"In my race, every young serpent is required to awaken at least two elements during their coming-of-age ceremony. My father wielded four elements, while my mother wielded three. Both of my sisters also had three, and my brother had two.
Naturally, my family was considered one of the strongest, for the more elemental affinities you have, the stronger you become. Unfortunately, when it was time for my awakening, I couldn't awaken even a single element.
You can already guess what followed. I became the target of mockery and insults. Aside from that, I also became the weakest link in the family since, as a mortal, I could easily be used to get under my family's skin.
So I made a choice. I left home to look for an alternative way to awaken, despite my family making me feel at home and loved. When I left, and they discovered I was gone, my big sister came after me.
