Chapter 27 - What is your name

Karna stood in the dimly lit alleyway, the weight of the sun mark in his hand pressing against his skin like an ancient force. His eyes narrowed as he focused on the faint but distinct sensation of dark energy seeping from it. The night around him felt unusually still, almost as if the very air was holding its breath, sensing something was about to shift.

"So, what can you tell me about this mark?" Karna muttered to himself, his voice barely a whisper in the alley's quiet embrace. "I sense something… dark. Something more than just the power of the sun."

The mark itself had always been a strange artifact to him, a tool of immense potential. He had felt its power stir within him ever since its first manifestation, but this darker energy… this was new. He wasn't sure if it was his own growing powers or if the mark was evolving, but he could feel its influence—a connection to something deeper, something that didn't quite fit with the natural balance of the world.

There were five known elements in this world—Sun, Moon, Earth, Gravity, and Light—each tied to the core of the world and its magical system. But then there was the Void. The elusive, forbidden element that existed beyond the grasp of the natural order, too dangerous for most to even acknowledge. Those who wielded it were few, and they were often classified as Assassin Hunters. It was not a power one could control easily, nor was it one that could be openly embraced without consequence. The Void was tied to darkness, to emptiness, and to the unknown. It was chaos incarnate—an energy that could unmake as easily as it could create.

Karna clenched his fist around the sun mark, his mind racing. The mark might be tied to the sun, but the energy he was feeling wasn't just solar—it was as though something from the Void had latched onto it, trying to make its presence known. He felt a tug within his soul, a whisper from the deepest corners of his consciousness, beckoning him toward a path he wasn't sure he wanted to follow.

[I gotta say Host, you found something interesting, but sell it in auction, this is disgrace to my name]

Karna's grip on the Sun mark tightened, a cold, unsettling chill running down his spine as the voice spoke inside his mind. It was the same voice that had been with him since he absorbed the powers of various Echoes—a presence that was both alien and familiar. The voice was now laced with a tone of disdain, as if the very idea of this power being linked to him was a betrayal.

"Sell it?" Karna muttered, raising an eyebrow. He had already known that the mark wasn't just any ordinary object, but hearing the suggestion to simply dispose of it like any other commodity left him with a sense of unease. The presence, although used to having its own way, didn't often speak with this kind of urgency. "This power is not something I can just get rid of, is it? It's a part of me now."

The voice was silent for a moment, as if contemplating Karna's response. Then, a more frustrated tone echoed in his mind.

[The Void is dangerous. It corrupts everything it touches, Host. If you want to continue on your path without the burden of its chaos, you would do well to rid yourself of it. Don't let it consume you. You may not realize it now, but you are being pulled into its depths.]

Karna exhaled slowly, trying to calm the storm of thoughts brewing in his mind. The Sun mark had already revealed its potential, but this darker pull—it felt different. It wasn't just power; it was a force of destruction. The Void had never been something he sought, but it was beginning to feel like it was seeking him.

"What if I don't want to be pulled in?" Karna's voice hardened with resolve. He was a man of many skills, and he knew the weight of his decisions. He had absorbed powers that could change the course of his life, but this… this felt different. "What if I want to understand it? Control it?"

The voice in his head scoffed.

[Control it? You would be the first. The Void is not something that can be tamed. It devours its hosts and those around them. You have already seen its consequences in the few who wield it. You should heed the warning, Karna.]

Karna stood silently for a moment, his gaze falling to the dark alley around him. The night felt colder now, as if it were closing in. The Void—this unseen element—was not something he could ignore. Even if he wanted to rid himself of it, it was already within him, connected to the Sun mark, marking his fate in ways he didn't fully understand.

His fingers brushed against the mark, feeling its heat now tinged with the cold pull of darkness. With a deep breath, Karna made a decision.

"If it's truly mine now… then I will make it work for me." His voice was firm, filled with determination. "I will learn its secrets, not let it control me. I'll take this path, but on my terms."

The voice seemed to pause, as if weighing his resolve. Then, it finally spoke again, a touch of reluctant acceptance in its tone.

[Very well. But remember, once you choose this path, there is no going back. The Void will always be with you, in the shadows, waiting for you to slip.]

Karna didn't respond immediately. Instead, he turned and began to walk away from the alley, the weight of the Sun mark still heavy in his hand, but his heart resolute. Whatever the Void held in store for him, he would face it. He wasn't about to let anything control him—not even a force as ancient and chaotic as the Void.

As he walked deeper into the night, a new awareness began to settle within him. The journey ahead would be dangerous, but Karna knew one thing for certain—he would rise above it, like the sun that always rises, no matter the darkness that tried to pull it down.

Karna then looked at the sun mark, he nevered asked one thing. "You say it a disgrace to your name what's is your name".

[I am now by many names, The Great Fire, The Great Sun, The Resident, but my true name is Cthugha Host]

Karna's brows furrowed as he heard the name, "Cthugha." It echoed in his mind, but it carried with it nothing familiar, no hint of ancient legends or forbidden texts. He had encountered countless names throughout his life—gods, demons, even forgotten entities—but this one… it meant nothing. There was no history, no myth, no story that came to mind when he heard it.

