The Empress finally had such good food that she couldn't bear to eat it; she hid it away.
The next day, two palace maids came in and found it while tidying up, salivating with greed.
Seeing this, the Empress, although reluctant to part with the food, thought of how they had suffered with her in the Cold Palace and decided to share a little with them.
In the Cold Palace, their meals were all the same, and the food they ate every day was spoiled. These buns and meat were a delicacy to them.
The two palace maids took the buns and meat, evenly divided them, and gobbled them up, finishing in no time.
They licked their fingers, unsatisfied, and said, "Oh, it's so delicious. If only there was one more!"
"Don't even think about it. It's the Empress's food. It's a great favor that she gave us some. Don't be greedy," one palace maid said.
"I'm just saying, why are you so tense?"
Empress: "Alright, you've eaten, stop arguing and fetch me a basin of water to wash my face!"
