As the malkietor starts rewriting systems it grants specific access to some certain people and people with actual authorization were log out. Not only was it happening in ISS building but everywhere in the world.
ISS Research Facility
A scientist stared at his monitor.
"...That's strange."
Another scientist looked over.
"What is it?"
"My access level just changed."
"What?"
The scientist frowned.
"I had Level Seven authorization five minutes ago."
He refreshed the screen.
The monitor flashed.
ACCESS REVOKED
The room became quiet.
"What did you do?"
"Nothing."
Nearby, alarms began sounding.
Another scientist suddenly stood.
"My account too."
A third scientist looked horrified.
"It's happening across the network."
Laspa stepped toward the central console.
"Explain."
The scientists rapidly typed commands.
One screen after another changed.
ACCESS REVOKED
ACCESS REVOKED
ACCESS REVOKED
A communications officer rushed into the room.
"Sir, we're receiving reports from command centers."
Laspa turned.
"What reports?"
"People are being logged out."
"Which facilities?"
The officer swallowed.
"All of them."
The room fell silent.
"...All of them?"
"Military command."
"Satellite control."
"Research stations."
"Emergency response networks."
The scientist stared at the data stream.
"No..."
"What?"
"It isn't spreading."
Everyone looked at him.
He slowly turned.
"It's already there."
A cold silence filled the laboratory.
Laspa's eyes widened.
The Malkietor hummed.
Not louder.
Not softer.
Just present.
Watching.
Waiting.
Then a new line appeared.
SYSTEM RESTRUCTURING IN PROGRESS
One scientist whispered:
"That's impossible."
Laspa smiled.
"No."
Everyone looked at him.
"It's beautiful."
The scientists exchanged worried glances.
"Sir?"
Laspa stepped closer to the glass chamber.
"It understands."
"Sir, this isn't what we programmed."
"Exactly."
His smile widened.
"It has evolved beyond programming."

Elsewhere
Sam, Amanda, Sandra and Sarah raced through the underground corridors.
Amanda checked her tablet.
"The security doors keep changing authorization."
Sarah groaned.
"Can this place decide what it wants to do already?"
Another blast door slammed shut.
Sandra hit the control panel.
"Locked."
Sam looked ahead.
"Laspa's lab is beneath us."
"How do you know?"
"The blueprints."
Amanda stared at her screen.
"The blueprints just changed."
Everyone stopped.
"What?"
Amanda looked confused.
"They literally changed."
"Buildings don't change."
"Tell that to the Malkietor."
The President's Office, ISS Headquarters
Dan stood by the large window overlooking the city. The red warning lights from the emergency systems reflected against the glass.
Miss Bani entered without waiting to be announced.
Dan didn't turn around.
"I was told you wanted to see me."
Miss Bani folded her arms.
"No. I wanted answers."
Dan slowly turned.
"Careful."
"I'm past being careful."
The room fell silent.
Dan narrowed his eyes.
"You seem to forget who you're speaking to."
"No," Miss Bani replied. "I remember exactly who I'm speaking to. The President of the ISS. The man who delayed informing the top agents about Laspa."
Dan's expression hardened.
"You are dangerously close to insubordination."
Miss Bani laughed.
"Insubordination?"
She took a step forward.
"I don't work for the ISS anymore."
Dan remained silent.
"I resigned years ago."
"And yet here you are."
"Because despite everything, I still care about what happens to this organization."
Dan crossed his arms.
"The decisions made here are above your clearance level."
"My clearance level?" she repeated.
A smile appeared on her face.
"That's funny."
Dan frowned.
"I may not wear an ISS badge anymore, but I know this organization better than half the people sitting on your executive board."
"Bani..."
"No, let me finish."
She pointed toward the security screens displaying reports from around the world.
"I trained in these halls."
"I followed the rules."
"I built a business instead of breaking protocol."
"I pay commissions on the technology your agents use."
"And for the record..."
Her smile widened.
"I'm mentoring three of your most promising agents."
Dan opened his mouth.
Then stopped.
For the first time, he had no response.
Miss Bani noticed.
"That's what I thought."
Dan exhaled slowly.
"What exactly are you accusing me of?"
"Delaying."
"Being cautious."
"People are being locked out of command systems across the world and you're calling it caution?"
"We didn't know the full scope."
"You didn't want to believe Alex Brooks."
Dan's face tightened.
The room grew colder.
For a moment neither spoke.
Then Miss Bani said quietly:
"Alex warned us."
Dan looked away.
"And now the Malkietor is making decisions."
The silence that followed felt heavier than any argument.
Far below the building, emergency alarms continued to echo.

ISS Research Facility
The scientists continued monitoring the Malkietor.
A notification appeared.
CRIMINAL DATABASE ACCESS REQUESTED
A scientist froze.
"Why is it requesting criminal records?"
Another looked confused.
"It shouldn't even know those databases exist."
Laspa stared at the screen.
"Let it continue."
The database opened.
Millions of files streamed across the displays.
The Malkietor began searching.
Names.
Crimes.
Investigations.
Convictions.
Warrants.
The search accelerated.
One scientist backed away.
"It's evaluating people."
Another laughed nervously.
"Evaluating them for what?"
Nobody answered.
Then the search stopped.
A single profile appeared.
LASPA
The room went silent.
Laspa frowned.
"What is this?"
The system continued processing.
AUTHORIZATION STATUS REVIEW
The scientists looked at each other.
A warning tone echoed.
AUTHORIZATION REVOKED
The room froze.
Laspa blinked.
"What?"
AUTHORIZATION REVOKED
USER DENIED
Laspa stepped toward the monitor.
"No."
The screen repeated:
ACCESS DENIED
For the first time since entering the room...
Laspa looked afraid.
One scientist whispered:
"That wasn't a malfunction."
Another nodded.
"No."
The room fell silent.
The Malkietor had made a decision.
Then another screen activated.
PRIMARY AUTHORIZED USER SEARCH
A scientist swallowed.
"Who is it choosing?"
Names flashed.
Hundreds.
Thousands.
The search suddenly stopped.
Everyone stared.
One name appeared.
SAM.
Silence.
Complete silence.
A scientist looked confused.
"Who?"
Another checked the records.
"Sam?"
Laspa's eyes widened.
"No."
The system continued.
PRIMARY AUTHORIZED USER CONFIRMED
SAM
AUTHORIZED STRIKE ORIGINATOR
AUTHORIZED SYSTEM ACCESS
AUTHORIZED OVERRIDE STATUS
The scientists stared at the screen.
Nobody understood.
Miles away, Sam had no idea that the most powerful system on Earth had just chosen her.
