Chapter 689 - "Chapter 688: The Last Hunt."

Alex, Alucard, and Doll stood not far from the burning Hunter's Workshop. The reason the workshop had caught fire was quite simple and even symbolic. Gehrman himself had set it ablaze, as he always did, to let the hunters know that their hunt was over and they no longer needed to prepare for the next one.

Alex had thought that Gehrman would come to his senses when he realized the previous cycle had been broken and saw that Maria had managed to escape her nightmare. But all of Gehrman's subsequent actions only drew a long, heavy sigh from Alex. Until the very end, Alex had wanted to believe that Gehrman would accept Maria's offer. But, as Gehrman himself had said, he was simply an old fool.

Alex, Doll, and Alucard did not need to move from their spot to see what was happening in the garden behind the blazing workshop. They could clearly see how the battle between Maria and Gehrman had begun, where Gehrman, still faithful to his old beliefs, believed that only by dying in the dream could one truly awaken.

Listening to Gehrman's words, Alex made no comment and saw no point in doing so. From their very first meeting, Alex had seen that the fire of hope had long since died in Gehrman's eyes. And that this old Hunter would still act according to his own ways.

Stopping watching Gehrman and Maria, Alex shifted his gaze to Alucard, who also saw no point in saying anything. For her, Gehrman had ceased to be interesting the moment she saw his eyes. And from that moment on, Gehrman had ceased to exist in Alucard's eyes, becoming nothing more than an empty space to her.

Not wanting to miss the battle between Gehrman and Maria, Alex turned his gaze back to the garden. Standing behind Doll, Alex rested his chin on top of her head, carefully watching the fight in case he needed to intervene. Alex couldn't help but notice that Gehrman was holding back while fighting against Maria.

Continuing to observe the battle, Alex understood why Gehrman was restraining himself. He still subconsciously did not want to hurt the one he considered his daughter. Throughout the entire battle, Gehrman continued to urge Maria to stop and let him wake her. And only toward the end of the fight did Alex understand what Gehrman was trying to achieve.

Gehrman had decided to choose his own path to freedom. He had believed Maria's words from the very beginning, and their battle had simply been a way to say a proper goodbye. Alex couldn't help but sigh at the fact that Gehrman had chosen to leave the Hunter's Dream under such conditions — dying at the hands of the one he considered his daughter.

"Truly an old fool. But I can understand him…" Alex said, shaking his head as he watched Maria and Gehrman's battle.

"Indeed… an old fool. At least in the very end, he stopped being a dog…" Alucard said, nodding slightly.

"The Dream imprisoned him, but it never broke him… And in the end, he will see the light of dawn once more… I pray that he finds his peace in the real world," Doll said, clasping her hands in prayer after seeing Gehrman's death.

Hearing Doll's prayer, Alex did not intend to say anything. Gehrman had indeed been broken — physically and mentally. And only in the very end had he chosen his own path to leave this place. Sighing, Alex took a step and disappeared from his spot. In the next moment, Alex appeared on the flower field where the battle itself had taken place.

Appearing beside Maria, Alex hugged her tightly, pressing her against himself. He understood that Maria needed comfort right now more than anyone else. Gripping Alex's coat, Maria was able to understand what Gehrman had been trying to achieve. But his death still caused her pain.

Stroking Maria's back, Alex looked at the dead Gehrman, who had died with a smile of relief on his face. Alex wanted to continue comforting Maria, but he saw Gehrman's body beginning to turn to ash as the atmosphere in the garden began to change, becoming darker and more oppressive.

"There he is, the last one finally came out…" Alex said, sensing how the surrounding atmosphere had changed.

Even while immersed in grief, Maria heard Alex's words and felt the environment itself shift. Sharply turning her head back, Maria saw that Gehrman's body had disappeared, leaving only his weapon and the Old Hunter Badge in the shape of a monster's fang that Gehrman had always worn around his neck.

The atmosphere in the garden changed very quickly, and behind Alex and Maria, a large red moon rose, appearing so close that one could reach out and touch the Red Moon. Alex and Maria stared at the risen Red Moon, which distorted the very space around it with its mere presence. Maria gripped Alex's hand tighter, feeling the suffocating pressure on her body that made it hard to breathe.

"I'll handle the rest myself, Maria…" Alex said, placing his hand on her shoulder.

"I'll wait for you, my Hunter," Maria said, nodding and not intending to interfere in a battle of this scale.

