Chapter 339 - Leaving

Adeline crossed her arms, fully done with this conversation and everyone in it.

"Why am I being treated like I'm made of glass?" she snapped. "I've done way worse things as a child. Accidentally. Mostly."

Her father's eye twitched. Just slightly.

"When you were a child," he said slowly, "you were excused because you were a child."

"That's unfair."

"No. That is parenting. Something I should have done earlier, perhaps."

He was talking like she had become a hooligan. Everything she did was for the greater good. Cough. 

She leaned forward. "So suddenly I'm an adult when it's convenient for you?"

"You are an adult now," he shot back. "Which means you don't get to be reckless, stupid, and disappear whenever you want. You have responsibilities."

"What responsibilities?!" She was living that young, rich lady life, she had no responsibilities except saving the world.
