Chapter 296 - A True Hero Defeats the Hero Killer

MHA Universe, Earth, Japan, Tokyo.

"Oh, he actually got him to do it." Alfonzo, flying over Hosu, said while watching the Sports Festival on his lPhone. "And he actually did it in a righteous way. Honestly, I thought he was just going to beat the hell out of Todoroki until he had no choice but to use his flames."

While flying through the air and watching the Sports Festival, Alfonzo was also scanning the ground below for a specific bio-electric signal. To be specific, he was looking for the bio-electric signal of another Hero who he knew worked in this part of Tokyo, Tenya's brother, Ida Tensei, also known as Ingenium.

Because if things followed the canon, the chances of finding Stain would tie in directly with finding Ingenium, since the Hero Killer had crippled Ingenium in the canon, leading to the Her Killer Arc that concluded with Izuku, Tenya, and Shoto defeating Stain in an alley while protecting a different pro Hero.

Unfortunately, Alfonzo had no idea that because of his and Tatsuo's interference at the USJ, Shigaraki Tomura and Kurogiri moved to cooperate with Stan much earlier in the timeline.

However, it was lucky that when Stain turned hostile after hearing their plan, Kurogiri [Warped] him to somewhere in Hosu, moving the timeline back on track.

"Oh, there he is." Alfonzo said after feeling Ingenium's bio-electric signal. "God damn it… Looks like I need to hurry. He's not moving at all."

*Zap!*

With that, Alfonzo dashed forward with a streak of violet lightning trailing behind him. And that streak was enough to brighten the already bright skies of Tokyo, causing many civilians to look up and point at the phenomenon.

"Mommy, what's that?" A little girl asked as she pointed up at the trail Alfonzo left behind.

"It's probably a Hero going to help someone." The little girl's mother replied with a smile.

"I wanna be a Hero when I grow up!" The little girl shouted excitedly.

Many similar conversations could be heard along Alfonzo's route as he passed by. However, before the sounds even had a chance to reach him, he was already far in the distance.

Eventually, Alfonzo reached the signature he was looking for. Lying on the ground was a man wearing a black bodysuit under armor that covered his head, chest, arms, and lower legs. On top of that, he had a set of engines growing from his elbows.

Though, the fact that his armor was scuffed and had a few scratches in it, adding to the fact that the bodysuit covering his abdomen had been sliced, revealing a thin patch of bloodied flesh, it was clear that this man, Ingenium, had seen better days.

And the reason behind Ingenium's damaged armor and injuries was standing over him. With a katana raised over his head and a disgusted expression on his face, Stain stood there, looking as though he was ready to deliver the final blow.

"Yet another false Hero." Stain said while standing over the completely immobile Ingenium. "Truly a pity. So many have strayed from the path of true heroism. But don't' worry, I will eventually clean this corrupt society of all its false Heroes."

The fear in Ingenium's eyes was palpable. He could tell, if he was unable to move, Stain's blow would, at the very least, leave him unable to feel his legs. And at the worst, end his life.

*Swish!*

Stain slashed at Ingenium's back without mercy, clearly aiming to cut the Hero in two. However, the slash was stopped less than an inch away from Ingenium's back and no matter how hard he tried to push forward, there was nothing he could do.

*Scrape~~~~~~!*

Looking closer, Stain noticed thin arcs of violet electricity flowing over the blade of his sword, causing the Hero Killer to narrow his eyes. However, when he heard the sound of metal being dragged across the alley's floor, he looked away from his sword only to see Ingenium, still unable to move on his own, sliding across the ground with is armor also covered in thin arcs of the same violet electricity.

"Static..." Stain said quietly as he raised his head.

"Yo." Alfonzo, standing atop his metal disc, said casually as he waved at Stain like an old buddy.

"Why are you here?" Stain asked. "Shouldn't you be in Musutafu at the U.A. Sports Festival?"

"You know, it's kinda creepy that you know my schedule so well." Alfonzo said while shaking his head. "You're not some kind of stalker, are you?"

Stain only continued to stare at Alfonzo, clearly waiting for an answer to his question.

"*Sigh* You're no fun." Alfonzo said with a shrug. "Anyway, to answer your question, I linked myself into all the country's radio waves since there would be a shortage of Heroes around the nation due to the Sports Festival. And as it just so happened, I heard a report of you being sighted in Hosu. And knowing that there probably wasn't anyone strong enough to stop you from killing another Hero, I came all the way out here to make sure you didn't hurt anyone else."

"Truly Admirable." Stain said with a nod as he released the hilt of his katana and took a step back. He then began dropping all of his other blades, knowing that they would only be a hinderance fighting someone like Alfonzo with is [Electromagnetic Quirk]. "Unfortunately, I cannot allow you to stop me. I still need to change this rotten Hero Society."