"Don't worry, my dear Maria. I'll beat all the shit out of this bastard for you… Before he dies," Alex said, baring his teeth in a predatory smile.

Hearing Alex's words, Maria smiled slightly and nodded. Patting Maria on the shoulder, Alex sent her over to Alucard and Doll so he wouldn't be distracted during the battle with the Moon Presence. Left alone, Alex bent down and picked up the Old Hunter Badge that had belonged to Gehrman.

Looking at the badge, Alex smiled slightly and put it around his neck. Moving his neck a little, Alex kicked up Gehrman's scythe with his foot and swung it a couple of times to get used to it. Placing the scythe on his shoulder, Alex stared at the Red Moon, feeling an unknown presence drawing closer. Sensing the Moon Presence's approach, Alex couldn't hide the smile on his face.

The Moon Presence had decided to appear only at the moment when all its plans had completely collapsed, and Gehrman's death became the final point that forced the Moon Presence to finally reveal itself. A moment later, a small dark silhouette appeared against the background of the Red Moon and began slowly approaching the garden.

The closer the silhouette got, the more puzzled Alex became. The silhouette slowly descended onto the flower field, and Alex tilted his head to the side, not understanding what he was seeing. Instead of the horrifying monster he had expected, a tall male figure dressed in black Hunter clothing landed on the flower field.

The man was wearing the same black Hunter attire as Alex. Alex understood that this man was the Moon Presence, who had taken human form. Half of the Moon Presence's face was hidden by a mask, and his hat was pulled down over his eyes, preventing Alex from seeing his face clearly.

"Things are getting much more interesting… Decided to play Hunter, didn't you, lunar prick," Alex said, lighting a cigarette and narrowing his eyes at the Moon Presence.

"Play?… Ah, yes. This really is a game. It was a long and fascinating game with my relatives," the Moon Presence replied in a calm tone, raising its gaze to Alex.

When the Moon Presence lifted its head, its nearly white face with bright yellow eyes became visible. Alex couldn't restrain the smile on his face. Exhaling cigarette smoke, Alex tapped the scythe on his shoulder, carefully studying the Moon Presence.

The more Alex looked, the more interesting it became to him. Bringing the cigarette to his lips, Alex took another drag while continuing to stare at the Moon Presence. While Alex observed his opponent, the Moon Presence stared back. Slowly, the Moon Presence drew a Saw Cleaver and a Hunter Pistol from behind its back. Seeing this, Alex narrowed his eyes slightly.

"Unlike the other bastards, you're the most talkative one. Before we start playing, would you like to share your plans?" Alex said, pointing his glowing cigarette at the Moon Presence.

"Plan? There was no plan… I had only one goal," the Moon Presence said calmly, holding its weapons.

"Goal? And what is your goal? How are you different from the others? Creating a cycle and interfering with the rest? Or enjoying how people repeatedly experience the same nightmare night?" Alex asked, leaning on his scythe.

"Heh… Everything is much more prosaic, Hunter. I don't care about this dimension at all. It served me for only one purpose. Even my so-called relatives were nothing more than stepping stones to achieve my goal. Kos, Mensis, Mergo, and that abandoned creature Ibraitas. All of them were merely tools to achieve my goal," the Moon Presence said in a mocking tone, slowly shaking its head.

"So that's it… Interesting. So your goal in creating the cycle of the Night of the Great Hunt is quite simple. So simple that even those trash didn't understand what you were aiming for. I see, I see. And judging by how you're dressed, it's all about the Hunt. Am I right?" Alex said, slowly stroking his chin without taking his eyes off the Moon Presence.

"Correct. It's all about the hunt. Being born in the real dimension? Reincarnation? All of that is meaningless and uninteresting. While those idiots tried to seize this dimension, I wanted only one thing. I was waiting for worthy prey. Cycle after cycle, I found new hunters and brought them here. Time and again, I started a new cycle. But they all turned out to be useless and broke. None of them could get past my gardener," the Moon Presence said, shaking its head in complete disappointment.

Leaning on the scythe, Alex watched the Moon Presence as it explained the reason for its actions. And this truly surprised Alex. Unlike the other Great Ones, the Moon Presence's goal was completely different. While the other Great Ones fought for this world, the Moon Presence played by its own rules, even deceiving its own kind.

Alex placed his hand over his mouth to hide his wide smile. He certainly hadn't expected this when he came to this world and when he heard Yog's words that the children of the Outer Gods were behind everything, having decided to fight for territory. But the Moon Presence had used its own kind to fatten up prey for its hunt.

