Chapter 127 - Return to Ghost Valley

Ever since six months ago, when Zúzōng and Xiǎo Wǔ severely beat Xue Beng, he held a deep grudge. He had planned to take revenge, but much to his dismay, his opponents were highly regarded by the academy's council of elders. Even his unfathomable elder brother, Xuě Qīnghé, warned him not to act recklessly. Initially, it seemed revenge was out of the question, but when Xue Beng learned that Dúgū Bó had captured Zúzōng, he was ecstatic. He even went to the Heaven Dou auction house and bought two beautiful maidservants for his own amusement.

But who would have thought that Zúzōng would return alive, looking as energetic as ever?

"Oh?" Zúzōng narrowed his eyes. "It seems my survival has really surprised you, Prince Xue Beng!"

"How dare you!" shouted a young man with an eccentric hairstyle who stood beside Xue Beng. He looked to be in his early twenties, with pale skin and sunken eyes, clearly someone who frequented brothels and was drained from it. He was Xue Beng's latest lackey, eager to please by offering women to Xue Beng, knowing his fondness for them. "You dare be disrespectful to Prince Xue Beng? Kneel immediately and offer that young girl beside you as an apology, or you'll regret it!"

Hearing this, Xue Beng cursed inwardly, calling the youth an idiot. Couldn't he see the three elders and Xue Beng's elder brother behind Zúzōng? Xue Beng himself wouldn't dare provoke them! The once-arrogant noble youths had all fallen silent.

As expected, without even a word, Zúzōng grabbed the eccentric youth like a chicken and tossed him in front of Xiǎo Wǔ.

Xiǎo Wǔ understood instantly. She had been training with Zúzōng for a month and was often on the receiving end of tough sparring. She had been itching to hit someone.

"Ultimate move—Eight-Stage Drop!"

"Ahh!" The eccentric youth screamed as Xiǎo Wǔ threw him around mercilessly.

Zúzōng's cold gaze swept over the nobles standing behind Xue Beng.

"Gulp." They all took a step back, swallowing hard. The eccentric youth had been beaten so brutally that none of them wanted to experience the same.

Xue Beng's expression became complex.

Without paying him further attention, Zúzōng led Xiǎo Wǔ away. No matter how much Xue Beng tried to hide his true intentions, Zúzōng would find a way to deal with him—just like he did with Dài Mùbái and Yù Xiǎogāng.

Zúzōng and Xiǎo Wǔ arrived at her residence. Smiling, Zúzōng said, "Train hard over the next month. The medicinal effects of the Qíróng Tōngtiān Jú you absorbed are still active. I believe you'll reach level 43 soon."

"Hmm, Zúzōng, I'll definitely work hard," Xiǎo Wǔ replied, her eyes slightly red with reluctance. They had only just reunited, and now Zúzōng was leaving again. At least they were still in Heaven Dou Academy, or else she might have burst into tears.

Zúzōng pulled her into a hug, kissed her forehead, and whispered in her ear, "After the Continental Advanced Spirit Master Academy Tournament in a little over a year, I'll make you mine."

Xiǎo Wǔ's face flushed. After spending so much time with Zúzōng, she understood perfectly what he meant. She nodded softly.

"Hmm."

Zúzōng returned to his residence and securely locked the door.

"System, travel to the 'Legend Of Qin' world."

[Ding, the 'Legend Of Qin' world is a lower-level world and requires 1,000 hatred points.]

Space distorted around Zúzōng, and in the blink of an eye, he vanished.

When Zúzōng reappeared, he was back in the Ghost Valley of the Legend Of Qin world. Compared to three months ago, some changes had taken place, likely due to Xuán Jiǎn's family. With Wèi Xiānxiān taking care of things, the surroundings felt more lively, not as cold and desolate as before.

Seeing Zúzōng's arrival, Wèi Zhuāng and Gài Niè were momentarily stunned, as Zúzōng wasn't wearing his mask this time.

"What's this? Brother Wèi Zhuāng, Brother Gài Niè, it's only been a few months and you don't recognize me anymore?" Zúzōng said.

Wèi Zhuāng snorted coldly, sheathed his Sharktooth sword, and leaned against a wooden pillar without saying anything, continuing his aloof act.

Gài Niè, however, was much more composed. He cupped his hands and said, "I must admit, I didn't expect Brother Lán to be so young. It's truly surprising."

"Lán," as Gài Niè called him, was Zúzōng's alias. When Zúzōng first arrived in Ghost Valley, he didn't reveal his real name, as "Zúzōng" seemed too coarse for the intellectuals of this era. Looking at his blue-silver hair, Zúzōng had simply named himself Lán Zōng.

Zúzōng nodded and, with a flash of gold in his hand, retrieved two jars of soul wine from his system's storage space, tossing them to Wèi Zhuāng and Gài Niè. These were better than the century-old soul wine he had given before, purchased specifically at the Heaven Dou auction house.

Wèi Zhuāng and Gài Niè caught the jars, their faces showing surprise.

"This is—?" Gài Niè asked.

Zúzōng smiled faintly. "It's soul wine. You should remember it from last time."

They were no strangers to Zúzōng's wine, which not only tasted amazing but also boosted one's cultivation.

"This wine is worth its weight in gold. I feel unworthy to accept it," Gài Niè said, cupping his hands again. He wasn't one to easily accept favors.

Wèi Zhuāng, on the other hand, was unreserved. After a brief moment of surprise, he immediately uncorked his jar and started drinking.

Zúzōng's lips twitched. These jars weren't merely worth their weight in gold; he had bought them for 5,000 gold soul coins each. If he hadn't made a fortune selling firearms to Níng Fēngzhì, he wouldn't have splurged like this.

"Think of me as a friend, there's no need for formalities. Look at Brother Wèi Zhuāng, he never holds back," Zúzōng said.

"Friends, is it?" Gài Niè nodded. "In that case, I'll accept."

"Is there more?" Wèi Zhuāng asked coolly, holding his now-empty jar.

"Uh..." Zúzōng tossed him another jar awkwardly. "Brother Wèi Zhuāng, you're really not holding back."

After bidding farewell to Gài Niè and Wèi Zhuāng, Zúzōng hurried off, fearing Wèi Zhuāng would extort more wine from him. Watching him leave, Wèi Zhuāng smiled faintly.

After walking several miles, Zúzōng arrived at Xuán Jiǎn's family home. In the months that had passed, the environment had changed significantly. A new cottage had been built, and fields and gardens had been cultivated around it.

Xuán Jiǎn worked in the field, while Wèi Xiānxiān cared for their child. Though their lives were modest, it was peaceful. In this era, as long as one had enough to eat and wasn't in danger, that was enough for contentment.

Noticing Zúzōng's arrival, Wèi Xiānxiān quickly moved to protect her child, but when she recognised Zúzōng by his hair and clothes, she relaxed.

Wèi Xiānxiān bowed and said, "Xiānxiān greets our benefactor."

Zúzōng, not wanting to make her uncomfortable, used his Crane Control technique to lift her up and smiled gently. "There's no need for formalities, Miss Wèi."

At that moment, Xuán Jiǎn also approached. Upon recognizing Zúzōng, he knelt down on one knee. "Xuán Jiǎn greets our benefactor."

Seeing them both kneeling, Zúzōng felt a headache coming on. "Miss Wèi, Xuán Jiǎn, there's no need to treat me like this. We're all equals here. If you keep this up, I won't dare come back next time."

Xuán Jiǎn stood up, smiling awkwardly. "You're right, benefactor."
