Chapter 8 - Just Freeze

Yanagisawa tried to reason with Hyouga as Tsuruga to try and take out God of Death. His answers weren't making him happy.

"You know Sanctuary believes in him, Tsuruga. Nothing will change Sanctuary, and I can't take Aguri and hide her as long as she won't go. As long as he's still there, she won't go. She's . . ." He opened another box of shells and gripped them. "She's obsessed with him."

"She loves him. She's an idiot, she loves idiots," Yanagisawa said. "She's not worth the attention except for her family's name. Not that it matters anymore."

"What are you talking about?" Hyouga looked absolutely confused.

"We need to get rid of God of Death," Yanagisawa said, changing the subject. "Let's take him out."

"Brother." Hyouga's voice was thick. "I helped save Aguri, because I was trying to make sure God of Death didn't go after you. He wasn't happy about what you said to Aguri. He was going to come back after a bad day, and kill you. You were nothing more than a pit stop to make him feel better on a bad day. You want to take that on?"

"It's all rumors. He's just like everyone else," Yanagisawa told him. "Let's take him out by tricking Sanctuary."

"Tricking Sanctuary?"

"His plans. Let's get a hold of his plans. You know he doesn't care about saving everybody."

"I? I don't think that's really true. I'm sure he wants to destroy Sanctuary, but like us, he has to figure out how to do that without losing the protection they provide for others. He started to meet the other Sanctuarians. He understands not all of them are bad. He even understands the craziness itself."

"Then, let's take his plan, and make it actually work." He wanted those plans. How far had God of Death gotten in the pursuit of finding everyone a new planet? On surviving? Did he plan on them actually surviving, or just dying off? Now for the tricky part. "Aguri is worried too. Maybe the craziness is getting to him."

"Aguri is worried?"

There, that got him. "Yeah. She's right in the car, and she wants to see what he is up to as well. Let's sneak it and check his plans out."

Hyouga headed toward the door. "If Aguri of all people are worried, then I better come." He headed toward the car, almost faster than him.

Hyouga got in the back. "Aguri, are you okay?"

Aguri just nodded toward him.

"Good. We'll go see it for ourselves. Don't worry. I'll make sure everything is okay."

"That's what he always did for you," Yanagisawa said toward Chou Chou as they all took off toward Sanctuary again. "Give me a few minutes, and I'll change into God of Death. I took one of his pills, he never watches over them."

"That will give us some advantage," Hyouga agreed easily.

Yanagisawa went to the bathroom. He took a de-transforming pill again, and then back to the shape of God of Death. Easy. This was working so well.

They walked straight into God of Death's area, in his classroom. It was the only place he seemed to leave anything. Most likely he wouldn't even think about anyone taking his plans. After all, he was helping Sanctuary. Well, to them.

Yanagisawa busted it out over God of Death's desk.

" . . . wow." Hyouga gestured toward certain numbers and directions. "That's . . . that's genius. Look at that!" He looked toward the side. "How to get it. Length of time. It is realistic, he has seven years for it to be completed." He followed the path with his fingers. "It creates something that goes beyond mankind's traveling." He stopped to see notes beneath. "Beginning. Out of mankind's eye, development can begin." Hyouga took a step back and smiled. "It's real. It's all real. He's actually doing it. I don't see any sign of craziness. If he shows this to the leaders-"

"He wants to save some, but he doesn't want to save all. Look at what happened to his student today," Yanagisawa rubbed it in. "He watched his own student become unsavable."

"It's probably why he hasn't shown this plan off yet," Hyouga said. "With this, everyone survives. He won't want the poison of the crazy ones mixing in. The ones thinking he is a god. The ones responsible for eggs. Those all deserve to die."

"Look at this note," Yanagisawa pointed out. "He's wondering about how to make sure everyone stays asleep for the journey. It'll be a long journey. No one's told him about the chambers yet."

"He probably hasn't asked," Hyouga pointed out.

"Your right. He'll eventually show the leaders this, and then he'll go back everyday to enjoy his Lady Aguri. Every night." Yanagisawa looked toward Chou Chou. "Raising your future octopi. Sharing your bed. Does that excite you, Aguri?"

