Chapter 14 - search for the malkietor.

Scene 1: The confrontation.

Sam stood before the President, her posture steady, her eyes unyielding.

"I've been investigating Malkietor."

The President stiffened, just slightly. Not enough for most people to notice—but Sam did.

"And I think you and Laspa…" she continued, voice lowering,

"…know more than you're saying."

Silence stretched across the room.

Sam took a step forward.

"Don't lie to me."

The President exhaled slowly, then spoke in a quieter tone.

"Malkietor was never meant to exist in public records. It was classified… even within the ISS. Only top agents were allowed access."

Sam didn't blink.

"So it's true," she said. "You and Laspa know each other. And you know where it is… my father's invention."

A flicker crossed the President's face.

"We all believed it was lost."

Sam's voice sharpened.

"And Laspa? You let him build an entire anti-agent network inside the ISS?"

The President raised a hand slightly.

"Let me finish. Then you can judge me."

A pause.

"I knew he was creating something. At first, I thought it was a power move… a takeover. But years passed, and he never acted."

He looked at her now, more serious.

"He was waiting."

Sam's expression tightened.

"For what?"

"For Malkietor."

The room seemed to grow colder.

"It wasn't until the day you rescued me at the conference… that I saw him again. That's when I understood."

The President's voice dropped.

"He's not after the ISS."

"…He's after the weapon."

Sam swallowed, but kept her composure.

"I sent our best agents," the President continued. "Every one of them came back with nothing… or didn't come back at all."

A heavy pause.

"I didn't want you involved in this. It's not just dangerous… it's a graveyard."

His eyes met hers.

"But Laspa already made his move, didn't he?"

Sam hesitated… then nodded.

The President reached into a drawer and slid a file across the desk.

"This is the only lead we have."

Sam opened it.

Inside, a symbol stared back at her:

⟁ 07 | ∅ | A.B

Her brows furrowed.

"…What is this supposed to mean?"

The President leaned back slightly.

"That's the problem."

A beat.

"We don't know."

Sam paused at the door, hand resting on the handle.

She turned back slightly.

"When Laspa gets his hands on Malkietor… you know he won't be stopped, right?"

The President said nothing.

Her eyes hardened.

"And you still let him move freely."

A beat.

"That's not strategy. That's waiting for disaster."

The words lingered.

For a moment, the President looked… tired.

Then he straightened.

"No," he said quietly. "That's why it's your mission."

Sam froze.

"To stop Laspa," he continued, "you don't chase him."

He stepped closer.

"You get to Malkietor first."

Silence.

Sam's grip tightened on the door.

Then she left.

Scene 2: Home – The Code

Back at home, Sandra had already set up her system.

The code glowed on the screen:

MKTR 07 | ∅ | A.B

Sarah paced.

"This still doesn't make sense."

Sandra zoomed in, thinking.

"MKTR… Malkietor… 07 could be a location… or a phase…"

Sam stood quietly.

"A.B…"

She whispered it.

"…Alex Brooks."

The room went still.

Sandra looked up slowly.

"You think this leads back to him?"

Sam nodded.

"Not just him."

Her voice dropped.

"Our origin."

A long pause.

Sarah frowned.

"…Maladiaville."

Sandra's eyes widened.

"Our old home."

Sam didn't hesitate.

"Pack your things."

Miss bani asked the servants to help pack up their things and wish the sisters farewell on their journey despite knowing how dangerous this mission is.

Scene 3: Arrival – Maladiaville

Maladiaville wasn't how they remembered it.

It felt… wrong.

The streets were cracked.

Buildings tilted slightly, like they were tired of standing.

The air was too quiet.

Not abandoned.

Just… uneasy.

Sarah whispered:

"This place feels like it's breathing."

A faint rumble passed beneath their feet.

Not loud.

But enough.

Sam's eyes sharpened.

"That's not normal."

Scene 4: Gabriel

"Yeah," a voice said behind them.

"Definitely not normal."

They turned.

A boy their age stood there, calm, observant.

"I'm Gabriel," he said. "Environmental Investigation Unit."

Sandra blinked.

"…That's a department?"

Gabriel shrugged lightly.

"We handle things that shouldn't be happening… but are."

He looked around the town.

"This place was fine until last week."

Sam crossed her arms.

"What happened?"

"People reported earthquakes," he said.

Sarah frowned.

"But there's no record."

"Exactly."

Gabriel's tone sharpened slightly.

"No seismic activity. No fault lines triggered. Nothing on global systems."

Sandra stepped forward.

"So what caused it?"

Gabriel held her gaze.

"That's what everyone here is trying to figure out."

He gestured around.

"Military. Agencies. Researchers."

A beat.

"But nobody's finding anything."

Another low tremor.

Closer this time.

Sam's expression darkened.

"…We might."

Scene 5: Shelter

Later that night, Gabriel gave them a place to stay.

Food. Shelter. Quiet.

Too quiet.

As they settled in, Sandra spoke:

"We're not just here for the house, are we?"

Sam shook her head.

"No."

She looked toward the dark window.

"We're here for what was hidden under it."

Scene 6: Laspa & Amanda (End Scene)

Amanda stood before Laspa, tense.

"You replaced me."

Laspa didn't even look at her.

"You made a mistake."

Her voice sharpened.

"So that's it? I'm disposable?"

A pause.

Then she asked:

"…Why Sam?"

Laspa finally turned.

His expression unreadable.

"To get closer," he said calmly,

"…to what really matters."

His eyes darkened slightly.

"The origin."
