Chapter 1234 - Not a Moment's Rest

Translator: CinderTL

"What does that Master want with this demon?" Song Wen asked.

"What else could it be?" Yan Tong replied with undisguised disdain. "To satisfy their twisted desires, of course."

Song Wen's lips twitched slightly at this.

Having witnessed the power of Wei Gu's Black Wolf Void Demon, he had initially assumed the so-called Master sought to control a void fiend as a trump card. He never imagined it was for carnal lust.

Yet Bu Ren, who had always seemed impatient and lecherous, shot Yan Tong a dark, brooding glare upon hearing this.

"Hold your tongue," Manager Yin warned sternly. "Speak carelessly, and you'll invite disaster upon yourself."

Yan Tong ignored the warning, turning to leave the courtyard.

"Farewell, everyone. Until we meet again in three days," he said as he walked away.

"Then I'll take my leave as well," Song Wen said, cupping his hands in farewell to the remaining three before following Yan Tong out of the courtyard.

As Song Wen exited the courtyard, he noticed Bu Ren had followed him out.

Both Bu Ren and Yan Tong were staying at the Moon-Drawing Pavilion.

Returning directly to his own courtyard, Song Wen entered his room, sat cross-legged on the low couch, and began meditating to regulate his breathing.

The blazing sun retreated, and night descended.

That night, a sudden knock echoed at the courtyard gate.

"Why would Feng Youyou come here in the dead of night?"

As Song Wen muttered to himself, he swiftly moved to the courtyard gate and opened it.

"Fellow Daoist Feng, what brings you to my humble abode at this late hour?"

"What, Fellow Daoist Ji, won't you invite me in to sit for a while?" Feng Youyou's eyes flickered with a hint of seductive charm as she met Song Wen's gaze.

"Please, come in quickly," Song Wen said, gesturing her inside.

He led her into the small courtyard and was about to invite her to sit at the stone table when she spoke.

"The night is deep, the dew heavy, and the wind cold. How could you bear to let a frail woman like me sit outside, exposed to the chilling breeze?"

"My apologies for the oversight. Please, come inside," Song Wen replied.

Once inside, Feng Youyou glanced around the room before saying, "Fellow Daoist Ji, please close the door and activate the restriction formation."

Song Wen complied without hesitation, following her instructions. Then he asked, "Fellow Daoist Feng, what urgent matter brings you here so late?"

Feng Youyou leaned forward slightly, bringing her face closer to Song Wen's. She gazed at him with a radiant smile.

"Fellow Daoist Song, the long night stretches before us, unbearably lonely. I came alone. What else could I possibly want?"

As she spoke, her slender hand brushed lightly across her chest, lowering the already low-cut bodice by another inch, revealing even more of her dazzlingly white skin.

A faint smile curved Song Wen's lips. He reached out to pull Feng Youyou into his arms, but she sidestepped him with practiced ease.

"Fellow Daoist Ji, don't be so impatient," Feng Youyou said sweetly. "I still have something to tell you."

Song Wen raised an eyebrow, sensing the real purpose of their meeting was about to be revealed.

Feng Youyou, Manager Yin, Bu Ren, and Yan Tong were all seasoned schemers. Compared to them, even Bai Wei, a Body Integration Stage cultivator, seemed almost naive.

Perhaps concerned that the courtyard's inherent formation might not completely block prying eyes, Feng Youyou activated an additional soundproof barrier, enveloping the entire house.

With these precautions in place, she gracefully walked to the wooden table in the room, sat down, picked up the teapot and a teacup, poured herself a cup of tea, took a sip, and then spoke slowly.

"This mission to capture the Beauty Snake is not as simple as Manager Yin made it out to be."

"What makes you say that?" Song Wen asked, settling into the seat opposite her.

Feng Youyou replied, "It's true that some twisted individuals among the sects and noble families enjoy toying with rare and bizarre things. However, such perversions are universally condemned. Exposure would bring them utter disgrace and ruin. These sects and families value their reputations above all else. Therefore, if a powerful figure truly desired the Beauty Serpent, they would never entrust the task to outsiders. They would either personally seek it out themselves or send their most trusted confidants. They would never casually hire a group of strangers for such a sensitive matter."

"Fellow Daoist, are you suggesting this bounty mission is a sham?" Song Wen asked. "Does Manager Yin have ulterior motives?"

