The worst possible scenario has occurred. The world itself wails in agony from the disruptive forces of the unknown. Outer space continues to exist in this world, yet the pitch black sky dotted with starlight has been replaced with an all engulfing light. Eterna is dead. Her authority couldn't be used any longer, he couldn't ascend into a deity anymore.
However, he was a heavenly king. A being from the outside with great power to begin with. He did not need Eterna's authority had he been able to bring his original power into this world. The Invader of a foreign dimension, as it stood, he wasn't suppressed by the world's forces like The Observer and The Calamity was. This time, all of his preparations have served his purpose. Eterna was either weakened by the stolen authority, or killed as a final measure to defeat him, when ironically Eterna was the his only obstacle.
With his true S grade power that could casually assault continents, he attacks humanity itself. Had The Observer or The Calamity been unsuppressed, they would have been at a similar level of power. However, The Observer operated on instinct, at its core it was just a particularly huge and strange animal. The Calamity was an AI with corroded functions, its computational power was long gone and it only served a single directive, destroy. The Invader was the only intelligent being. So it made full use of it.
Rather than waste energy and destroy the world, it released its own {Cocytus} energy across all of earth's surface. Yggdrasil could hear distant screams under the blinding white sky that blanketted the universe. Crying, shouting, hoarse voices reverberate with such vigour that they seem to tear out of one's throat. Anyone would be concerned over how forcefully loud the anguish was, but they were all suffering too much from the same agony to care.
The energy invades the hellish atmosphere and then the body, like a disease that travels through air at the speed of light. Every human was simultaneously infected, condemned, tortured. A morbid symphony dyes the world in a bleak salvo. Words lose meaning, cultures go extinct, torment unceasing. In their pain, they became unable to breathe. If the battle does not end in Ledaine's defeat, no one will be left. Humanity would all have suffocated.
If examined, the magic contained in the curse was only up to a C grade quantity in each individual. Magical girls would largely be resistant or unaffected unless they were one of the weakest at E grade. Nonetheless, Yggdrasil's role hasn't changed. Speeding up the pace of battle has only made the enemy impatient and begin his attack on the populace. Things weren't looking too bright.
The time limit is no longer on Yggdrasil's own life, so it's been placed on the rest of humanity. An efficient way of slaughter with the least amount of magic used possible, it didn't affect his ability to battle whatsoever.
"This is the true strength of a heavenly king. A being of legend, an unnatural force that overturns all that is norm." (Ledaine)
He looked to be an average looking man in a formal 2 piece suit. White button shirt, black vest, one you could find anywhere. Yet, this must have been the most threatening being she ever faced. She speeds through the air, accelerating to the extreme. She needs to put an end to this. She didn't care if this was a trap he laid. From beginning to end, she was made to gamble and lose what she treasured.
Her great sword slices through the air, cleaving the atmosphere in half. Ledaine easily avoids the attack by flying slightly higher. He enters the range of her next attacks, as she never stopped to close the distance. Consecutively, she thrusts her sword back and forth. A scythe appears, trapping some of the thrusts and fending her off as Ledaine flew backwards to put more space between them. She was on a timer, he wasn't. There's no sense in engaging with risk.
That's right, caution will be thrown to the wind. Condensing {Feed} energy into a orb floating above her sword, the blackish red sphere flies like a bullet before exploding. Naturally, she shot it at Ledaine. Before the smoke clears, she flies into it at full speed, wherein her great sword engages close quarters combat with a scythe. The tips slam, her arms bring it to her left shoulder for another swing, then to the right, using momentum and her core to power the next attack. Thud, thud, slam! Collision after collision, metallic screeches ring out under stress.
Shifting her weight closer under all of that dark smog blocking her vision, she thrusts her blade forward and it meets another. As if magic debris could block either of their visions, they were fighting just fine under all that black. Swinging outwards, they pulled their weapons back and readied for the next engagement. Her magic explodes, in a burst of enhancement, she races closer and slice a few times. In that clash, she arrives behind the enemy, with blood spurting out of various wounds that just formed.
{Feed} is not meant to grant physical reinforcement, the more she enhanced her physicality with {Feed}, the more the cost increases exponentially. It's easy to conclude that she was getting impatient, but how long did people have left before they suffocated to death? From the start of the apocalyptic disease magic, 4 minutes? If its only so long, she might as well use all of her magic within these 4 minutes.
Ledaine heals his wounds and begins to run. However, Yggdrasil foresaw it and already began to change after slicing through his flesh. Inevitably, she catches up as she burns more magic. He starts reinforcing his body with normal magical energy, blocking the next great sword swing. Gritting his teeth, the impact numbs his arms as much as it did hers. Another swing, the clouds part. There isn't any point in holding back. The air explodes with heat as she pivot on the great sword to scythe collision, and swung her foot at her opponent's head.
Ledaine brings up his arm, taking the kick head on had sent him flying. His vision spins as does his body, soaring through the sky. He reposition and swings his scythe, the energy they spent on each hit climbs. Collision after collision, they chain into a violent blade dance. 2 thrusts and a spin, then multiple swings. Yggdrasil's burns much more magic to drive her strength further up, while Ledaine merely releases what he actually possessed outside of Eterna's suppression.
