"Have you lost your component of sense?!"
Alexander bellowed as soon as Madelyn left the room, the heavy doors having barely closed. There was no one else present save for the three of them. Even the faithful Edmund had been dismissed alongside Madelyn.
"You sent a note, telling that you were bringing your bride. Your bride! A woman who, until this morning, was merely a guest within your walls. And you expect me not to question this madness?" he asked, eyes blazing with anger.
Brand remained as he had since they entered the room, unfazed. He pushed imaginary strands of hair behind his ears, bidding his time.
Of course, he was aware that he would be doubted. Still, had they not always clamoured for his marital life, fumbling over themselves in their worries of the lack thereof?
