(Third Person POV)
[A Few Weeks Later]
"Daeron is coming to visit." Baelon said as he walked towards the open window of Helaena's chamber, "Just for a few days."
The room was dark, only the light of the moon shining through the window made most of it visible. Helaena sat on a couch, her hands on her lap as she had a serious look on her face. She was looking down at the floor as Baelon stood with his back to her.
There was an awkward moment of silence, one that Baelon immediately felt and was uncomfortable by. He did not think that Helaena would have her quarters dark, without her candles lit. Something told him that she knew what he was thinking of doing.
"You are going, are you not?" Helaena spoke up, her voice was barely heard, "After I asked you not to go."
Baelon did not say anything, he merely stared outside the window, feeling the breeze come in and hit him in the face.
"I cannot stop you." Helaena said, "I was fortunate all those times, that you listened to me...but you will not listen this time, will you?"
"This is something I have to do." Baelon said seriously, "I hope you understand."
"I do...." She said seriously, "But I do not approve."
"Helaena...." Baelon closed his eyes, "Do not make this more difficult than it is."
"Go." She said, her face was hardened as she stared at the floor
Baelon turned to look at her, "Love....."
"Return with the boy..." Helaena said, a cold tone in her voice, "Or do not return at all."
Baelon's face hardened and he clenched his fist, ".....As you wish."
He then let out a sigh and walked over to her, leaning down and kissing her cheek. Helaena did not react nor did she look in response to this. She merely stared at the floor, unmoving and unbothered.
"I love you." Baelon told her as she straightened up, "I am sorry."
"Do not say you are sorry." Helaena said softly, "Do not make this harder for yourself. Go and do what you are meant to do...."
Baelon turned around and walked away, leaving the room, closing the door behind him.
The moment the door closed, Helaena began to tremble slightly, tears beginning to form in her eyes.
She then hugged herself as she hunched over, sobbing softly, "Y-You idiot...." She said softly, "Why must you do this?"
"Baelon...."
*************
Baelon made his way towards Balerion atop the Dragonmont, looking up into the night sky.
"Hm...." He said with a serious look in his face, "A quiet night....."
As he said this, he heard the distant roar of a dragon. He recognized the roar to belong to Tessarion, meaning that Daeron was approaching the castle.
"Just in time." Baelon said seriously as he stopped and looked over at where Baelon laid, "This is something I must do.....I have to do it...."
Baelon had prepared for weeks, he had planned to leave to Essos and find where Gael and her brother were holed up. He had received a tip from his sources in Mereen, saying that they were spotted. He wanted to go and finish things once and for all, not caring if it was too much of a risk.
He had Balerion's saddle secretly readied with plenty of supplies, food, and water. He was going to ensure that nobody got in his way. He had made up his mind, he wanted to end things, he wanted to free himself from the shackles that were his trauma.
He clenched his fists, "Forgive me, Helaena....." He said aloud, "I cannot keep going on like this...I have to do something....and I will...."
He then proceeded to walk over to where Balerion laid, the Black Dread was simply slumbering without an issue. The moment that Baelon got close, he opened his eyes and slowly raised his head, rumbling deeply.
"We have a job to do." Baelon said in High-Valyrian, "Are you ready?"
Balerion let out a snort, blowing wind on the ground as Baelon made his way to the saddle's ladder, climbing it slowly.
As he made his way up to the well-equipped saddle, he heard Tessarion's call get closer and closer. He did not intend to speak to Daeron when he got there, he just wanted to make sure that his brother was there with his wives and children, protecting them. He trusted his youngest brother as much as he trusted his other brothers.
Daeron was the only one that could answer his call.
Baelon sat on the saddle, looking up at the sky to see Tessarion's winged figure through some light clouds.
"He is here..." Baelon said with a sigh, "I am quite nervous.....my son and daughter were asleep....I kissed them goodbye...."
He looked down at Balerion who had his head raised slightly, letting out a rumble as he slowly faced his head towards Baelon.
The Black Dread's eyes were staring right at Baelon, silently asking him if everything was okay.
"There is doubt in my heart, Old Boy." Baelon said, "But adversity is a privilege. I must advance....for the sake of my Family, I will do what I must. You know that, do you not?"
Balerion faced forwards and let out a rumble, as if responding to Baelon, telling him that he knew what he meant.
Baelon then heard a strange sound in the distance, a mix of a snap and a thud. He looked over to where the sound came from and he saw nothing; there was nothing but flat rock for the next dozen meters around Balerion. If someone were there, they would be easily spotted or smelled by the Black Dread.
"Hm....." Baelon said seriously, "Nobody....must have been my imagination....."
He then grabbed the reigns of the Black Dread and let out a sigh, looking up at the sky and then at the castle. There were nothing but doubts in his mind, telling him not to go but Baelon was stubborn and adamant about doing this.
He had to.
It was what he needed to do.
Baelon then gripped the reigns tightly,
"Sovez"
****************
[Mereen, Essos]
In the largest city of Slaver's Bay, many men and women went about their day, unknowing of what was about to happen in the next few minutes.
The high nobles of the City were going about their business as usual, commanding their slaves to do tasks for them like they do at all times. They were showing their cruelty, their foul nature to those lower than them. It was the natural order in Slaver's Bay; humans sold to the highest bidder and kept as pets and slaves, being forced to do the bidding of their master while being treated worse than animals.
It was an inhumane and terrible thing that Mereen had, something that even the Westerosi did not approve of. Although, it is unknown if there were Lords in Westeros who were worse than the Slavers of Mereen.
Nobody in Mereen were aware of one thing, however....
And that was that Dragonseeds were hiding among them.
For a long time, Gael and her brother, Maegor, had been holed up in Mereen, using their blood as a way to move their way up to the top of some levels in Mereen. They managed to overthrow some slavers in Mereen, taking their properties and their slaves.
And for months, they lived their lives here, waiting to make their next move against the Targaryens.
However....
The Black Dread was descending upon them.
The people of Mereen looked up when a massive winged shadow blocked the sun, hearing the unnerving growl of Balerion as he flew towards the city.
Atop Balerion, Prince Baelon Targaryen was mounted, glaring down at the city.
On that day, Flames burned and men died.
All due to the wrath of The Bold.
