Chapter 1087 - A Direction

"What changed inside the chamber?"

Lucavion became quieter at the question.

They had already crossed most of the bridge, where pale mist rose from the mana-warmed channel beneath them and gathered in loose strands against the stone railing. The eastern sky still belonged more to night than morning, although the darkness had thinned enough for the distant Academy towers to emerge as separate shapes against the horizon.

Lucavion opened one hand as he walked, studying his fingers for a moment as though some part of what he had discovered might still remain there.

"I was doing too much."

Selenne waited.

Her silence carried none of the encouragement another professor might have offered. She simply looked at him and expected him to continue.

Lucavion did.
