"Yuxi," he softly called her name, his hand coming up to cup her cheek with infinite tenderness. "Do you remember anything that happened last night?"
Her smile faltered slightly, confusion flickering across her features. "Last night?" She seemed to search her memory, her brow furrowing with concentration. "I remember... You're holding me. Feeling safe."
She paused, her expression growing more uncertain.
"I had dreams, I think? But they're fuzzy now. Like trying to remember something through fog." Her eyes searched his face, taking in the exhaustion etched into every line, the dark circles that shadowed his eyes. Concern bloomed in her expression. "Why? Did something happen? You look so tired, Yunchen. Did you stay with me all night?"
Yunchen's throat tightened painfully.
She doesn't remember. She has no idea what she went through last night. No idea how she screamed and cried and begged.
