Eli stood over Blake with his hands still, and he kept his kit closed, and he glanced at Kaden instead of getting to work.
“I need a command from you before I touch him,” Eli requested, his tone serious.
Blake coughed on the table, blood ran down his side, and his breath came rough.
“Eli, he’s dying,” I pushed, and I stepped closer, “start now.”
Eli shook his head once, and he stayed put. “I only follow Alpha order on this one, I’m sorry.”
Kaden stood a step away, his eyes stayed on Blake, and his jaw stayed tight.
“Give the word, Kaden” I told him as I held his gaze, “you can argue with me after he stays alive.”
Kaden didn’t say anything straight away, even when the guards shifted behind us, and boots moved hastily in the hall.
“Alpha,” a warrior called from the door, and he pointed outside, “more sound at the line.”
“Hold your posts,” Kaden threw back, and he did not turn.
Blake jerked on the table, his hand hit the edge, and he tried to push up.
