A light scoff came from beside me, and the man asked me quietly, "What's over? You don't mean you're out of money to pay for the ride, do you?"
"Out of money? I've been driving for two days and nights straight. You aren't pulling a fast one on me, are you?" The driver's ears were sharp and he actually heard us.
The man touched the flower hairpin in my hair, brazen and arrogant, said, "I'm riding for free, what can you do about it?"
"..." The driver's arrogance left him speechless.
I took out my phone to scan the QR code in the car and transferred the money over. "My friend just likes to joke around, don't mind him, Sir."
"You gave me quite a fright, turns out it was a joke. Scaring people can really scare them to death." The driver finally relaxed after receiving the transfer.
I got out of the car and opened the door for the man, "You can get out now."
"Friend?" The man's deep gaze pierced me, his long fingers gripping the cool seat cushion.
