Time ticked by, second by second.
About fifteen minutes later, Seimei opened his eyes again.
A sharp glint flashed in his gaze.
A faint, irrepressible smile spread across his face.
Just as he'd expected, the boost in his chakra control had impacted every aspect of his abilities.
Not only did it save chakra during physical enhancement, but the 560 shadow clones he'd sent out also returned with noticeably less chakra loss.
On top of that, their task results were trending in a positive direction.
The 400 clones absorbing natural energy could now store even more of it.
Why did he recall these clones every hour instead of letting them gather enough natural energy before retrieving them all at once?
Because shadow clones were inherently unstable and could only hold so much natural energy.
But now, with his upgraded Chakra Control, these clones could use their own chakra to bind more natural energy under the same conditions.
While it still wasn't enough to extend the recall time, it meant that when his natural energy consumption increased later, he could reduce the number of clones.
For instance, in two months, when he stopped using the Mind's Reflection Technique and went all-in on physical enhancement, he might not need 550 clones to absorb natural energy.
Maybe 500 would be enough.
Even accounting for the extra 10 million points of chakra needed due to the change in training location, it'd still work.
As for the 160 clones working on the Bloodline Net?
Their changes were different but just as significant.
Now, with the same amount of chakra, he could run more experiments. That translated to more experience gained in the same amount of time.
This also boosted the evolution speed of his Wood Release, Lava Release, Ice Release, Storm Release, and Dust Release, which were passively enhanced by developing the Bloodline Net.
Originally, the increased number of clones—from 90 to 160—had already significantly sped up their evolution.
Now, it was even faster.
Before this attribute boost, his Wood Release, Lava Release, Ice Release, and Storm Release gained about 4 evolution points per day.
Dust Release, being a fusion of three chakra natures, was slower, averaging about 3.5 points daily.
After increasing the number of clones, the first four Bloodline Limits jumped to 7 points per day, while Dust Release hit 6 points.
Now, Seimei estimated the first four could reach 9 points per day, and Dust Release could hit 7.5.
A doubled evolution speed.
Maybe he could start looking forward to the boost in potential they'd bring once they leveled up again.
These thoughts flickered through his mind, but Seimei quickly pushed them aside.
Sure, their evolution speed had spiked, but expecting them to level up before his next physical transformation was unrealistic.
So, for now, he couldn't get his hopes up.
Snapping out of it, Seimei took a brief rest before diving into another round of training.
His earlier conclusions were just rough estimates from one test. To get a clearer picture, he'd need to run a few more cycles.
And so, time slipped by.
After a few more rounds, he did uncover some issues.
He'd initially thought the boost in Chakra Control was just saving him chakra during physical enhancement.
But that was just his old mindset, a result of continuing his usual training method after the upgrade.
While this did save chakra, it didn't push his body to its absolute limit.
That's right—his body's limit was based on the amount of chakra it could handle, not the training process or cycles.
In other words, he could still pour in the same amount of chakra as before.
With finer chakra control, he could achieve a higher enhancement speed.
Based on his rough estimate, this approach could shave about one and a half months off his transformation timeline.
Instead of ten months, it'd take roughly eight and a half months for his body to reach the transformation threshold.
Factoring in the past week of enhancement and the time saved after pausing the Mind's Reflection Technique in two months to redirect those six hours to physical enhancement, the final timeline might be just over six months.
It was mid-September now, so six months later would be mid-to-late March next year.
By then, his body would complete its transformation.
"Not bad!"
Seimei nodded, satisfied with the calculation.
Without wasting another second, he kicked off a new round of training.
And so, the days passed one by one…
---
Autumn faded into winter.
Two months flew by.
Late that night, in the northeastern Land of Fire, in that same primal forest, Seimei sat by a campfire, wrapping up his final round of the Mind's Reflection Technique.
He opened his panel and glanced at it.
His Sharingan's evolution had reached (99,660/100,000)!
Based on past experience, the remaining 400-ish points could easily be made up during his physical enhancement training and the moment of transformation.
So, Seimei decided to stop using the Mind's Reflection Technique to evolve his Sharingan.
From now on, he'd go all-in on physical enhancement to push his body to the transformation threshold as fast as possible.
But this meant he'd have to tap into his reserve chakra.
After a quick calculation…
Going full-speed on physical enhancement would bump his chakra consumption from 99 million (= 92 million + 7 million) to 130 million (= 120 million + 10 million).
That alone would increase his consumption by 31 million points.
To cover this, he'd need to increase the number of clones absorbing natural energy from 400 to 500.
Based on the past two months' experience, plus the chakra saved from his maxed-out Chakra Control, the additional chakra cost wouldn't be much—about 1 million points should do it.
That was only 50,000 points more than the 950,000 points he'd spent on 400 clones before the Chakra Control upgrade.
Add in the 3 million points saved by stopping the Mind's Reflection Technique, and his final chakra surplus would go from 11.8 million points to -27.932 million (= 11.8 - 31 - 0.05 + 3).
In other words, starting tomorrow, he'd need to pull 27.932 million points from his reserve chakra daily to keep up with training.
"Phew, not too bad."
Seimei let out a breath, muttering to himself that it was manageable.
Sure, pulling nearly 28 million points daily was a lot, but with his current chakra reserves, he could handle it.
After all, every ten days, on his rest day, he'd accumulate over 100 million points, averaging 10 million points per day.
So, his reserves could hold out for a while.
But it was clear that, without an extra chakra source, his recovery would no longer keep up with his consumption moving forward.
That added a slight sense of urgency to Seimei's heart.
