"Oooo"
Tonks winced as a Slytherin beater threw his bat straight into a Griffindor chaser. Not just her, more than half the stadium winced along with her as the chaser fell to the ground like a kite in a wind less day.
"Those guys really don't play fair now do they?"
While She was from Hufflepuff, Tonks didn't hide her bias against the Slytherin players. Not that anyone liked the Slytherin quiddich team except for those in Slytherin anyway.
"There's nothing unfair. Madam Hooch gives fair treatment to both teams. Those who break the rules, suffer the penalties."
Sure enough, the beater was quickly replaced by another, who picked up the bat and rose to the sky with a menacing grin.
"Still.." Tonks presisted, "They already have the new Nimbus 2001. The Gryffindor only has those secondhand brooms they used for years. With an advantage like that, you would at least expect them to show a little more sportsmanship, no?"
"Why?" Richard counter asked. "They are focused on winning and only winning. So it is understandable for them to take advantage of every possible loophole they can find. "
"But their actions are unsportsmanlike. "
"So" Richard shrugged. "Sportsmanship doesn't win matches. Slytherin always play to win, no matter what the cost."
"You know, as a Griffindor, the least you can do is cheer for the team. Not talk about those dirty cheaters." Ron said as he took a seat next to him along with Hermione and Neville. "I'm honestly suprised to see you here. Last year didn't you say that you had no interest in Quiddich? "
"I don't" Richard replied. "But I thought i might as well as take a break today to see Malfoy eat the dirt. There is something oddly satisfying about seeing that greasy prat go cry to his father." His lips curved to a nasty grin as he kept his eyes trained on the green cloaked boy.
Well, that as well as to understand the charms on the bludger. But, both of the reasons had a similar weight in Richard's mind.
"Get down!"
Swoosh
Just as Richard pulled Tonks down, a flash of red and gold passed just above their heads. Tonks tried to look up, but Richard kept his hand on her head, keeping her head down as a brown blur shot past just a second later.
"Blimy, Harry's got himself a rogue bludger on his tail."
'Yeah, we noticed' Richard thought sourly as he removed his arm from Tonks's head. He could have grabbed the bludger if he wasn't too busy pulling down his clumsy accomplice. And for no use as well. Both Harry and the bludger flew at least a foot above Hagrid's head.
"I'll stop it," Ron quickly pulled out his wand, only to have it pulled down.
"Stop it Ron. " Hermione pushed down Ron's wand before he could do anything. "It's too risky to try that. You could hit Harry! "
"Right,"
Ron sheepishly put away his new wand.
'I'll need to keep my eyes on Lockhart from now on. ' Richard glanced at the wand and quickly shifted his gaze towards where the teachers were seated. Lockhart stood out among them, with his flamboyant clothes and his blond hair, scrambling as they recovered from Harry's kamikaze like diving tactics.
It was only thanks to Ron's broken wand, Lockhart's memory charm backfired. But now, since he had a brand new wand, courtesy of Richard's last year Christmas gift, things might turn for the worst if he doesn't intervene.
Richard focused on the game once more.
He had to admit, Harry was truly talented in flying. The scrawny kid who lived in a cupboard could maneuver the broomstick as if he was born to be a rider. The zigzagged through the field before loosing the bludger.
Not just that, he noticed something close to Malfoy's ear. The snitch, no doubt about that, before the platinum blonde even suspected it.
Richard watched them dive under the field trenches, and a slight anticipation built up in him. It was slight. But it was there.
He didn't have to wait long.
Something green and white flew out of the trench before violently tumbling on the ground before coming to a stop in a painful split.
"Ooh.. that has got to hurt-.. wait are you smiling?" Tonks who commented turned to discover that Richard was infact, smiling. Quite widely too.
He ignored her, savoring the moment bit by bit. It's not everyday such deep level of satisfaction can be experienced.
"Harry!"
'Tsk'
Too bad, good times never last. Richard removed his gaze from the squirming Malfoy and looked to see Harry cradling his arm while reaching ,for the snitch with the other. He was flying quite low, and the bludger was a bit far away. Enough for the moment. He raised his wand slightly.
"Immobilus!"
A jet of blue light shot from it's tip, hitting the bludger squarely, stopping it completely on track. But he didn't have time to admire his handiwork.
"HARRY POTTER HAS CAUGHT THE SNITCH, GIVING GRYFFINDOR 150 POINTS. GRIFFINDOR WINS!"
By the time the announcement was done, the entire Gryffindoor team was in the field, rushing to the fallen seeker.
Richard followed them for a while before turning away and walking to the bludges that was practically vibrating as it tried to home on its target.
'All right Dobby. Lets see how your enchantments work'
Boost
He dismissed the 'immobilus' charm. But before the ball could fly away, it was firmly gripped in his hand.
"You got that Richard?"
"It's cool, I got it." Richard affirmed to the twins who were already on their way to take care of the troublesome bludger. His muscles bulged, as his hand strained. But it was unable to escape his grasp.
'Structural identification'
As he read the enchantment, he could already see its applications.
Magical swords that have a homing function. That was the best support he could add for his ranged attacks. Say for magic like sword rain.... His grin grew wide enough to show the slightest bit of teeth through his lips.