The situation amused Alex so much that his smile grew so wide he could barely hide it. Every Hunter who had ended up in this place was nothing more than livestock being fattened and trained so that a hunt could begin on them. After all, prey without a will is not as interesting as prey that can fight back.

"I admit, your action is interesting. If you don't want to search for worthy prey, just grow it. And you had all the conditions for that. Using the blood of the other Great Ones to fatten your prey… How wonderful," Alex said, continuing to cover his mouth with his palm.

"Correct… All of this was for this moment. I was waiting for you. You broke the entire cycle and killed them… This is exactly what I was waiting for. You are worthy prey," the Moon Presence said, pointing its Saw Cleaver at Alex.

Alex's eyes widened in surprise. He hadn't expected anyone to decide to make him their prey for a hunt. Alex could no longer hold back and burst into loud laughter. His loud and insane laughter echoed throughout the garden, reverberating in all directions. In a fit of mad laughter, Alex threw his head back, holding his face with his hands.

The Moon Presence, watching the laughing Alex, felt something inside it twitch. For a moment, it seemed that in this situation, it was the one who was the prey. Gradually, Alex's insane laughter began to subside. Alex lowered his head and looked at the Moon Presence with a wide, toothy smile. Alex breathed deeply, restraining his inner urge.

"This is a first for me… It's such a unique feeling. I can't put it into words… But you know… You've intrigued me. Let's play your game," Alex said, grabbing Gehrman's scythe and resting it on his shoulder.

"This is what I've been waiting for. Show me what you're capable of, Hunter. Don't disappoint me," the Moon Presence said, jerking its hand and unfolding the Saw Cleaver.

"Those are my words, lunar prick. I hope you'll be more interesting than the others," Alex said, detaching the blade from the scythe and putting the handle behind his back.

In response to Alex's words, the Moon Presence only smiled under its mask and abruptly charged forward. Alex decided to play along with the Moon Presence a little and see how it would fight. Gripping the curved blade in his hand, Alex charged forward. Alex and the Moon Presence met in the center of the flower field and immediately struck at each other.

The curved blade and the Saw Cleaver's edge collided in the air, scattering sparks in all directions. From the first blow, Alex immediately understood the limits of the Moon Presence's physical strength and began to match it. Alex and the Moon Presence continued to press against each other with such force that the ground beneath them began to sink. The Moon Presence raised the hand holding the pistol, aiming the barrel at Alex's stomach.

Alex quickly drew his own pistol and flipped it in his hand, grabbing it by the barrel. Holding the pistol by the barrel, Alex struck the Moon Presence's pistol barrel with the butt. From such a blow, the Moon Presence's arm jerked downward, and it fired the pistol at Alex's feet.

As soon as the shot rang out, Alex quickly flipped the pistol in his hand and fired back at the Moon Presence. At the very last moment, the Moon Presence jerked to the side, avoiding the shot. The quicksilver bullet passed through the Moon Presence's cloak.

Not giving the Moon Presence a chance to recover, Alex rushed forward, delivering a wide upward slash with the Burial Blade. The Moon Presence smirked and struck downward, not allowing Alex to seize the initiative. The two weapons collided again, sending sparks flying in all directions.

Smirking, Alex gripped the Burial Blade's handle and thrust forward. The Moon Presence intercepted the strike with its Saw Cleaver, deflecting the Burial Blade's edge to the side. Having deflected Alex's strike, the Moon Presence folded the Saw Cleaver and, using its compact mode, delivered a wide slash, aiming for Alex's neck. Tilting his head back to avoid the neck strike, Alex raised his pistol and fired at the Saw Cleaver's blade.

From the bullet's impact, the Saw Cleaver was knocked upward. At that same moment, Alex grabbed the Burial Blade in a reverse grip and spun in place, delivering a spinning strike. The Burial Blade's edge nearly grazed the Moon Presence's stomach, but it managed to intercept the blade at the last moment using the Saw Cleaver's handle to catch Alex's weapon. The Moon Presence sharply twisted the Saw Cleaver's handle, locking the Burial Blade in place and preventing Alex from pulling his weapon free.

"It seems you won't be needing this anymore, Hunter," the Moon Presence said, staring intently at Alex with its yellow eyes.

"I can say the same to you…" Alex said, releasing the Burial Blade's handle and pushing it forward.

