Three Months Later, at the Land of Light Academy
The people of the Light Continent were renowned for their beautiful white eyes, their whiteness reminiscent of pristine snow. However, the royal family of this race possessed an additional distinction that bestowed a regal aura upon their presence, one that had endured for over 3,000 years: white hair.
The teacher elucidated this while drawing on the large blackboard, then gracefully approached Nyx and pointed to her hair, saying, "White hair." Nyx was the only girl in the class with long, white hair. Everyone turned to look at her, their hands covering their mouths in disbelief, unable to fathom that they were in the same class as a member of the royal family.
This was their first year together, and they had already noticed Nyx's white hair and her captivating beauty, a beauty that could make the greatest men kneel before her. Yet, they couldn't bring themselves to speak to her or confirm her identity, as Nyx's cold demeanor created an impenetrable barrier between her and the rest of the world.
One student whispered to his classmate beside him, "Is she still affected by her past?!"
The other student gently placed his hand on his friend's arm and said, "Be quiet, or you'll put us all in danger."
Nyx glanced at the eyes staring at her. It was something she was accustomed to: eyes filled with admiration, pity, love, and envy. She had spent her entire life observing these eyes that observed her. To her, humans were cursed creatures, unworthy of remaining alive. Why should she bother explaining herself to them or even talking to them?
She longed to rest her head from all of this and sleep peacefully. She disliked long conversations and endless, monotonous chats. Unlike other girls, she didn't occupy her mind with trivial matters. She always had a light novel in her hand, reading to transport her mind to a different world, far removed from her own.
The teacher continued, "Today, a delegation from the world of darkness will arrive in our land." She then looked at everyone and said, "They will be fitted with white contact lenses, and the classes in the academy will be rearranged. So, after this change, someone next to you might be from the people of darkness. Therefore, you must be cautious."
Due to the fear of racism that both sides might face, or the possibility of someone from one continent attempting to kill someone from the other, both governments decided to conceal their true identities and races, hiding the one thing that distinguished the two races from each other: their eyes.
Nyx gripped the pen in her hand so tightly that it nearly snapped. She knew very well that this was the day she had been waiting for. Nyx hated humanity. She hated all creatures, but most of all, she hated the Dark Continent.
On the other side, a group of five young men and five young women disembarked from a massive ship. They looked around in awe, their eyes as blue as the depths of the night. Most of them trembled with fear.
But only one stood tall, as if he were on his own land, not in the land of his enemies. His gaze was sharp, observing everything around him.
They were on a remote beach, so no one from the Light Continent was around. Yet, they still shivered with fear.
One of them said in a hushed voice, "Is their land like ours?!"
Lucien smirked and replied, "Of course, you fool. We're on the same planet."
One of the girls giggled, looking at Lucien with admiration.
At that moment, three men with white eyes, long blonde hair, and formal white attire approached. They smiled warmly and said, "Welcome to the Light Continent."
Lucien smiled back and extended his hand.
The three men looked at Lucien's hand with surprise. Hesitation and unease were evident in their eyes. This was the first time they were required to touch the hand of someone from the Dark Continent, and it was not an easy task for them.
But Lucien stood before them, looking at them and smiling a silly smile.
Suddenly, a tall man, about thirty years old, with blue eyes and dressed entirely in black, stepped forward from behind. He put his hand out, pushing Lucien's hand away, and said, "Thank you for your welcome."
Then he took out a set of contact lenses from his pocket and gave them to his students.
Lucien looked at the two lenses in his hand and then at the other students. Everyone was putting them on.
Lucien moved his hand as if he was about to put one in, but instead, he removed a blue lens from his eye, revealing his original white eye. This was the first time in seventeen years that the truth of this eye had been revealed.
He felt a thrill inside but was afraid that someone might notice. So he quickly put the second lens on his other eye and looked at the city sprawling in the distance.
The man who was with them said to the three from the Light Continent, "Now our children are under your protection, and your children are under ours."
The three men nodded hesitantly. It was a clear threat that if anything happened to these children, the same would happen to theirs.
The place fell completely silent, and no one dared to speak.
Lucien moved his hand, scratched his head, and said in an annoyed voice, "Aren't we going to move? I'm eager to see the Land of Light."
Everyone looked at him in shock.
One of his classmates approached him, put his hand on his shoulder, and whispered in his ear, "Aren't you afraid of death, you fool?!"
Lucien smiled at his classmate and said, "No, I love life. Hahahahaha!"
Then he ran forward and said, "We only live once, so let's live it well!"
