They were approximately fifty meters away from their camp. Another group's campsite sat nearby, and the two of them stood caught between the two zones, gazing up at the drifting black cloud. Once in a while, the artificial moonlight and starlight from the holographic sky managed to pierce through.
They stood face-to-face. Galenka felt a slight wave of awkwardness; she had never had a deep, private conversation with Rocco before.
"What is it that you want to talk about?" she asked, her expression stern.
"This must be mind-blowing to you, but I hope you open your mind to what I am about to tell you," he said, his eyes unwavering.
"In a situation like this, nothing surprises me anymore. Even if you told me there was an alien invasion. So, there is no need to weigh it down in your chest," she said.
He turned away from her to gaze back up at the sky, a deep melancholy washing over him as if he were carefully processing the words in his mind.
