Chapter 29 – Gunlaug
In the coliseum of the Dark City Vesper laid flat on her back. Sweat poured from her, her eyes continually watered but she couldn't open them yet, and every inch of her body ached.
Her heart and shadow legacies had politely intertwined, not fully combined but they had some sort of agreement and, she felt, that they had changed the legacies fundamentally so that she had abilities that were a combination of shadow and heart.
With her new legacy from the Forbidden God she had no such luck. The Shadow God lineage was the problem, she could feel the empathy and sorrow coming from Heart God.
She truly did not know. All she knew is when she tried to use her new ability beyond its innate functions her body rebelled. This last time it felt like her eyes were being pulled from their sockets. Her breathing was finally calming and Lyra, Kaelen, and Asper carefully stepped near.