"The mission itself is likely genuine," Feng Youyou replied. "My suspicion is that the Beauty Serpent isn't actually on Changtong Mountain. The Master probably went there himself but failed to find it. Given the Primordial Qi Death Zone's inherent dangers, he's unwilling to risk his own life and was forced to issue this bounty."

"So, you're saying this mission is... like searching for a needle in a haystack?" Song Wen asked.

"Precisely," Feng Youyou confirmed.

"But if they're offering such a staggering reward—100,000 high-grade spirit stones—the mission can't be that simple. Aren't you overthinking this?" Song Wen countered.

"Caution is the key to survival," Feng Youyou insisted. "We must not let our guard down. I came here tonight to propose a gentleman's agreement: we'll watch each other's backs in the Primordial Qi Death Zone and overcome these challenges together. What do you say, Fellow Daoist?"

"I couldn't ask for anything more," Song Wen replied. "I know very little about the Primordial Qi Death Zone. Having your assistance would be invaluable."

Hearing this, Feng Youyou's eyes sparkled with a captivating smile.

With a swift movement, she circled the wooden table, pressed herself into Song Wen's arms, and settled onto his lap.

Her crimson lips brushed against his ear as she whispered, her breath as fragrant as orchids.

"Fellow Daoist, your straightforwardness deserves a proper reward. I only wonder if you'll find my humble appearance too plain?"

Song Wen lowered his gaze to the soft breasts so close to him, then wrapped his arm around her slender waist.

"Fellow Daoist, your charm is undeniable. Am I truly such a boor as to be unmoved by your allure?"

As he spoke, Song Wen lifted her from the wooden chair and carried her toward the low couch.

Giggle...

Feng Youyou let out a silvery laugh, then pressed her crimson lips fiercely against Song Wen's mouth.

The next morning, Song Wen reclined on a low couch, watching Feng Youyou dress. "Fellow Daoist Feng," he asked, "it's barely past dawn. The sky is still dark. Why are you in such a hurry to leave?"

Feng Youyou's cheeks flushed slightly, the lingering warmth of the night still lingering. She glanced at Song Wen, her eyes carrying a hint of reproach.

"There's plenty of time ahead. Why be greedy for a fleeting moment? We're about to depart for the Primordial Qi Death Zone, and I have matters to attend to."

With that, she floated toward the door. Just as she reached for the handle, she paused and turned back to Song Wen.

"Fellow Daoist Ji, don't forget our gentleman's agreement."

"Rest assured, Fellow Daoist Feng," Song Wen replied. "Ji Lin always keeps his word. Besides, even without an agreement, I couldn't stand by and watch a beauty like you, with your moon-like face and flower-like grace, fall into danger without lifting a finger."

Feng Youyou smiled sweetly, revealing a row of pearly white teeth.

"Oh, and be wary of Bu Ren. His origins are shrouded in mystery—he's never been seen in Yangshi City before. Yesterday was only the second time I've encountered him."

"Thank you for the warning, Fellow Daoist Feng. I'll be extra cautious," Song Wen said.

Feng Youyou nodded slightly, then turned and left the room, departing the courtyard without another word.

As her figure vanished beyond the courtyard gate, Song Wen closed both the gate and the room door. Then, within his Sea of Consciousness, he spoke.

"Shadow Void, track her movements."

As he spoke, Song Wen opened his Sea of Consciousness, allowing Shadow Void to probe the outside world.

After a moment, Shadow Void reported, "She's returned to her courtyard."

"Huh! Why is she leaving again?"

"She's knocking on the courtyard gate of another residence."

"The gate opened—it's Bu Ren!"

"They've both entered the courtyard."

At this point, Song Wen interjected, "Can you monitor the situation inside the courtyard?"

"Yes," Shadow Void replied.

"Listen to what they're saying," Song Wen instructed.

Shadow Void didn't respond immediately. After waiting for about the time it takes to brew half a cup of tea, it finally reported, "She's making some kind of gentleman's agreement with Bu Ren, promising mutual support in the Primordial Qi Death Zone. She also warned him to be wary of you, Master, claiming your origins are unclear."

"Bu Ren tore her clothes, and they tumbled onto the bed."

Hearing this, Song Wen suddenly recalled that his meeting with Feng Youyou, Manager Yin, and the other four men in Feng Youyou's courtyard had taken place in the morning.

After concluding their business, he, Bu Ren, and Yan Tong had left almost simultaneously, leaving only Feng Youyou and Manager Yin behind.

Yet Feng Youyou hadn't come to find him until nightfall.

Could it be that during that time, Feng Youyou had...

This woman never has a moment's peace!
