Yuxi's careful composure crumbled.
She pulled the IV from her arm with trembling fingers, ignoring the small spurt of blood, and pushed herself up from the bed despite her body's protests. Her legs were unsteady, but she didn't care. She crossed the small space between their beds, nearly stumbling in her urgency.
"Yuxi, wait, you shouldn't..." Mu Yunchen started, but she was already there, climbing onto his bed with desperate, clumsy movements, not caring about IVs or monitors or medical equipment.
Her hands found his face immediately, cupping his cheeks with both palms, fingers trembling as they traced every feature like she was memorizing him through touch. His forehead, his cheekbones, the line of his jaw... mapping him, confirming he was solid and real and actually there.
"You're really here," she whispered, her voice breaking. "You're really awake."
Before he could respond, she kissed him.
