always have my back."
With a blank expression, Lee Eun-ae listened to Beyol Bong Tae-Hwan. A flash passed through her eyes so quickly it was impossible to name the emotion behind it. Beyol was not sure if he had seen it correctly, but it still sent chills down his spine. He had an ominous presentiment—and for the first time, the friend beside him felt like a stranger.
Lee Eun-ae laughed sarcastically while admiring her manicure. "Why is all this happening, you ask? It is simple. I am tired of you taking everything that should be mine and of being forced to live in your disgusting shadow! It disgusts me that even though you are poor and barely considered middle class, everyone automatically loves you simply because of your looks!"
Beyol Bong Tae-Hwan froze. The woman he had loved like a sister was looking at him with pure, unadulterated venom. For a heartbeat, he could only stand there and stare as the person he trusted most continued to spill hatred.
"You are not even that attractive. You just have unique eyes, and I am sure you use your dominant pheromones to make everyone fall for you! It is disgusting! Everything always seems easy for you. Everything always goes your way. What is so great about you anyway? You are just a disgusting abomination; males are not meant to bear children. It goes against nature! I am only taking back everything that is rightfully mine while eradicating useless pests that keep getting underfoot. Who could ever blame me? Poor people like you really are a stain on society. Also, if you had known your place from the beginning, none of this would have happened, because you never would have dared to dream of or covet things that should never have been yours."
Beyol Bong Tae-Hwan could not help but look at the woman who had been his lifelong friend in disgust as she went on her tangent about male omegas. How had he never seen this side of her? How had he been "friends" with such a crazy, bigoted black lotus and green tea bitch for the past twenty-plus years? 'Why is she doing all this, and what the actual fuck is she talking about? I have never coveted anything except making enough of myself to help support my family. I have always strived to remain humble, and I have never once used my status as a Dominant Omega in any way, let alone to my advantage!'
Lee Eun-ae was too caught up in her own diatribe to notice the look of pure disgust and outrage on Beyol Bong Tae-Hwan's ethereal face. "Now Choi Yongbok will finally notice me without you in the picture trying to seduce him. A man and Dominant Alpha as great as him deserves a real woman anyway! The only reason he even gave you the time of day was because he was putting on an act. Do you not get it yet? He never cared for you at all. In fact, I would bet that he detested being forced to spend time with a disgusting, gold-digging whore like you."
Beyol Bong Tae-Hwan was dumbfounded. Tears streamed silently down his face as he stared at his best friend—no, correction, at the disgusting demon bitch standing in front of him—and wondered how he could ever have been so blind.
"Lee Eun-ae, what did I ever take from you? When have I ever tried to seduce anyone, let alone Choi Yongbok? Please tell me, because I am honestly so confused! I have never even flirted with anyone before. I do not even know how to! I have never done anything but support you and be a good friend. I shared everything I ever had with you! How in hell can you stand there and say I was always coveting things that were yours? I have never asked you for anything!"
Beyol Bong Tae-Hwan was barely holding himself back from screaming at Lee Eun-ae. Somehow, even after everything, he was still standing. Then her words finally settled in. Her problem was not simply that he was a Dominant Omega. Her problem was that he was a male omega.
Beyol Bong Tae-Hwan's left eye twitched as he slowly turned to face his former best friend head-on. "Oh, my galaxies, did you seriously just say that about my gender? I know you cannot be stupid enough to believe male omegas are an abomination. This mutation evolved naturally, so how in the whole galaxy can it not be natural? I cannot believe you are one of those twisted bigots. I honestly never knew you, did I?"
At this point, Beyol Bong Tae-Hwan felt numb. He could not believe he had allowed this wolf in sheep's clothing to get close to not only him but his family as well. He had trusted her and allowed her into his home, only for her to turn around and harm not just him but his whole family. For the first time in his life, he felt hatred toward someone—himself first, and Lee Eun-ae close behind. He hated himself for ever being friends with this woman.
"You have been taking what should have been my spotlight since middle school. You took all my roles in drama club and all my academic awards. I was supposed to be at the top of the class. All the boys, and even the girls, in middle school, high school, and university flocked to you and fawned over you! Do not try to act as if you did not know." Lee Eun-ae said all this while red as a strawberry, her whole body shaking from the rage burning inside her.
