The doctor left with the nurses, and Steward Lawson closed the door but did not leave.
Nan Mufeng was extremely surprised and looked at Lawson. Lawson was over sixty this year, from the royal court; though a servant, he carried a certain aristocratic air.
"You're still not leaving?" Nan Mufeng asked. He remained on guard against everyone in the Prince's Mansion.
"This is Miss Jianxi's room," Steward Lawson said.
Nan Mufeng paused for a second, then began to size up the surroundings.
It was a large bedroom with an en suite bathroom. A white long-pile carpet was spread over the windowsill, and there were a table and chairs under the window, all in a luxurious European court style.
"There's no surveillance in the bedroom," Steward Lawson added.
He was deliberately hinting something to Nan Mufeng.
Nan Mufeng relaxed his guard and nodded at Steward Lawson.
"Before Miss Jianxi comes back, you can stay here. It's safe. However, you need to be on guard against Miss Cassie."