The Moon Presence didn't have time to react as Alex let go of his weapon's handle. Releasing the Burial Blade, Alex clenched his fist and struck the tip of the Burial Blade's handle. From Alex's blow, the Burial Blade and the Saw Cleaver that the Moon Presence was holding flew to the side, embedding themselves into one of the many tombstones on the flower field.

The Moon Presence turned its head and saw its weapon pinned to the tombstone. Smiling, the Moon Presence sharply jerked its head back, dodging Alex's strike. Alex began using his fists to deliver blows at the Moon Presence.

The Moon Presence responded in kind, striking back with its fists. Fighting the Moon Presence in hand-to-hand combat, Alex quickly changed his stance and raised his elbows. Alex began using his elbows to deflect the Moon Presence's strikes.

Continuing to exchange blows, Alex suddenly took a step back, dodging a side strike. Then he took a quick step forward, delivering a kick straight to the Moon Presence's chest. The Moon Presence didn't have time to react to Alex's kick and took the blow to the chest, staggering back several steps.

"Not bad… Very not bad. I always knew that hunting prey becomes more interesting when it can fight back," the Moon Presence said, brushing the dirt off its chest after the hit.

"I think I kicked you in the chest, not the head… Well, never mind. The next one will definitely be to the head. As I understand it, this is round two," Alex said, taking out the Hunter Axe from his inventory.

"To the head, huh… Indeed, to kill your prey, you need to hit the head," the Moon Presence said, also drawing a Hunter Axe from behind its back.

"Heh, so you want to play like this. You want to find out who handles Hunter weapons better. You're funny," Alex said, lengthening the Hunter Axe's handle.

The Moon Presence only gave a light snort in response to Alex's words. Gripping the long handle of the Hunter Axe with both hands, Alex made a sharp dash forward, delivering a powerful downward strike. As he swung, Alex's hand slid along the Hunter Axe's shaft, strengthening the blow. At the very last moment, the Moon Presence raised its axe above its head, blocking the strike.

The blades of the two axes collided with such force that a shockwave formed, causing the ground beneath Alex and the Moon Presence to crack, covered in a web of fissures. Alex continued to press down on the axe shaft with one hand, while the Moon Presence continued to block the strike.

This continued for a brief moment until the sound of cracking metal was heard. The blades of both axes began to crack until they suddenly broke. Not releasing the handle of the broken axe from his hand, Alex delivered a thrusting strike toward the Moon Presence's head. The Moon Presence slightly tilted its head to the side, avoiding the strike.

But the sharpened end still lightly grazed its cheek. Receiving a minor wound, the Moon Presence jumped back, breaking the distance between itself and Alex. After jumping back, the Moon Presence raised its hand and touched the small wound on its cheek, from which purple blood flowed.

"You broke my weapon, and it was my first weapon. Well, cool, lunar prick. Not cool at all… You'll have to pay for this. And my weapon is very expensive," Alex said, throwing the broken Hunter Axe aside.

"Not bad… You managed to wound me. It wasn't in vain that I chose you as prey, Hunter," the Moon Presence said, wiping the blood from its cheek.

"Yeah, yeah. You got wounded, how wonderful. Either fight or keep talking. I want to go home," Alex said, taking out the Boom Hammer from his inventory.

"Indeed… Words are unnecessary when a hunt is at stake," the Moon Presence said, drawing the Rifle Spear from behind its back.

Gripping the Boom Hammer in one hand, Alex took a cigarette from his pocket and lit it. Exhaling cigarette smoke, Alex charged forward. The Moon Presence unfolded the Rifle Spear and delivered a thrusting strike directly at Alex. Dodging at the very last moment, Alex swung the Boom Hammer, delivering a side strike to the Moon Presence's torso.

The Moon Presence quickly changed the trajectory of its strike, delivering a wide slash aimed at Alex's neck. Leaning forward, Alex dodged the neck strike. Flipping the Boom Hammer in his hand, Alex struck upward, aiming for the Moon Presence's chin. At the last moment, the Moon Presence placed the Rifle Spear in front of the Boom Hammer to block the strike.

Before the Boom Hammer and Rifle Spear collided, Alex ignited the hammer to deliver a more powerful strike. When the Boom Hammer and Rifle Spear collided, the force of the explosive blow sent the Moon Presence flying into the air. Before the Moon Presence could fly up after the strike, Alex grabbed it by the leg and sharply pulled it back.

