The sky was raging.
The dark clouds rolled endlessly across the heavens, stretching like the wrathful cloak of a sleeping god. The bolts of lightning tore through the curtain of black, and each thunderclap echoed across the sea like the heartbeat of a storm.
Within that chaos, a single streak of golden light split through the night..
Luffy's body shimmered and cracked with raw electricity, his form flickering between existence and lightning as he soared across the roaring sea. Every movement left a trail of blinding sparks behind, slicing through the darkness with grace and ferocity.
The wind roared past his ears, the scent of salt and rain filling his lungs, but his gaze never wavered. His sharp eyes were locked straight ahead, toward the colossal island that loomed like a nightmare upon the horizon.
He could see Onigashima in the distance.
The skull-shaped fortress of the Beast Pirates. The dominion of Kaido, the so-called Strongest Creature in the World.
As Luffy drew closer, the island's horrifying beauty came into focus. The massive skull dome at its center glowed faintly with an orange hue, the firelight from within casting shadows through its hollow eye sockets. The port below was lined with kitsune statues, carved from ancient stone, their expressions sharp and fanged, watching over the entrance like silent judges.
Two enormous oni-faced fountains spouted water that shimmered in the storm's light, and dozens of lanterns, shaped like the grinning visages of demons, swayed gently in the wind.
Above them, a single colossal katana was buried deep into the ground, towering higher than any building, its blade glinting with lightning flashes from the heavens.
Luffy came to a stop midair, the thunder humming around his form like a loyal servant. His cloak fluttered behind him, his golden eyes reflecting the terrifying yet magnificent sight before him.
"Hah…" He exhaled softly, a smirk tugging at his lips. "So this is Kaido's fortress… not bad. The place is creepy as hell, but it's got style."
He descended slowly.
The storm seemed to follow him, lightning crawling across the clouds, thunder growling faintly as if announcing his arrival. When his boots touched the ground at the port, the wet stone hissed under the residual electricity that leaked from his skin.
He straightened his coat and took a slow look around. Even through the roar of waves, he could hear faint laughter echoing from deeper within the island.
"Figures…" He muttered, his tone light yet dangerous. "There are still a few weaklings left here to defend the fortress. Shame that Kaido and his three disasters were not here, or I would have had some fun."
His Observation Haki spread out in an invisible wave. The world around him shifted in his mind's eye; he could feel hundreds of signatures scattered across the island.
Most were weak, some trembling, and a few radiated faint hostility, but among all of them, one stood apart.
That aura was strong and bright, and there was only one person that aura belonged to.
Yamato
A faint smile curved his lips as he began walking toward the long staircase leading to the skull dome. Each step echoed against the stone, mingling with the distant rumble of thunder.
The rain began to fall in light, slanted sheets, each drop flashing for a moment as it struck the remnants of electricity around him.
"Yamato…" He whispered under his breath, his voice carried away by the wind. "The daughter of an emperor… locked away by her own father and obsessed with a dead man's dream."
He paused briefly and tilted his head toward the sky, watching a bolt of lightning snake across the clouds. His golden eyes gleamed faintly beneath the shadow of his hat.
"Kaido's kid, huh? She had the oni blood… and a wild temper." A faint chuckle left his lips. "This is going be so much interesting."
He ran a hand through his damp hair and began climbing again.
Inside, his mind was calm yet calculating.
This island was Kaido's fortress, and its corner was drenched in his presence. Yet, Kaido was not here. The monster had gone to the seas, leaving his den unguarded, and Luffy had no intention of wasting the opportunity.
He reached the top of the stairs, where the enormous gates of the Skull Dome loomed before him. The massive wooden doors were engraved with oni carvings, their eyes glowing dimly in the flicker of torches.
He raised his hand, resting his palm against the cool, wet wood.
Electricity danced across the surface, crackling softly.
"You built yourself a fine prison, Kaido," He said quietly. "Let's see how your daughter's living in it."
And then, with a sudden surge of light, his body erupted into lightning once again.
The sky split open as thunder crashed directly above Onigashima. The entire island trembled under the force of it, and several Beast Pirates inside looked up in confusion and alarm, their drinks spilling, their laughter freezing in their throats.
Luffy stepped forward, his boots echoing against the cold, damp floor. Each footfall crackled faintly, the faint buzz of electricity running beneath his skin.
He hadn't taken more than five steps before a sharp voice broke through the silence.
"Who's there!?"
His eyes lazily drifted toward the sound.
Two burly men stood at the far end of the hall, their silhouettes framed by the torchlight. They were tall, ugly, and brutish, just like the usual Beast Pirate. Their faces were half-hidden beneath spiked aviator caps, their shoulders lined with fur and armor, and their weapons glinted wetly under the dim light.
One of them snarled, stepping forward. "An intruder! Sound the alarm—!"
The other raised his weapon, his voice trembling slightly. "Y-You bastard, who do you think you are sneaking into Kaido-sama's fortress!?"
Luffy tilted his head slightly, amusement glimmering in his eyes. His lips curved into a grin that was equal parts mischief and danger.
"Kaido's fortress?" He repeated with a small chuckle. "He really needs better doormen."
A faint hum filled the air.
The two guards froze as the torches flickered violently, their flames bending toward Luffy as though drawn by his presence. His hands crackled faintly, threads of lightning dancing lazily between his fingers.
"H-Hey, what is that…?"
Before either of them could finish their thought, two blinding bolts of lightning tore through the air, slamming into their chests.
ZRAKKKK—!!!
BOOM!
The hall flashed white for an instant. The sound was so sharp that it rattled the wooden beams overhead. When the light faded, smoke curled lazily from the charred remains of the two guards. Their weapons clattered to the floor, the metallic sound echoing eerily through the corridor.
Luffy lowered his hand, the faint glow of lightning still flickering between his fingertips. His voice was calm, almost playful.
"You should've stayed quiet."
He stepped over their smoking corpses without sparing them a second glance. The faint scent of ozone and burnt flesh followed him as he walked deeper into the fortress.
With each step, his Observation Haki pulsed faintly, like sonar waves spreading through the walls. He could feel movements everywhere.
Dozens of life signatures, all gathering closer, were alarmed by the sound of thunder within their walls.
The hall ahead began to fill with the echoing sound of boots, and shadows moved in the flickering light.
"Who the hell is it!?"
"An intruder... kill him before the Tobi Roppo finds out!"
Luffy sighed softly and rolled his shoulders. The lightning began to dance once again around his body, swirling like living serpents made of light.
"You guys sure like shouting," He muttered under his breath.
The next instant, his figure vanished. A flash of pure lightning sliced through the dim corridor.
BOOM!
The first wave of pirates screamed as lightning struck, their bodies thrown backward like rag dolls. The air itself crackled violently, bursting with light as his form reappeared amidst the chaos, eyes glowing gold, grin feral.
"Guess I'll clean up a bit before meeting Kaido's princess."
He raised his hand, and arcs of blue and gold lightning shot across the room, crawling up the walls and leaping from one pirate to another.
When silence finally fell again, the corridor was filled with smoke.
The scent of ozone and scorched metal lingered in the air. Bodies twitched faintly on the ground, some still alive, most not.
Luffy exhaled softly and continued walking, the faint hum of power trailing behind him.
'Tch… weaklings. Not even worth the effort.'
