Magic, to the untrained and naive even the most mundane of slight of hand tricks seem like magic. That in it itself is a wonder of the human mind , to find joy in a simple routine of hand movements. MAgic can be interpretted in many ways, something mystical, something impossible , the usual tricks of the trained performers or just dumb luck of a fool trying something insane. Some magic loses its wonder when explained because then it becomes science. Which is why many practioners agree to not reveal their secrets all willy nilly.
"Don't be like that, tell me how you got the rose? ". Rosalind inquired as they walked back to the offfice.
"Rosalind I just said, if I reveal it doesn't stay magic but becomes science. That isn't a bad thing because science has made all the wonders in this world, especially food , heck even love is just a chemical in th--" Adrian's words were cut off by a heavy push. Rosalind had him pinned against the corrider wall.
"Rosalind we're in the company building , we probably shouldn't do this elsewhere, although i don't mind if we --" The gibbering mess gets silenced by a gentle finger to his lips by the elegent lady.
"It's Mrs. Powell now, I ask as your boss, tell me how did you get the rose?" her voice low but powerful, but it definetly won't be enough to bend a storng practioner's code of not revealin--
"I tipped the ice cream vendor to run and get some flowers, luckily he only got a rose, i kept stalling for time by talking and when he returned i distracted you and swiped the flower from him".
. . ., sigh, a disgrace to all magic practioners.

"Impressive, to be able to concieve of a trick on the spot. You will definetly will be a great asset in the future". Mrs. Powell lifts up from pushing Adrian against the wall and starts walking. Adrian still barely standing , his heart beating faster than a punk rock guitarist on all his favurite powders. He sees the woman he loves and realizes, she has no clue the immense power she possesses and that he defiently wont be getting a wink of sleep tonight.
Mrs. Powel continued walking a few paces ahead. Adrian started walking after he got his composure. One step at a time, he started walking slowly , only to be yoinked at the corner. Luckily he stopped from throwing a punch just in time.
"Sarah , what?!" Adrian asked as he breathes heavily, still not fully calm yet.
"Ohh my word, i saw that. You sly dog." Sarah teased and punched Adrian's shoulder.
"Ow, also shhh, it's not what you think."
"Oh I'm pretty sure it was exactly what it looked like, we ladies have keen eyes".
"Sure 4 eyes. Ow, what was that for" Adrian retorted and expected not getting another punt from Sarah.
"Tell me the details, no actually tell me in brief I want the details later in written". Sarah clearly starving for some action.
"I didn't do nothing , she just wanted to know about my magic and i refused." Adrian still not making eye contact .
"And thennn???" Sarah squeezing out the answer like lemon juice.
"And then you saw what happened. Okay i gotta go" Adrian trying to avoid the love hungry coworker.
"No,you stay!" Sarah grabbed Adrian by his collar.
'Man the self defence classes on S.T.A.R. Labs are quite effective huh' Adrian thought still avoiding eye contact.
"Aww are you blushing?" Sarah with her 4 eyes of observation.
"No! Bye." Adrian still flushed got away. Thinking she doesn't need to know everything, but she knew more than him, for she saw the rosy cheeks of the fair maiden as she walked away showing her strong back. Sarah had witnessed the first blooms of spring and couldn't wait for the flowers to thrive.
Adrian paced back to his lab and sat down, Harold barely noticed him sit. They both sat in their chairs not talking.
The clacking of keyboards, the murmur of workers, the infrequent clang of metal equipments and the subtle hum of the ac, all of them very not enought to drown out Adrian's heartbeat and his heavy breathing. He took his water bottle and gulped down half of it. When trying to grab a folder from behind their desk he messed up and dropped an entire stack of papers. Still not fully calmed down he sat down and started arranging the papers back to order based on dates. The moments pass, the heavy huffs of discomfort were replaced by rustling to pages. Adrian then puts the stack back on the table and Harold handed him a big empty folder from his drawer.
"Thanks for arranging them." Harold said calmly without switching his glance from his computer.
"You're welcome." Adrian said as he sat down and rocked back in his chair.
"So Harold do you have a girlfriend?" Adrian asked.
Harold stopped his work, took a deep breath let out a deep sigh and then rotated to face Adrian.
"Listen mate, we barely met a few weeks ago. I don't know you that well so sorry I'm not interested." Harold said with his eyes locked in and slight dismay in his voice.
"What? You don't have one or you do? I was looking for some advice." Said the naive intern.
"Oh ,sure mate. What do you want to know?" Harold let out a sigh of relief.
Adrian goes on explaining what happened this morning till what happened just a few moments ago. Harold sat there wondering is this a soap opera happening in front of his eyes.
"So what do you think?"
"I think you have it great. Get on with it and take her out."
"Are you sure? When we had breakfast today nothing weird happened, it felt more like family than a couple."
"Hold the phone, you had breakfast with her?"
"Well yeah, i made her some when she woke up and we also had soup with our neighbour."
"She woke up? You guys slept under the same roof?"
"Yeah she slept on my bed--"
"Shut the front door. Wait, were you sleeping on the floor?"
"No, i slept on a mattress on the floor."
"Figures."
"Anyway, what do you think i should do?"
"Well you didn't do the most obvious thing (her), maybe she likes that. Mature woman love a gent. Just keep doing what you're doing and be yourself."
"Okay, thanks for the advice, matey."
"Please dont' say it like that."
