After suffering a Sludge Bomb attack from Muk, Beedrill's wings and face were coated in toxic mud. It fell directly from the air, its vision completely obscured.
"Body Slam!" Ash ordered, seizing the opportunity before him.
"Muuuk!"
Muk let out a deep, rumbling sound after hearing the command. It then expanded its entire body before launching itself into the air, spreading out like a massive net as it descended.
"Beedrill, get out of the way!" Jeanette shouted when she saw what was happening.
However, at this moment, Beedrill had sludge coating its wings and its vision was impaired—it had no idea which direction to dodge.
Boom!
The next instant, there was a tremendous crash as Muk's entire mass slammed into the ground. The impact kicked up a massive cloud of dust, and the surrounding grass was blown back by the shockwave of Muk's landing.
After a moment, calm returned to the field. Everyone's eyes were fixed on the battlefield. The smoke slowly dissipated, revealing only Muk lying on the ground.
It seemed that due to the excessive force of its descent, Muk's body had been flattened into a pancake-like shape.
"Beedrill!" There was no sign of Beedrill anywhere on the field—it was obviously pinned beneath Muk. Jeanette called out with worry in her voice.
"Muuuk!"
At that moment, Muk made another deep sound. Its body slowly began reconstituting itself, and as it did, everyone could see it lifting its mass upward.
As Muk raised its body, the grass beneath revealed a deep crater. Beedrill was embedded in the ground in an awkward position, its body joints clearly forced into unnatural angles from being crushed.
"Beedrill is unable to battle! Muk wins the first round!" Seeing this outcome, the commentator's voice rang out across the arena.
Roar!
The crowd erupted in cheers.
"It's incredible! I didn't expect that the first time cooperating with Ash in battle, Muk would perform so well!" Misty couldn't help but comment from her seat in the audience.
"After all, it was the boss of all the Grimer in Celadon City back then, plus it received training at Mount Hideaway, combined with Ash's commands! But that guy Ash really doesn't know how to hold back at all!" Brock analyzed, though his final statement came with an exasperated expression.
The two girls beside him were too tired to respond after hearing this. This guy couldn't say anything without bringing up attractive women somehow.
Pallet Town
"Just as expected from Ash's Muk! Once you get entangled with it, escape becomes nearly impossible!" Professor Oak remarked, watching the television in his laboratory.
In his heart, he unconsciously recalled the fear of being dominated by Muk's affection. He had experienced it personally—if you were caught or pinned by Muk, escape was extremely difficult.
Jeanette frowned as she raised her Poké Ball and recalled Beedrill. She genuinely hadn't expected that the humble-looking Muk could be so powerful. Her Beedrill hadn't been able to mount any effective offense whatsoever.
"The rest is up to you! Go, Scyther!"
After recalling Beedrill, Jeanette threw her Poké Ball again. A sharp, imposing figure materialized on the field—Scyther's green coloring seemed to blend seamlessly with the grassy terrain.
"Jeanette's second Pokémon is Scyther! Scyther possesses excellent offensive capabilities. Does it have what it takes to defeat Muk?" the commentator wondered aloud.
Looking at the second Pokémon Jeanette had sent out, Scyther had always given people an impression of power among Bug-type Pokémon.
Especially its pair of scythes were particularly intimidating. However, after witnessing the first battle just moments ago, no one could be certain whether Scyther's offensive abilities would prove a match for Muk.
"Her second one is also a Bug-type Pokémon!" Misty observed.
Although Misty was no longer afraid of Bug-type Pokémon, she was somewhat surprised to see Jeanette, a girl, send out two Bug-type Pokémon consecutively.
Since Misty had once been terrified of them herself, she had always been under the impression that most girls feared Bug-type Pokémon.
"That's Scyther! It looks really powerful," Yellow said, seeing the Mantis Pokémon for the first time. Just from its appearance alone, it looked like it excelled in combat.
"Scyther, use Cut!"
As soon as her Pokémon was released, Jeanette took the initiative to attack. Upon hearing the command, Scyther immediately rushed toward Muk.
A light blue glow flashed along its blade-like arms, and its sprinting speed was remarkable. This velocity was something Muk couldn't match—Scyther closed the distance in the blink of an eye.
"Take the hit!" Ash still didn't have Muk dodge, but continued to let it withstand the attack head-on.
After Muk heard the instruction, it followed Ash's order and remained in place. When Scyther's blade slashed down, it struck Muk's body directly.
However, the moment the blade made contact with Muk's body, Muk's form simply compressed inward, and Scyther's scythe sank deeply into the gelatinous mass.
It appeared as though Muk had suffered a serious blow, yet its expression remained unchanged, as if it felt no pain whatsoever.
"What?! Scyther's Cut didn't work either!" the commentator exclaimed in surprise at the scene.
"Grab it!" Ash commanded immediately upon seeing the opening.
After hearing the instruction, Muk raised both of its arms and attempted to embrace Scyther. Seeing this development, Jeanette was alarmed. Having witnessed what happened to Beedrill just moments ago, she knew that under no circumstances could she allow Muk to catch Scyther.
"Scyther, get away!"
Slash!
After all, Scyther was a top-tier Bug-type Pokémon. It was considerably stronger than Beedrill in terms of power, and its speed was also superior.
It quickly withdrew its mantis blade and leaped backward. Muk, on the other hand, moved much more slowly. It had originally intended to grab Scyther, but the Mantis Pokémon still managed to escape its grasp.
"Sludge Bomb!"
Watching Scyther retreat, Ash called out his next move. After Muk heard the command, it immediately opened its mouth wide and inhaled, then expelled a barrage of toxic sludge projectiles.
"Don't even think about it! Scyther, use Double Team!"
Having already learned her lesson, Jeanette was clearly prepared this time. After Scyther jumped back and landed, its body swayed slightly, and then multiple identical figures scattered across the field.
The sludge attack struck one of the figures, and that image vanished instantly. Then several more figures appeared simultaneously, surrounding Muk from multiple angles.
