Tang Zichen started the car again, merging back onto the highway smoothly.
"You know," Tang Yuze mused, a teasing note entering his voice, "you two seem to get along remarkably well. Maybe you should try to win her over? Steal her away from Third Master Mu?"
He was joking, of course. But also... not entirely.
Zhou Yuxi was exactly the kind of daughter-in-law he would have chosen for himself, smart, capable, kind-hearted, and with a spine of steel when needed.
Tang Zichen snorted, shaking his head with a rueful smile. "Nah. She's your adopted daughter, which makes her my adopted sister. I like it that way."
He wasn't romantically interested in her, had never been. She was exactly what she'd said: a younger sister he wanted to protect, even if he was often powerless to do so in practical terms.