"*Sigh* For some reason I was hoping you would just let me take you in." Alfonzo said in a disappointed tone. "My cousin is participating in the Sports Festival, you know? And I really wanna be there to cheer him on."

*Clink!*

By the time Alfonzo finished speaking, Stain had dropped the last of his blades. Or the last of his metal blades, anyway. Because he pulled out a pair of what appeared to be ceramic knives from his boots only a moment later.

"Oh, not bad." Alfonzo said with a smile. "But do you really think those two knives will be enough to fight me?"

"Not enough to win." Stain said, but definitely enough to escape."

*Swoosh!*

Then, as soon as his words ended, Stain threw one of the knives at Ingenium, aiming at his inner thigh where he knew there was a major artery.

*Clang!*

However, before the knife could even get close, Alfonzo, still controlling the katana, quickly moved it to deflect the knife. At the same time, Stain reached behind his back and pulled out another ceramic knife.

"Seriously, how do you even move so freely with all those weapons?" Alfonzo asked curiously. "They really should be weighing you down."

Stain only snorted as he continued to back away. He then threw the pair of ceramic knives at Ingenium to distract Alfonzo before pulling another pair from his costume. At least, until he reached the end of the alley.

*Cling!* *Cling!*

Yet, Alfonzo was able to block the two flying knives with a pair of the knives Stain dropped earlier.

"You really are a Hero." Stain said as he reached the end of the alley. He then spun around to make his escape as he continued. "But I can't stop until I've changed this--- Urgh!"

*Bang!*

Yet, just as he made the turn, he slammed directly into a sedan that was floating behind him. Then, as he stumbled backwards from the collision, the katana he left behind swept at the back of his knees. Though, Alfonzo only used the back of the blade.

*Rip!*

As Stain fell onto his back, he heard the sound of the sedan's bumpers being torn off. And by the time he actually hit the ground, the two bumpers were floating above him, looking as if they were going to crush him.

*Bang!*

However, Alfonzo had no intention of taking things that far. Instead, he pierced the sides of the bumpers into the floor on either side of Stain, pinning him to the ground with them.

"This won't hold me forever, Static." Stain said, his tone much calmer than one would expect from a captured villain. "I will change this society. All the false Heroes will be eliminated."

"As much fun as having a civil conversation with a serial killer would be, I know that I can't change your mind about this." Alfonzo said in an exasperated tone. "So, I'm not even gonna try. But killing Heroes isn't gonna make the difference you think it will."

With that said, Alfonzo left Stain there and made his way over to Ingenium.

"Yo, how ya feelin', Tensei?" Alfonzo asked as he squatted down next to Ingenium, or rather Ida Tensei. "Wanna tell me why you're just lying there, waiting to be sliced up?"

"It's because of his [Quirk]." Tensei replied in a downcast tone. "He cut me, then he licked the blood off his sword. And when he did, I couldn't move."

"Hmm…" Alfonzo hummed in contemplation as if he did not already know that. "That could be troublesome. Though, it also explains why he carried so many blades. Still can't understand how he carried so many without slowing down, though."

*Bang!*

As he finished speaking, Alfonzo exerted a bit of extra force on the bumpers holding Stain in place, as he had been slowly pushing them out of the ground.

"Then again, his [Quirk] must increase his strength, too." Alfonzo continued nonchalantly. "We'll have to take all that into account when he's taken into custody later."

"I hope this paralysis isn't permanent." Tensei said while trying, and failing, to look at Stain.

"Yeah, that would suck for you." Alfonzo replied. "Anyway, I've already contacted the police. So, I'll stay here with you to make sure nothing goes wrong… By the way, where are your sidekicks?"

"I sent them away when we first encountered him." Tensei said. "Honestly, I didn't think he would be such a hassle. But since so many Heroes had lost their lives to him, I didn't wanna see them get hurt in case I couldn't handle him. And as it turns out, that was the right decision."

"Yeah, definitely a good call." Alfonzo said as he sat down next to Tensei. He then continued as he pulled out his lPhone. "Anyway, your little brother is participating in the U.A. Sports Festival. He even made it to the final round. So, let's watch it until the police get here."

"Sounds good to me." Tensei replied, his tone making it clear that he was smiling proudly. "Tenya makes me so proud."

*Bang!* *Zap!*

"Yeah, he's a good kid." Alfonzo replied while pressing the bumpers down again. And because he was getting annoyed by Stain's persistence, he shot an arc of electricity into the bumpers to make Stain calm down. "A little too straight-forward, though. He needs to learn how to be more flexible."

