Susanoo, the third power attainable only by those who have awakened a pair of Mangekyō Sharingan, was known as the Power of the Gods.
Thus, every Mangekyō user possessed a Susanoo unique to themselves. Ye Zi, however, did not.
His bloodline was fragmented, bound by an invisible shackle. Unless he could break through that restraint, he would never be able to unlock the ability of his other eye.
If he could break free of it, he too would surely possess a Susanoo of his own.
While the immense size of Susanoo amplified strength, it also reduced agility to some extent.
With all three: Shisui, Itachi, and Obito having activated their Susanoo, Ye Zi could have easily chosen to evade them.
But he had no intention of retreating now.
After all, the Mangekyō Sharingan posed a real threat to his side, and to witness three Susanoo manifested at once was a sight both spectacular and exceedingly rare.
Legend said Susanoo symbolized destruction itself, and that anyone who laid eyes upon it would be doomed to die. Yet Ye Zi stood before three of them simultaneously.
Another who witnessed this incredible scene was Orochimaru.
Before Ye Zi's massacre began, Orochimaru had summoned a coffin and ordered the Edo Tensei body inside to retreat from the battlefront. Then he summoned other Edo Tensei to reinforce his last clone army, leaving only a single Edo Tensei behind to observe.
Orochimaru's fascination with the Sharingan, or more precisely, with the Rinnegan was well known.
The Sharingan's ultimate evolution was the Rinnegan, yet in this world, only one pair of Rinnegan existed.
Under the gaze of Shisui, Itachi, and Obito, trees began to twist and grow wildly from beneath Ye Zi's feet, wrapping around him and spiraling outward. In moments, they shaped themselves into a massive wooden giant.
Wood Release: Susanoo.
The giant's face was vague, its form towering over the three Susanoo before it. Then, the wooden surface shifted again, forming sharp-edged armor plates, making the figure more solid, and more imposing.
Seeing this wooden Susanoo take shape, Shisui, Itachi, and Obito were struck dumb with shock. For a moment, none of them even moved to attack.
Ye Zi's wooden Susanoo stood a full head taller than Shisui's or Obito's. If he wished, he could have grown it even larger, but there was no point.
"Now, the size advantage is gone. Next… I'll just have to break through their defenses," Ye Zi thought calmly.
The wooden Susanoo raised its right hand, fingers splayed. A speck of darkness appeared in its palm, swelling rapidly into a black sphere.
With a thought, Ye Zi manipulated the orb created from the power of the Rinnegan and reshaped it into a long black blade, which the wooden Susanoo gripped tightly.
These black rods were the product of Yin–Yang Release, something only a Rinnegan wielder could create.
For Ye Zi, forming a black sword to match his wooden Susanoo was already his limit of control.
The weapon's blade was slender, its guard simple. very much like Eihō, the sword Ye Zi had once given to Shin.
It was optimized for piercing, concentrating power into a single point that might just penetrate a Susanoo's defense.
Yet Ye Zi wasn't satisfied. After shaping the sword, he let black lightning flow across its surface, crackling and writhing.
In that instant the four colossal figures, each distinct, formed a scene like no other:
Ye Zi's Wood Release Susanoo wielded a black blade wrapped in black lightning.
Shisui's Susanoo held a green spiral spear.
Itachi's bore the Yata Mirror and the Totsuka Blade.
Obito's, awkwardly, was unarmed, its hands empty.
Though Shisui and the others had summoned their Susanoo first, it was Ye Zi who attacked first.
His target remained the same, the seemingly weakest, Itachi.
The wooden Susanoo strode forward. Each step landed with a thunderous boom like spring thunder bursting across the sky. The very ground trembled beneath its feet.
Within moments, it loomed before the red Susanoo. Its huge arm swung forward, the black lightning-clad blade cutting the air with a deafening roar as it thrust toward the crimson giant, toward Itachi within.
"Watch out!"
Shisui, reacting swiftly, swung his spiral spear, knocking aside Ye Zi's black blade just in time.
When the sword struck the ground beside Itachi, a shockwave rippled outward. The earth quaked violently, splitting apart in enormous cracks that spread like a spiderweb in all directions.
By enlarging his form, Ye Zi had sacrificed his speed, his attacks were now easier to parry.
But in exchange for that lost agility, he had gained power capable of breaking a Susanoo's defenses.
As Shisui deflected the attack, Itachi lunged with the Totsuka Blade, stabbing it into Ye Zi's wooden Susanoo. But as expected, the sword's sealing ability did not activate.
"So it only works if it strikes the real body…"
Realizing this, Itachi swiftly withdrew and retreated several steps, a wise move, as it left Ye Zi's intended counterattack swinging into empty air.
Then, the wooden Susanoo's left hand reached toward Shisui. Without warning, thick wooden tendrils burst from its palm, wrapping tightly around the green Susanoo and binding it in place.
With Shisui's Susanoo restrained, Ye Zi raised his sword to strike, but Obito's attack came just in time.
Two massive black shuriken whirled toward him.
Sensing the danger, Ye Zi abandoned his strike on Shisui and raised his left arm to shield himself. The enormous black shuriken slammed into the arm...
Whoosh…
Space itself distorted. The wooden Susanoo's left arm was sucked into a vortex and vanished into another dimension.
Ye Zi's eyes narrowed, that was Obito's ocular power, Kamui. If it had struck his head, it might have affected him directly.
Losing his left arm didn't faze him. With a mere thought, he regenerated a new wooden limb on the spot.
As long as he had enough chakra, no matter how many times his wooden Susanoo was destroyed, he could rebuild it instantly.
Seeing that his Kamui shuriken had only managed this much, Obito clenched his teeth. If Ye Zi hadn't reacted so quickly, if the blow had connected cleanly. victory might already have been his.
While Ye Zi was deflecting Obito's assault, Shisui broke free of the wooden bindings.
In Susanoo form, his strength was monstrous, a few wooden roots couldn't possibly hold him.
Freed, Shisui's Susanoo thrust its spiral spear straight at Ye Zi's head.
Obito followed suit, their attacks perfectly aligned.
Both of them using the clarity of their Mangekyō vision could see Ye Zi's true position and so both aimed directly for the wooden Susanoo's head.
