Wufu's sudden stumble startled everyone, especially Scholar Gong, who froze. But how could Wufu really fall forward? Just as she staggered, Mo Lan quickly caught her.
"Miss, be careful," Mo Lan said, pulling Wufu back.
Wufu's face flushed red as she looked down at the small stone by her feet, speaking with a hint of embarrassment and annoyance, "This place is so uneven." She glanced at Scholar Gong, her expression somewhat regretful and shy.
Jadeite and Mo Lan found it strange, yet they remained expressionless, guessing that the young lady's action had a deeper meaning.
Scholar Gong seemed somewhat uneasy as well, moving aside and cupping his hands, "Please go ahead, Miss."
"Thank you, sir." Wufu nodded shyly and walked forward, saying, "Let's leave early tomorrow morning. Mother should be arriving soon. She'll certainly be happy to see me picking her up at the dock."
"Indeed, Miss is right."
Scholar Gong nodded as he listened, blinking before turning around to leave.
