Chapter 8 - Chapter 5 Yellow Needle

"Ah!?"

Little Crow's small hands were a bit clumsy, and a hint of confusion and urgency flashed through her eyes!

The workload of nineteen, unless some rough method was used, was very hard to accomplish.

You wouldn't be a brute, would you? You wouldn't have broken any sea beast jars, would you?

She immediately checked all the sea beast jars, afraid that the precious medicinal materials might have had issues.

Just as Chen Qi mentioned, nineteen jars of medicinal materials had been extracted beautifully.

Furthermore, her sea beasts always looked lethargic, but today they were unexpectedly full of vitality!

This indicated that errors in manipulation were minimal.

A job well done... Little Crow sighed with relief, her face slightly flushed, feeling a bit happy.

But then she reconsidered, thinking there was no reason to spank him, and sighed again:

"Sigh..."

Chen Qi suddenly flinched as if hit by a whip.

Why are you sighing? I spent half an hour working hard to complete this difficult task!

Chen Qi could feel, although he had completed his work beautifully, that deep down she really wanted to spank him!

Little Crow adjusted her mask.

She didn't truly want to spank him, nor was she a sadist.

As a devoted deep-sea fanatic, she only wanted to find a reason to have Chen Qi take off his shirt again to see the sea beast pattern on his back.

Then symbolically spank him twice on the buttocks.

But this was nineteen! Quite a significant workload!

Maybe I should spank him nineteen times too, no no no, that's a crazy thought, a hellish idea... Little Crow rejected the notion.

The other person must have put in a lot of thought, meticulously reading every word of the "Sea Beast Medicinal Materials Collection Guide," racking his brains, to accomplish this.

Even scared by the sea beast's terrifying cries midway, he nonetheless overcame his inner fear and completed the work beautifully!

And this was done while hungry!

Such diligence, she couldn't possibly follow Black-eyed Captain's lead and find fault with him.

Exhausted after a day, Little Crow collapsed into the chair and smiled:

"Nineteen? How did you do it?"

It is hard to achieve with just effort alone.

Chen Qi recalled the memory of his predecessor and rubbed his hands:

"I was born in Daluo Town on the Moonstone Islands, helped fishermen deal with some sea beasts, and I took university exams before, my comprehension is decent."

In this post-apocalyptic world, after hundreds of years of peace, countries established schools to train transcendents.

And his starting nation was Shell Kingdom, a country that valued money, was industrially developed, and whose education sector was on the rise.

In the Shell Country, there were many excellent schools for cultivating transcendents.

Unlike the Earth schools, these had stricter admission standards, with most students being descendants of nobles or strong transcendents.

Commoners wanting to gain admittance needed exceptionally high inspiration talent and pass various challenging professional exams to qualify, with a very low acceptance rate.

"Oh? You took university exams too?"

Little Crow didn't expect this little slave had once been an exam taker like her.

Even among commoners, families willing to take exams usually had some assets; becoming a slave on a pirate ship was a rare occurrence.

Chen Qi answered:

"Yes, I have some inspiration talent; tried Royal University twice but failed both times."

"I applied to the medical school jointly operated with the Golden Flower Bird Kingdom."

"Oh, did you get admitted?"

Chen Qi asked, remembering the player-created game info, which mentioned Little Crow's good medical skills but didn't mention her academic qualifications.

The question created a slightly awkward atmosphere.

"..."

A vision of a whip flashed through Chen Qi's mind; he shouldn't have asked that question.

If I had gotten admitted, how would I end up on a pirate ship, being a crazy female pirate, chatting with a captured slave all day... Little Crow was somewhat speechless and rested her face:

"What do you think? You know, there were very few spots at those jointly-operated medical schools, we had to eat what nobles and rich merchants left over...

Of course, my own skills weren't up to par; I was quite content just after becoming a First Rank Transcendent 'Doctor Apprentice' and missed this valuable opportunity.

After obtaining the doctor apprentice certificate for various reasons, I ventured out."

As she spoke, Little Crow inexplicably felt a bit sad.

"Doctor apprentice certificate!?"

And according to the kingdom's laws, one must have a primary doctor's certificate to become a legitimate 'doctor.'

An apprentice certificate didn't allow practice.

Chen Qi was mildly surprised; in his impression, Little Crow's medical skills were great, yet she ventured out after just getting the apprentice certificate.

This was practicing without a license! Definitely a black doctor!

Though on a tumultuous pirate ship, it was normal.

Underestimated me... Little Crow clenched her fist, boasting:

"Don't look down on me for having just an apprentice certificate; my status didn't allow me to take the exam.

In deep sea disease research, I might be better than the legendary healer, Flower Witch!"

"Oh, I see."

Grr~

Suddenly, Chen Qi's stomach rumbled softly.

He was hungry.

According to ship rules, new crew members couldn't eat in the dining hall and could only enjoy hot meals after completing a run with the pirate ship.

The tired Little Crow glanced at the bread on the shelf and immediately sat up.
