The Frozen Forest went mad, and Khorijin was caught up in that madness.
Even at the fringes of the chaos, tiny hailstones peppered her wounded flanks, followed by larger hailstones the size of walnuts that struck her square between the shoulder blades.
Worst of all were the fruits that unleashed dizzying clouds of swirling snow.
In the hunt so far, the snow was a mild irritant. It allowed Erling and Khorijin to evade each other, yes, but it did very little real harm after Khorijin's first blunder through the snow into the Frozen Forest. For the most part, hunkering down for a moment until the snow passed or moving very slowly through the whiteout was sufficient to escape it safely.
