Li Feng's stomach dropped. "You said he's stable."
"He is... medically. But there is another complication."
"What complication?" Li Feng demanded.
Dr. Hayes gestured to a small consultation room nearby. "It's better if we speak inside."
Li Feng followed, every step feeling heavier than the last.
Inside, Dr. Hayes pulled up Mu Yunchen's scans on the screen—images of the skull, brain tissue, swelling, things Li Feng didn't fully understand.
"The swelling from the head trauma is under control," the doctor explained. "However, we discovered an older injury."
Li Feng frowned. "Older?"
"Yes. A healed fracture. Right frontal bone. It occurred months ago, possibly longer."
Li Feng blinked.
Months ago?
He searched his memory frantically. Had there been an accident? A fall? Something Master had mentioned and he'd missed?
Nothing came to mind.