Holding the Moon Presence's leg, Alex flipped it over himself, slamming its face into the ground. The Moon Presence crashed into the ground with its whole body and immediately heard the clicking sound of the Boom Hammer's ignition mechanism behind it. Before the Moon Presence could roll away, the Boom Hammer slammed into its back with a powerful explosion. A shallow crater formed beneath the Moon Presence from the impact.

"If you don't want your prey to escape, cripple its legs… Don't worry, I have a lot of experience breaking spines," Alex said, raising the Boom Hammer above his head.

Before the Moon Presence could respond, Alex delivered another Boom Hammer strike to its back. The Boom Hammer slammed into the Moon Presence's back with another explosion, creating an even larger crater. Alex began delivering blow after blow, not giving the Moon Presence any chance to recover.

Once again, when Alex raised the Boom Hammer above his head to strike, the Moon Presence sharply rolled to the side, avoiding the blow. Rolling away from Alex, the Moon Presence rose from the ground, and purple blood began to seep through the fabric mask on its face.

The Moon Presence looked at Alex with narrowed eyes, tightly gripping the Rifle Spear in its hand. Alex calmly tossed the Boom Hammer aside and took out the Kirkhammer from his inventory. Placing the Kirkhammer on the ground, Alex calmly detached the silver sword from the stone hammer. Holding the silver sword in one hand and the stone hammer in the other, Alex pointed the silver sword at the Moon Presence.

"Are you ready for round four? Or did my back pats damage your body too much?" Alex said in a cheerful tone, resting the stone hammer on his shoulder and pointing the silver sword at the Moon Presence.

"Just a minor injury… It takes more than that to wound me," the Moon Presence said, throwing the Rifle Spear aside.

"As you say, lunar prick. You know best. Next will be the legs," Alex said, slightly shaking his head from side to side with a cheerful smile on his face.

"We'll see," the Moon Presence said, drawing Tonitrus from behind its back.

Alex smirked and began walking forward. Taking a step forward, Alex instantly appeared beside the Moon Presence, raising the stone hammer above his head. The Moon Presence quickly retreated, avoiding the stone hammer's strike that nearly crushed its foot. Using the stone hammer's handle as support, Alex jumped up and began spinning in the air.

Spinning in the air, Alex delivered another downward strike, once again aiming for the Moon Presence's legs. Dodging once again, Alex blocked Tonitrus using the silver sword. Smirking, Alex knocked Tonitrus away and kicked the Moon Presence in the knee. The Moon Presence staggered from the knee strike, leaning forward and losing balance.

At that moment, Alex raised the stone hammer above his head. And immediately struck the Moon Presence's back with the stone hammer. The stone hammer slammed into the Moon Presence's back with the sound of cracking bones. Feeling the impact, the Moon Presence spat purple blood from its mouth and immediately fell to the ground.

Before the Moon Presence could rise, Alex grabbed the silver sword in a reverse grip and pierced its shoulder. Piercing the Moon Presence's shoulder, Alex struck the silver sword's handle with the stone hammer, driving it deeper into the ground.

Having pinned the Moon Presence to the ground, Alex lowered the stone hammer to the ground and lit a cigarette. Taking a drag, Alex exhaled the smoke into the air with a distinct sound.

"I didn't want to say it… But from the very beginning, you were the prey. You see, I also like to play with those I hunt," Alex said, leaning on the stone hammer's handle and flicking ash onto the Moon Presence's head.

"Hahaha. Prey? Don't make me laugh, Hunter. This isn't over yet. I was just playing with you," the Moon Presence said in a mocking tone, pressing its hands against the ground to stand up.

"Oh, you little bastard. Even your daddy wouldn't dare hunt me. Even he isn't bold enough to hunt Destruction itself," Alex said, crouching down and flicking the hat off the Moon Presence's head with his finger.

When Alex's words sounded, the Moon Presence froze in place and raised its yellow eyes to Alex. When the Moon Presence's yellow eyes met Alex's multicolored eyes, Alex's eyes flashed red for a moment. For that brief moment when Alex's eyes flashed, everything around the Moon Presence lost its color and turned gray.

A moment later, all the moon flowers and tombstones in the garden began turning to dust. The Moon Presence experienced genuine horror, feeling Alex's power for a brief moment. It recognized this monstrous power. The Moon Presence's body began to tremble with real fear as it stared into Alex's eyes. Seeing the Moon Presence begin to shake with fear, Alex smiled cheerfully and took another drag from his cigarette.