While continuing to chat with Tensei, Alfonzo opened the U.A. Sports Festival stream on his lPhone. Unfortunately, he was too late to see the end of Tatsuo's match with Shoto. Not that Alfonzo felt there wasn't any suspense. Still, he would have liked to see how the match ended for himself.

Checking the highlights, Alfonzo was proven correct, Tatsuo dominated the fight almost as easily as he had before Shoto decided to use his flames. The only real difference was the fact that Tatsuo had to avoid massive steam explosions on top of waves of flame and ice. Though, if Tatsuo wanted to make things easy, he could have just used [Kamui] to walk through all of Shoto's attacks before putting him down with a single strike.

On a side note, as soon as Shoto lost, Endeavor was caught on camera storming off with his flames flaring in outrage, and Tatsuo smirking up at him from the ring.

'Oh, I almost forgot, apparently Endeavor went to intimidate T.' Alfonzo muttered internally. 'Maybe I should go put him in his place like T did to his son…'

Like that, Alfonzo and Tensei watched and listened to the Sports Festival broadcast, the match between Eijiro and Fumikage until Stain's [Quirk] finally wore off, and Tensei was able to move again.

"Ah~~~! At least, it didn't last too long." Tensei said once he could move again. "Still, a [Quirk] like that is really dangerous when in the hands of a Villain."

"Especially when you have no prior knowledge." Alfonzo added. "Even so, not getting hit or cut in the first place would have made that a moot point."

"I guess you're right." Tensei said while shaking his head as he sat up. "But I don't' think I was even being careless. I let him cut me so I could land a more devastating blow."

"Ah, trading injuries." Alfonzo replied with a nod. "Yeah, I guess I can see that. But then his [Quirk] let him change the rules of the game."

"Exactly." Tensei replied. "But it taught me a lesson. That's for sure."

"Well, I'm just glad I got here in time." Alfonzo said with a shrug. "Because if I hadn't, I could only imagine what your brother would have tried to do after he found out you were paralyzed, or worse."

Hearing Alfonzo mention his brother, Tensei wanted to deny that Tenya would have tried anything outrageous. However, when he remembered how much Tenya looked up to him, Tensei could not get the words of denial out of his mouth. So, instead of trying to deny it, he only exhaled a long sigh.

While that conversation was happening, the match between Eijiro and Fumikage came to an end with Fumikage as the victor. After that, Hizashi introduced the next fighters.

"Oh, it's your brother's turn." Alfonzo said with a smile. "Unfortunately, he probably won't go past this round."

"You can't say that so early." Tensei replied, his tone making it clear that he was unhappy with Alfonzo's assessment. "You never know the outcome of an engagement until it is over."

"Yeah, that's why I said probably." Alfonzo replied nonchalantly. "But I've been teaching these kids since the USJ Incident. So, I've got pretty good insight into what they're capable of. On top of that, my cousin has been training with the kid your brother is fighting, Midoriya, for more than a year. So, I'm even more aware of what he's capable of than the others."

'Plus, Midoriya is this generation's carrier of [One for All].' Alfonzo added silently. 'Not to mention the built-in plot armor that comes with it, he was way further in its development at this point in the canon. Hell, If Midoriya pushes his speed to its current limit, Ida wouldn't even be able to see the dust he leaves behind.'

*Whee-Whoo!* *Whee-Whoo!* *Whee-Whoo!*

Just as that thought passed through Alfonzo's head, and the match between Izuku and Tenya was about to begin, the sound of police sirens could be heard approaching the alley where Alfonzo, Stain, and Tensei were located. And when the two Heroes heard the sirens, they both sighed.

"Looks like we'll have to catch the highlights of this match, too." Alfonzo muttered to himself. "I'm going straight back to Musutafu after this. I don't' wanna miss anymore matches."

"Are those kids really that impressive.?" Tensei asked as he stood up and stretched.

"Honestly, not really." Alfonzo replied. "Still, I like to watch a good fight. Always have."

Tensei only shook his head in response before turning to the alley's entrance where a squadron of police wearing riot gear was approaching.

"Anyway, after we get the Hero Killer into custody, I guess I'll see you later, Static." Tensei said while holding out a hand for a handshake. "I've still got a patrol to take care of."

"Yeah, you should probably leave that to your sidekicks." Alfonzo replied while accepting Tensei's handshake. "You, on the other hand, should get that wound taken care of. Plus, it's not a good look for a Hero to be patrolling with a damaged costume."

Looking down at himself, Tensei could not help but agree with Alfonzo's suggestion. Meanwhile, Alfonzo, using his [Quirk], cooperated with the police to get Stain cuffed and settled in the armored vehicle that would take him to jail. After that, Alfonzo bid Tensei farewell before flying back towards Musutafu.