Beyol Bong Tae-Hwan could not help but scream, "I did not know! I only ever focused on my grades and drama club! I had to work my ass off to earn scholarships for both high school and university! I did not have the luxury to even think of someone else in a romantic way. For fuck's sake, I have never even had a damn crush on anyone! In all honesty, I could not even tell you what flirting looks like!"
Lee Eun-ae was so far gone into her delusions about all the supposed wrongs Beyol Tae-Hwan had committed against her that even years of therapy would not have reached her.
"Oh, you asked when you tried to seduce Choi Yongbok? Though you already know, I will refresh your suddenly sloppy memory. It was three months ago at the audition for the new drama by Director Park Ha-Joon! You were supposed to be there supporting me, but once again, you could not help being a shameless slut and tried to get his attention by smiling at him, batting your eyelashes, and acting coy.
If that was not bad enough, just four short weeks later, you were flirting with him again in a café at the studio where The Chef and The Celebrity was being filmed! You were all smiles and giggles as you sat and talked. You can claim it was all about the show, but anyone could tell that is a fucking lie!
You knew I have been in love with him since we were in high school! Yet you just had to try to take him from me, just as you always take everything I want! It is not fair. What right does a person who is not even a real man have to be prettier than me? Why anyone would be interested in a freak like you is beyond me! A man who can give birth is not only disgusting—it is a damn abomination!
"I knew that a disgusting, fucking filthy vixen like you would never stop. All you are good for is being a mistress! Still, I would never allow my mate to be with a disgusting male omega when he has the real deal with me!" Lee Eun-ae laughed as if she had not just finished spouting hatred and a distorted version of what truly happened.
Beyol Bong Tae-Hwan could not believe the visceral venom pouring out of Lee Eun-ae. His mind reeled as every accusation struck him at breakneck speed. He remembered the café meeting she mentioned, but it had only been about work, and he had been nervous the entire time. How was this vicious viper the same person who had called herself his best friend since middle school? How had he been so blind? Was he truly so naive that this black lotus, green tea bitch had deceived him all these years? The weight of it all pressed heavily on his heart. If it were not for him, his family never would have been dragged into this.
Just when Beyol Bong Tae-Hwan thought Lee Eun-ae was finally done spewing hatred and excuses, she launched into another deranged monologue.
"The reason there are so few females is because males are meant to work harder to pass on better genes," Lee Eun-ae said with so much arrogance that it rivaled that one psycho, toad-looking lady who was obsessed with the color pink and cats from that classic, worldwide-popular wizard-world book from Ancient Earth.
'What was the name of that character again? It rhymed with Balorus Cumberbridge. Oh well, it is not important right now. Focus, Beyol Bong Tae-Hwan. Now is not the time for trivial things. You need to focus on what she is saying, no matter how much you do not want to!' he told himself as he turned his full attention back to Lee Eun-ae.
Lee Eun-ae truly looked deranged as she continued to monologue, seemingly oblivious to everything around them. "I would rather he take a male beta as a mistress than the abomination that is every male omega! But that will not happen either, because I will never allow it. He can only be mine and no one else's! If I cannot have him, then no one will!" She cackled as she finished yelling the last bit.
She sneered as she went on, "I knew I had to get rid of you so thoroughly that you could never crawl your way out of it like the disgusting roach you are. So, I started by taking away everything you hold dear, just as you did to me. It was all too easy; money can buy anything. First, I paid for the water armies and all those smear campaigns against you.
Starnetizens are so stupid. It was all too easy to fire them up and make them hate you the way they always should have. Once Choi Yongbok's sasaeng stans found out that a Dominant Omega had been paired with their god, the Movie Emperor, they were quick to act. It did not matter if you were innocent or not; they were happy to believe anything negative I told them about you.
It did not take much for a couple of other artists to believe me and for them to start spreading news too. With their fans doing most of the work, I did not have to spend as much money hiring water armies as I had expected. Once the tide of public opinion was against you, I just had to make sure that there was enough smoke so that all those stupid people on the internet could not see through to the truth.
Everyone was so eager to jump on board and crucify you that no one even tried to fact-check. How sad for you. Anyway, you were still hanging on somehow, so I doxed your family. I wanted you out of my city, never to return, and I knew you would never go without them. Then I realized that still was not enough. I was still angry about all those years, and I simply was not appeased. So, I realized that I would only be truly happy when you were dead and forgotten." She looked beyond deranged at this point. In fact, she looked possessed.
With a trembling voice, Beyol Bong Tae-Hwan looked up at Lee Eun-ae and asked, "So, if I die, will you stop going after my family?"
