After the Layer Boat leapt forward, the remaining deck appeared increasingly dim, with gray-white mist tentatively approaching, gathering at the edges of the light into blurred human faces, silently howling.
"Whoosh——!"
As soon as the faces appeared, a purple-grey light sliced them in two. Before the Sports Student could react, a stunning figure floated back to the School Doctor's side.
"They've departed. For now, we just need to hold on until they return..." she murmured softly, her gaze piercing through the dense gray mist, landing on the ominous sea below.
With the jump of the Layer Boat, their area slowly descended from infinite layers into a tiered black sea, where, not too far away, clusters of reefs emerged from the tar-like black water.
These reefs weren't made of ordinary rock, but of countless twisted bones piled together, covered in slick black moss, with clouded eyeballs at their peaks, staring intently at them...