"Don't start up again," Hyouga commanded him. "You know it's that talk that drives you into trouble."

"Yeah, yeah." Yanagisawa gestured toward Hyouga. "A moment, Brother."

"He doesn't know about the chambers," Yanagisawa said toward Hyouga. "Then let's not kill him, let's just get rid of him. We have his plans. We have him." He raised up another pill. "You can replace him, Brother. You can have Aguri, and raise the child that you deserve."

"God of Death doesn't walk around in his human form. He prefers not to use it at all," Hyouga told him. "Human shells won't get you very far. Aguri can tell the difference."

"It'll trick them long enough to finally get your night with Aguri," he teased. "With his eggs and his plans, it doesn't really matter anymore. Will it?" Yanagisawa showed him the plan again. "You've got his calculations. His timeline. Just show up tomorrow. Take a pill and bring the plans. I'll take care of him in the chambers."

Hyouga just looked at him oddly. "I don't wish death to him. The chambers wouldn't kill him either. Even if I was that cold-blooded, Aguri wouldn't be fooled. Not even one night. Those two have a connection I can't mimic. He's a disgusting killer that can't control his mouth, and Aguri strangely likes it."

"Because Korosensei is a lot nicer than any of you."

Well, that ended that. Yanagisawa pulled his gun before Hyouga could even question the different sound of her voice. Hyouga fell to the ground while of course the kid screamed. Ugh.

He grabbed the kid, and the map, and headed out. "Don't say anything," he commanded to her.

"God of Death? In human form?!"

Yanagisawa gave Lola a bright smile as the God of Death. She caught him in the middle of his way out. "Messenger of God, how are you?" He showed off the map. "Call for the leaders. I have an emergency meeting for them. We're going to discuss some issues."

"Prove it!" The messenger pointed at him. "My Lord Reaper never uses his human form, except perhaps experimental reasons with Lady Aguri, but that would not be involved here. Prove you are him!"

Why oh why did that stupid idiot never use his human form? No one really knew what he had looked like, and who preferred using tentacles all the time?

He fought against the Voice of God, each trying to win against the other. She had little fighting experience, but her tentacles still had a lot of power. He had no power in a shell, but he still had an old fashioned gun, gumption, and the element of surprise. Also, she clearly did not want to kill him.

He could kill her. It was after hours too, and most of the others would be far on the other side from the leaders area. Still, her voice could carry far, and things were getting more dangerous the more she yelled.

So? He held a gun on the kid, who still looked like Aguri. "If you are responsible for killing your God's Lady, who will pay the price?" He uncocked it, to make her see he was serious.

"Do not hurt Lady Aguri!"

"Then listen up. Contact your precious God of Death, and tell him his Lady Aguri is in the chamber room, room 237."

He took off with Chou Chou quickly, still holding a gun to her head. He headed along with her toward the chamber room. He'd find out whether or not he knew about it now.

Chou Chou looked above her. The door was high, and the situation was scary. The deceiver promised her that she would be fine if she played the part, but it didn't matter either way. There was no choice, and her mouth was covered. The only dead give away she had to let her teacher know she wasn't Lady Aguri.

What were these chambers? She could smell weird gases starting to flow in the room. They were immune to most poisons, so she wasn't worried. Except? Poisons usually affected them in some other weird way. These poisons smelled like farts and gross stuff. The smellier, the worse it would probably be.

She saw her teachers tentacles burst in, but not him. He was being cautious. Above her was some kind of smoke going off now. It was a weird blue color.

"Aguri." His tentacles had been holding a mirror. What a clever teacher he'd been. His excitement made him stick in his head. "Lola was right. Who did this to you?"

Chou Chou watched as he was pushed in. As he landed on the floor a small ways away, he was starting to freeze. She struggled to call to him. She called his name as well as he could.

"Not Aguri." He was trembling as he said it with a strange smile. "Good. I've had plenty of practice hearing my former students through bondage. They were great students," he reminisced. "I can't move. All of my tentacles are f-freezing."

She mumbled more, hoping he could catch more. She could barely even catch it, but she was trying.

"Chou Chou?" Yeah, he seemed to pick it up. "Where's Aguri?"

