Was it a difficult question?
Of course it wasn't.
The question itself was simple, almost laughably so. Yet the answer meant choosing whom to hurt, Hades or Aestus, and for Evangeline, one choice came far easier than the other. One required only a small cruelty; the other would demand her whole heart to betray itself.
When her gaze instinctively landed on Hades, he lifted his lips into a knowing smile, as though he had already heard her answer. Aestus caught the exchange and huffed sharply in return.
"Fine," he snapped, folding his arms. "It was unfair to ask in the first place. Who would choose a stranger over someone they already care for?"
