Arthur's hand closed around the hilts of the two swords.
They weren't like normal weapons; they were extensions of himself, holding the essence of Great Red and Ophis.
The blades glowed softly as he held them out.
A shimmering doorway, a tear in the very fabric of space, opened up before him.
It didn't look dangerous, just like a window to another place. Still, a chill ran down his spine.
"Arthur… where are you going?"
Aerith's voice was soft, sleepy.
He smiled gently and kissed her forehead.
"Just for a moment. Something I need to check on."
She nodded, a trust so deep he could feel it.
"Be safe,"
She whispered.
He gave her a final squeeze before he stood up.
He walked toward the glowing portal, the swords held firmly in his grasp.
The air around it felt different, heavy with a power that wasn't his own.
As he stepped through, the world around him melted away.
The comfortable living room, the city lights below, the scent of dinner cooking—all of it vanished, replaced by a cold, endless void.
This was the space between worlds, a place where time and space had no meaning.
Stars were not scattered points of light, but swirling galaxies of color that danced in the distance.
He felt small, yet at the same time, immense, as if he were part of the very emptiness around him.
He could feel Great Red and Ophis' presence, not as a voice in his head, but as a deep, reassuring hum within his Lifestream.
They were here, or their essence was, guiding him.
A wave of strange energy washed over him.
It wasn't harmful, just… different. He felt a tug, a gentle pull toward a point in the distance.
He knew what it was without being told. This was the portal to their world.
He began to float through the void, propelled by a force he didn't quite understand.
It was like swimming through nothingness, a sensation both terrifying and exhilarating.
He passed by stars being born and galaxies dying, moments of creation and destruction unfolding in the silent darkness.
His mind, empowered by his connection to the Lifestream, took it all in without being overwhelmed.
He felt the knowledge of it all, the history of this cosmic space, flow into him.
As he got closer, the portal began to take shape.
It wasn't a swirling tear like the one he came through, but a solid gate of light, humming with power.
It looked like a doorway in a forgotten, ancient temple, made of pure light.
'So this is it,'
He thought. He felt a jolt of anxiety. This was no ordinary trip.
He was entering a world he knew from stories, a world where angels, devils, and gods fought for power.
A world that was about to be changed by his presence.
He reached out his hand, and the gate opened, bathing the void in a brilliant, blinding light.
The sound of a world alive rushed in to meet him.
It was a cacophony of voices, of magic, and of something he hadn't heard in a long time—the familiar rhythm of a world's Lifestream.
He stepped through, and the cold void was replaced by a warm, familiar air.
He was standing on a cobblestone path in a quiet, forested park.
The sun was setting, casting long shadows across the trees.
In the distance, he could hear the sound of traffic and the faint buzz of a city.
He felt a wave of dizziness as he landed, the sudden change in reality almost too much.
The Sacred Gears, his link to Great Red and Ophis, hummed with a renewed power, anchoring him to this new world.
The swords had vanished, replaced by the two Sacred Gears, one on each wrist, shimmering like bracelets.
A familiar voice echoed in his head, filled with a mix of awe and amusement.
"Wow, Arthur! It worked! You're in our world!"
Great Red's voice was full of excitement.
"I can't believe it,"
Arthur thought back, his eyes scanning the park.
'So, this is where the story begins… Where Issei was killed.'
The setting sun painted the sky in shades of orange and pink as Arthur walked along the path.
The air was cool and smelled of damp earth and city exhaust, a strange mix he hadn't experienced in a while.
The park was peaceful, with a few people scattered around—a couple walking a dog, a group of high schoolers talking on a bench, and a lone man reading a book under a lamppost.
It felt so normal. Yet, he knew it wasn't.
This was the world of DxD, a place of supernatural beings and ancient conflicts.
He had to be careful, to find what he needed and return home without causing too much of a stir.
"Alright, let's get our bearings,"
He thought, directing the question to the two entities within his Sacred Gears.
"Where exactly are we?"
"Kuoh Town, Arthur. We're in Kuoh Town,"
Ophis's voice was softer than Great Red's, more like a whisper in the wind.
"The very place where the story of the Sekiryuutei is about to begin. The Red Dragon Emperor, Issei Hyoudou, is somewhere in this very town."
A jolt went through him. Issei. The hero of this world, the one destined to wield the very power that now resided within his own wrist.
The irony was almost comical.
Arthur, the Lifestream-infused, semi-godly being, was walking around with the powers of the two most powerful beings in this universe, while the future Red Dragon Emperor was likely just a perverted high school student, completely oblivious to his own destiny.
"Okay, so what's the plan? Do we find him? Or do we wait for things to play out?"
Arthur asked.
"The first step, Arthur, is to be inconspicuous,"
Great Red chimed in.
"This is a world with its own balance. Too much power in one place can cause… unintended consequences."
Arthur looked down at the black suit he was now wearing. It was stylish, almost too perfect.
He felt the two bracelets on his wrists.
They were his anchors, his connection to this world, but also a beacon of immense power.
It wouldn't do to go walking around with them so obviously.
He focused his mind, channeling a bit of the Lifestream's energy.
The bracelets shimmered and dissolved, their forms becoming simple, silver bands on his wrists.
He felt a sense of relief. Blending in was the best way to start.
"Much better,"
He thought.
"Now, what about a place to stay?"
"Don't worry about that,"
Great Red's voice was filled with a familiar confidence.
"Biblical God already took care of it. A small apartment, fully furnished. It's right near Issei's school. You'll be able to observe everything from a safe distance."
Arthur raised an eyebrow.
'Biblical God?'
Hearing that, It made him wonder just how much of his journey had been planned out by him from the start.
He shook the thought away. It didn't matter.
He was here now, and he had to see this through.
He pulled out his phone, a simple, non-descript model that had also appeared with him.
'He also prepared this…'
He checked the map.
The apartment was a short walk away.
He began to head in that direction, the city sounds growing louder as he left the quiet park.
The people he passed by seemed to go about their lives, unaware of the cosmic forces at play, unaware that a being from another dimension was walking among them.
He couldn't shake the feeling of being an actor on a stage, with the entire world watching.
His every move felt significant, his every thought a ripple in the fabric of this reality.
He was a catalyst, a force of change, and the weight of that knowledge was heavy.
As he walked, he passed by a convenience store, its bright lights a stark contrast to the fading light of the day.
A group of teenagers laughed as they exited, one of them, a boy with messy brown hair and a goofy grin, looking a little too eager at the sight of a girl in a school uniform.
It was an ordinary scene, but Arthur knew better.
He felt a faint, almost imperceptible hum of power coming from the boy. Issei Hyoudou.
Arthur didn't stop. He didn't even turn his head. He just kept walking, a ghost in the crowd.
He was here to observe, not to interfere.
Not yet, anyway. He had to know first what role he was going to play.