"Up here!" The shell of God of Death held Lady Aguri now, right by the door. "This room is sort of top secret. Only the heads knew. Not a big surprise the leaders didn't trust you enough to tell you, O holy one."

"I know that voice." Korosensei had gone from yellow to a dangerous looking black. "Yanagisawa."

"Right," the faker confirmed. "Did you really think you could get away with everything? Where is that egg of yours?"

Oh. Korosensei's egg. Chou Chou knew he had it on him, but his tentacles wouldn't be able to toss it.

"I still need an heir. Yours or some other idiot she slept with thinking I was dead, doesn't matter. Everyone believes it's the next god. If you don't throw it up, it'll freeze with you," the faker declared. "I don't know how the process will do with a stupid egg. Maybe it won't even freeze, maybe it'll starve down there next to you."

Korosensei was trying to wriggle his front, but his tentacles were frozen. "Damn you, Yanagisawa! Is that one even Aguri?"

"I know," the faker declared. "It's hard to tell when she's not on the floor on her knees, isn't it?" He grabbed Aguri roughly by the hair. "Now, listen. You are going to play the part of the dutiful fiance again. We are going to make up some excuse as to why I am always in my human form. Do that, and I'll spare your stupid egg. If it even means anything to you. So small, it'll probably never hatch."

Chou Chou scooted down to the ground. She moved along it. If the egg wasn't at the base tentacle, maybe she could help it? She didn't know how. She was bound and gagged, but he could toss it off into her hands, or she could push him and roll it off to the ground or something?

"The kids got gumption," the faker said as she wormed her way closer. "She can't do much, still she tries. Even embarrassing herself acting like a worm. Fascinating."

Chou Chou got closer. Korosensei was really struggling to even move a little now.

"Upper-r-r-right side," he said.

Chou Chou tried to roll him, to make it roll off. She wormed her way to it and held it in her grip.

"Egg," Korosensei said to her.

Yeah, obviously it was an egg. Why did he waste time saying egg? The faker moved away from the door with Aguri above. A few minutes later, he showed up by the door he had used to put her down there. Room 137.

"There you go." The faker pushed Lady Aguri in. "Grab your stupid egg. Be glad I even let you get it. You better be very gracious to me from now on, or I'll shatter your precious Korosensei's frozen body."

"Oh, I d-don't mean that much to her," Korosensei said.

"Not much?" The faker didn't seem to like that. "When she found out about the side effect of blowing up the Earth, she begged me to find a way to save you." He went over and kicked her on her side, making her fall. "Same response."

Chou Chou couldn't believe it. Lady Aguri could have used her tentacles to stop that, she was lucky enough to be a patterned Sanctuarian. Why didn't she?

Lady Aguri pulled up again without one word of spite against the faker, and approached Chou Chou. She didn't take the egg, her attention lingered on Korosensei.

Hers did too. It was like, some tiny specks were coming up from him?

"You and the egg, over here, now!" the faker commanded. "He'll stay frozen as long as the door is sealed. Would you rather have him frozen and alive, or dead and shattered into a million pieces?"

"Oh no." Lady Aguri finally spoke up. "Please. Don't do this. I'll do anything, just stop hurting him!"

"And the last time you yelled that at me, did you get your wish?!" The Faker came right over toward her, fully intent on kicking her down again.

Chou Chou watched as a familiar looking tentacle wrapped around Aguri and shoved her into the steam cloud above that Korosensei had hit. Uh oh.

"Aguri!" Teacher screamed.

The faker didn't look much better as another tentacle grabbed the egg from Chou Chou.

"Lady Aguri belongs with God of Death, so shall that prophecy always be!"

Yep, Chou Chou knew that voice. Messenger of God. If that was the heroine, they were screwed.

"Aguri." Korosensei couldn't move and Aguri's human shape had disappeared. Her tentacles were freezing. Korosensei's glitter specks stopped moving above him.

"Get back here!" The faker took off angrily after the Messenger of God. "Stupid, get back here with that egg!"

Chou Chou watched the Lady and Lord both start to freeze.

"I-I don't think this was much worse than what I was headed for," Lady Aguri said to her teacher.