"How… How can you be here?… Why?" the Moon Presence barely managed to say, staring unblinkingly at Alex.

"Someone didn't like how you were playing around here and disrupting the balance. And I, let's say, owed her. So here we are… Miracles, aren't they?" Alex said, propping his cheek with his hand as he exhaled cigarette smoke into the Moon Presence's face.

"Impossible! No one was supposed to know… The balance wasn't disturbed," the Moon Presence hissed through clenched teeth, denying Alex's words.

"And who said that? What idiot decided that you could hide?" Alex asked in a surprised tone.

"We isolated this world from the others. No one could have found it. Not even the Black Goat who sent Ibraitas here," the Moon Presence said, staring intently at Alex.

"Oh, for the love of the Creator… I understand that you guys are fucking idiots. But to this extent? It's not even funny, it's sad… To think that you could hide from Yog's gaze… Just how fucking stupid do you have to be to think that? I'm simply shocked. This is pure nonsense. And here I was, admiring your brilliant plan of using your own kind. Life is full of disappointments," Alex said in an indignant tone, waving his cigarette and pacing from side to side.

Alex couldn't hide his irritation and began pacing back and forth, gesturing with his hand and complaining about the Moon Presence. While Alex paced and gestured, the Moon Presence watched him intently.

Noticing that Alex wasn't paying attention to it, the Moon Presence pressed its hands against the ground, thinking of escaping. It had no thoughts of fighting Alex. After all, before it was a being it was better not to mess with and to run from immediately. Carefully rising to pull the silver sword out of its shoulder, the Moon Presence had almost gotten up.

And just as it was almost pulling out the sword that pinned it to the ground, the Moon Presence felt someone pressing down on the silver sword. Trying to move, the Moon Presence looked up and saw a girl in a black dress with long white hair and yellow eyes standing on the silver sword's handle.

"You won't escape. Keep lying there, offspring of Nodens," Yog said, looking at the Moon Presence with an empty gaze.

"Oh, Yog… You came. Or you didn't leave and were here the whole time?" Alex said, turning his head after sensing Yog's presence.

"I was here. I watched," Yog said, jumping off the silver sword's handle.

"So we're even?" Alex asked, raising an eyebrow and approaching Yog.

"We're even, Destruction. Kill Nodens' offspring and you may return," Yog said, nodding slowly and raising her head to look Alex in the eyes.

"How kind of you to let me leave. I don't even know, I feel joy. Yeah," Alex said sarcastically, spreading his hands.

"Mmm… No need to thank me," Yog said, nodding her head.

"That was sarcasm," Alex said, rolling his eyes.

"I know… Finish it and leave, Destruction," Yog said in the same empty voice.

"Oh, what am I going to do with you, Yog… My head even started hurting. Eh, whatever… If anything, come visit. As usual," Alex said, rubbing his forehead to get rid of the headache.

Yog looked at Alex and nodded slowly, showing that she visited often anyway. Stopping looking at Yog, Alex shifted his gaze to the Moon Presence, which was frozen in place, unable to move. Approaching the Moon Presence, Alex raised his hand, and his fingers became covered in black flames.

At that moment, Alex plunged his fingers into the Moon Presence's head, grabbing the foundation of its existence. Squeezing his fist, Alex destroyed the foundation of the Moon Presence's existence, and its body instantly began turning to dust. Straightening up, Alex turned toward where Yog had been standing earlier, but she was no longer there.

Shaking his head, Alex began collecting his weapons, including the broken Hunter Axe. After restoring the Hunter Axe, Alex stored the weapons in his inventory. Taking one last look around, Alex began walking back to Alucard, Doll, and Maria. Shoving his hands into his coat pockets, Alex thought about returning home and resting a little before the next job that was already waiting for him.

To be continued...

(Here I'll explain why the Moonrider took this form. The Outer God named Nodens is essentially a Hunter, seeking out prey, even among his own kind. And so his vile spawn, the Moonrider, decided to hunt as well. But the prey he chose turned out to be far more dangerous. So, yes, this is the end of this mini-arc. Next up on the list is a return to London, and then to America. And before the end, there will be one last mini-arc in the form of The Cabin in the Woods and Outlast. I couldn't shake an idea one of my readers wrote. If you're still with us, my dear friend, I remember your request. Peace, love, and the Hunter must hunt for bread.)
