Chapter 171 - Fifty to one? I like those odds

I knew there was no hiding my siren nature and since I had a convenient excuse to intimidate the other big names in the galaxies I decided I may as well go all the way. The content of those four fleet ships may have not been enough to cause Maliwan to flinch in terms of population but the spectacle alone would. This was power on a scale hard to understand being held by a single person, enough to almost appear as though godlike even. That was the whole fucking point.-

Fighting another human was just business as usual but to fight a god? That was something new and unknown. Humans feared the unknown. Maliwan's higher ups proved to be just as predictable as expected and soon enough fifty top of the line fleet vessels orbited Promethea.

"It looks like they think quite highly of me." I said with a smirk as I looked at the image of the globe surrounded.

"I do believe you may have frightened them sir." Atlas said serious as he too looked at the projection.

"Good, it's one thing to be seen as a cutting edge tech company but an entirely different one to be known to have the brute force needed to survive as well. The original four ships weren't enough to show off my own companies military might as if I did the other companies might misunderstand the true power of it and only feed fodder to my troops. This way though I can let my own military might shine without lifting another finger." I said with a wide grin.

"I see, you baited out a seemingly overwhelming retaliation to give a more accurate demonstration of our military might. How devious of you sir." he said sounding impressed.

I opened the secure echo channel to current commander of my military here on Promethea and sent a single message. "Release the Kraken."

The Kr4-Ken was a single warship I poured all my knowledge and prowess into making. It was the first of the "Ken" class warships, the only one at the moment in fact. I named the classification after one of the old human languages ironically used on the Maliwan homeworld that means "sword". Like a sword the ship was narrow and blade-like in shape and forged for the singular purpose of claiming life.-

The Maliwan fleet seemed to think it a joke when this ship smaller than most small ships and so "petite" as well flew smoothly from the surface of Promethea. Only a single ship charged up it's weapons system to attack it only for the Kraken to seemingly vanish and that ship to explode. I listened to the hacked communication channels as the other ships of the fleet panicked and scrambled to figure out what the fuck happened. The Kraken started to look like it teleported all around the orbit of Promethea and each reappearance resulted in another ship blown up.-

It was only when ten ships remained that someone figured out the trick. The Kraken wasn't teleporting but moving so fast that their sensors lost it until it decelerated. The attacks sent out at that speed were unavoidable but powerful enough that it temporarily slowed the ship down long enough to "reappear". It didn't take a genius to know that the fleet was fucked as one by one all but the last fleet ship was blown to space debris. This last ship was purposefully spared to send a message to the higher ups of the Maliwan corporation "Fifty to one? I like those odds!".-

"Kraken caged once again." a thrilled but stern young male voice came from the communications line with my commander.

"Good work Samson, grab some celebratory burgers for the crew on me." I sent back with a grin.

Samson was one of those talents I mentioned popping up before once my company showed it was different than the Atlas of old. He was a young man with dark skin and long black hair with a pencil thin build who applied directly for the post of commander when I was looking for one. His body was weak and his marksmanship was dreadful but what he did have was an insane score in every tactical simulation he encountered.-

I fixed his body and marksmanship with traits and he proved a prefect fit for commander afterwards. The man connected on a personal level with my other soldiers and showed no fear in demanding what he felt they needed. If I wasn't wrong he had all the makings of another Knoxx and there was no way in hell I wasn't capitalizing on that shit. Besides it wasn't like he was being unreasonable either as most of what he asked for was stuff I could solve with a little more money. With the profits the company was bringing in from the new products and Eridium mining it barely impacted the finances at all. -

He repaid me by thoroughly turning my military into a well oiled machine of deadly precision. This was his first real life chance to show me that my appointment of him as commander wasn't a bad one and he nailed it. I said I wanted to make the other corporations shit themselves and he fucking delivered. In truth I NEEDED this kind of deterrent show of force. I hadn't yet had time to equip my military with the stuff I wanted to fully. -

I frankly couldn't actually fight off a full scale war effort at the moment but needed to give the illusion I could with ease until the lie became the truth. Given the plea for peace that came from Maliwan a GT day later I'd say I succeeded.-

"Given recent events we believe we may have been hasty in our declaration of war. You will have to forgive us, the treatment of our liaison stoked tempers and led us to this." the insignificant peon the company sent to negotiate for peace said from the "safety" of his orbital ship.

" I understand. I myself hold some blame for this matter as well. The arrogance and disregard the man spoke to me with rather irritated me and I may have gone slightly too far punishing him. Death was probably enough, erasing his very soul was a tad over the line I admit." I said casually.

The mans brow beaded with sweat "Yes, it is good to see you are a reasonable man. Maliwan is hoping you would be amiable to settling this matter here. We are even prepared to offer the piece of Promethea's vault key we acquired from the previous Atlas corporation as a peace offering." the man said ingratiatingly.

"I see your sincerity. Alright you have my word that this matter ends the moment that piece is in my hands. Run along now little messager." I said before ending the call. "How many hacking attempts from that conversation Atlas?" I asked the bot.

"One hundred and fifty seven. None successful." Atlas said calmly.

I chuckled and shook my head "Coming for peace but secretly trying to steal my knowledge, textbook corporate tactic. What about the spies we've captured?" I asked leaning back.

"Of the three hundred spies we've captured all but two have given every detail they possessed. The last two successfully committed suicide, we took countermeasures from further attempts in the same manner." he said and I nodded.