"Don't say that!" Korosensei was really trying to do something. Change colors quickly? It probably didn't work with the stuff. "Th-this isn't over. That was Lola, I know it. So? Th-there's a chance. N-not the greatest."

"The egg that wasn't supposed to be. That was so tiny, it was surprising it ever made it through. An egg we named Egg." Aguri tried to smile, but Chou Chou could see tears welling up. "At least, it m-might s-s-survive." Aguri was freezing so much faster. She had been brought up into that steam and had gotten a few seconds longer than her teacher. "Korosenpai. I'm g-glad that we had a little more time with each other. I didn't make a great d-difference. But." She stopped talking.

Chou Chou watched as the door bust open.

"It's too late now, but I shall return!" The Messenger of God had wrapped her arms around Chou Chou and closed the door after them. It spun to seven years with a loud thud. "Uh? It's really too late now, but I shall return in seven years!" She said it a little less heroically but still loud.

Chou Chou watched as Lola left quickly. She left her behind? It's not like she meant to be a villainess. At least she got her out of the room. Yanagisawa grabbed her again as he looked at the door, seeing the date on it too. "Sealed seven years. Well, we will see about that."

Failed. Just a gigantic F. Aguri wanted to learn to become independent and take on Sanctuary. She even had several lessons. When it came to Yanagisawa. She just froze. She just froze and begged for him not to do it. She even had tentacles that could have at least reached out and stopped him! He was just in a shell.

That shell didn't have nice eyes though, they had Yanagisawa's eyes. That made all the difference. Maybe this was a fitting end?

"I failed."

Aguri looked toward Korosensei. "You didn't do anything wrong."

"Yeah, I did. I was your Korosenpai, I t-taught you what you could do to protect yourself, but I d-didn't account for one s-s-stupid thing that I kn-know I w-would have if my students were involved. I didn't w-want to touch it." There was no humor at all in his big round eyes. "Trauma. I . . . w-we n-n-never talked about it."

"W-we didn't talk about a l-lot. Like E-E-Egg," she said back. "F-f-fitting for me. Not for y-you," he said softly.

"S-Sanctuary w-wouldn't make a death chamber. F-from the sound of L-Lola, i-it's a freezing chamber designed f-for S-sanctuarians. So? S-seven years frozen, a-and then we'll be r-rescued or killed."

Whoever reached them first. "Y-yanagisawa v-verses Lola. Th-there's not m-much competition."

"P-probably. S-still. Th-there's always a chance."

A very, very thin chance. Based on the Messenger of God. Based on her either getting believed, or her running away and not getting found. We are probably going to die. Freeze and die, or he'll find a way in to shatter us. I should. She should. He was right there, freezing along with her. "K-koro. S-senpai. I?" Oh. He's lost consciousness. She wasn't far behind. Still, it's better. It's better this way! I didn't want to go back to him, back to all of that all over again. He'd threaten Egg, probably kill Egg. He'd keep threatening to smash God of Death.

She couldn't. She'd rather freeze to death with Korosenpai. As for Egg? Only she could ever keep it still, it went crazy with anyone else. God of Death had kept it under control with his tentacles, but? Egg would probably be lost before either one of them.

Freeze. It wouldn't take long.

It wouldn't take long. Stop the thoughts. The future that would never come. The inevitable outcomes. Just, freeze.

Job Interview

"I am very good at doing a very good job!"

"The voice is kind of screwy, but you won't be talking," her potential employer said to her. "Bold of you to come to the interview naked like that."

"I wanted to show off my best assets." Her assets were getting her the job. Lola had to make sure she could get a place away from Sanctuary, to watch over the egg and the frozen Lord and Lady. The fake god could do what he wanted at Sanctuary. Act with whatever he wanted, give shells for a fake Lady Aguri, make deals with some of the leaders, she cared not.

One day, her frozen Lord and Lady would wake up, and take back Sanctuary! Somehow? Well, of course God of Death rose from the dead before, he would do it again with his lady love!

She just needed to keep a safe place for the egg and her. Babysitters would not be befitting of the goddess she held in her safety, but she would have to make money on her own now.

Who could help watch over the little goddess egg for seven years?
