After a few more rounds of the volleyball game, Esdeath began to slow down. Her breathing grew heavier, and sweat rolled down the side of her face. She brushed her black hair away and wiped her forehead with the back of her hand.
"You guys keep playing," she said, her voice calm but clearly tired. "I'll rest for a while."
Lortell, who was on the opposite side of the court, immediately straightened up. "I should rest too," she said casually, stepping away right after Esdeath.
The others didn't mind. They were having too much fun to notice. They quickly switched up the teams—Ravenna, Alice, and Selene on one side, and Maruti with Kailith on the other—and continued their game with cheerful shouts and laughter.
Esdeath started walking toward the lounge area, intending to find an empty lounger to lie down on. But when she looked ahead, she froze for a moment.
Just a few meters away, Lortell was already there—lying comfortably on a large beach lounger that seemed perfectly sized for her tall frame. She even had sunglasses on and looked as though she'd been relaxing for hours.

"Okay, let's play! I was feeling kinda sweaty anyway!" Maruti added immediately, always eager for more fun.
At once, everyone agreed to play water polo. Since their bodies were already covered in sweat, they knew they would only feel refreshed by going into the water again.
For a second, Lortell felt like bringing up her subject again, but then she exhaled slightly and smiled, a gentle, knowing smile. "You go play. I'll be there in a few minutes," she said calmly, like she had completely forgotten about the topic.
"Okay!" Esdeath nodded and ran towards Maruti and the others to play, her movements quick and full of energy.