"Cthugha…" Karna repeated the name, testing it on his tongue. It felt foreign, unsettling, as though he had stumbled upon something that wasn't supposed to exist in his world. He couldn't shake the feeling that whatever it was, it had a weight far beyond just this strange mark on his hand.

"I've never heard of you," Karna said aloud, still looking at the mark. "And I've heard of a lot of things, even the obscure ones."

[That is to be expected. My name is ancient and forgotten in your world. Even the oldest records and histories wouldn't acknowledge it. But I exist, Host. And now, you are bound to me.]

The voice held a strange, quiet pride, as though it relished the mystery surrounding its existence. Cthugha—The Great Fire, The Great Sun, The Resident—names that painted a picture of power and heat, of destruction and creation, yet none of it made sense to Karna. This entity had not appeared in any myths or stories, and it seemed far too vast to be ignored. But the fact that Cthugha spoke so freely about its ancient nature was even more unsettling.

"And why me?" Karna questioned, his gaze darkening. "Why have you chosen to bind yourself to me?"

The voice in his mind seemed to pause, as if considering his question. Finally, it spoke again, but this time with an edge of mystery that made Karna's heart quicken.

[The reasons are not simple, Host. Your path has always been different from the others. You've walked a road marked by fire and shadows, and now, that road has led you to me. You will come to understand why in time. All that matters is that I am here, and you will use my power. Together, we will reshape your world.]

Karna felt the weight of the words, but the sense of urgency in the voice made him hesitant. Whatever this Cthugha was, whatever it represented, it wasn't just a forgotten entity—it was something more. It was ancient, and now it was tied to him.

"I'll reshape my world, but I do it on my own terms," Karna muttered, his grip tightening on the Sun mark once more. Despite the unease that bubbled beneath the surface, there was an undeniable draw to the power that surged through him. There was too much at stake now—he had to understand this, control it, or risk being consumed by it.

He could feel the energy pulsating within him, the duality of fire and shadow mixing in his veins, urging him to explore it, to harness it. The mark seemed to burn even brighter now, as if it were awakening, sensing Karna's resolve.

Karna sighed deeply, his eyes narrowing in determination. "I will figure this out. But for now, I need answers, not riddles."

[In time, Host, in time.]

Karna turned away from the alley, the chill of the night air mixing with the fire that now burned within him. He didn't have the luxury of waiting for the answers to come to him. No, he had to seek them out. If Cthugha's power truly could reshape his world, then Karna would do what he had always done: learn, adapt, and control.

With the mark still glowing faintly in his palm, he set off into the night, the future uncertain but his resolve unwavering.

Karna was now in his room, he has new habit, it was simple he always checks anything new he gets, as he tapped the sun mark on his hand as the system Box opened

Karna read through everything. "So this all the thing I have so far".

[Yeah pretty much]

Karna looked at the spoke. "I should try out the Specter Knight Transformation one day".

[You should, quick question why did you but your Bow and Spear in the system]

Karna then spoke. "Better then having in my room 24/7".

As then fire came from his arm, it didn't harm him, as he was just confused. "Ok what the hell did you do".

[Tryes do removed the void element from your body, I can't have my host living with something like that, and before you say what about the Platinum rank Hunter Rajat, he was born with, there is difference between getting the power and being born with it]

Karna watched as the dark flames flickered across his arm, their presence unnatural yet strangely familiar. Void element, huh? He hadn't expected to have something like that in him, but now that Cthugha was actively trying to remove it, he had more questions than answers.

"So you're telling me that because I wasn't born with Void, it's dangerous for me to have it?" Karna asked, flexing his fingers as the black fire dissipated. He could still feel something lingering—like an echo of that power deep within him.

[Exactly. Rajat was born with Void, meaning his body naturally adapted to its existence. You, however, just absorbed it, meaning it could corrupt you over time. Void is a tricky element, especially for someone who already holds strong elemental affinities like you. Sun, Fire, Light, Gravity, and now Moon—you're already balancing a lot. Adding Void is like throwing oil into a wildfire. It could consume you if left unchecked.]

Karna frowned. He wasn't an expert on magic systems, but he understood danger when he saw it. "Then why did I even get it in the first place?"

[Likely from one of the enemies you've defeated or something you've interacted with. Power absorption isn't an exact science—especially when dealing with unique elements.]

Karna exhaled through his nose, rubbing his temples. "And what happens if you can't remove it?"

The system was silent for a moment.

[Then… you'll have to master it before it masters you.]

Karna chuckled dryly. "Figures. Nothing's ever easy."

Still, he couldn't deny the potential. Void was an element that few wielded, and even if it was dangerous, it was also powerful. If he could learn to control it instead of letting it consume him, then maybe—just maybe—it would become another weapon in his arsenal.

For now, though, he had other things to focus on.

"Alright, let's put Void on hold. I want to test Specter Knight tomorrow," Karna decided, glancing at his unlocked transformation. If he was going to survive whatever insanity this world threw at him, he needed to understand every ability he had.

[Got it. Just don't overdo it, Host. You're strong, but you're not invincible.]

Karna smirked. "We'll see about that."
