~Amelia~
The first contraction disturbed my beauty sleep at three in the morning and I lay there for a full ten seconds convincing myself it was just the baby shifting positions.
Unfortunately, it was not the baby shifting positions.
The second one came six minutes later and that was when I sat up in bed and pressed both hands flat against my stomach and thought, very clearly, okay. This is happening. This is actually happening right now.
Kaden was awake before I could say a single word.
I genuinely did not know if the bond had told him or if his wolf had some kind of built-in alarm system for exactly this, but one second he was asleep and the next his hand was on my back and his eyes were fully open and he was looking at me the way he looked at a threat assessment.
"Contractions?" he asked.
"Maybe. Two of them. They're mild."
"How far apart?"
"Six minutes."
He was already reaching for his phone. "I'm calling Eli."
