No one noticed when he arrived. As he was led through the back door, he watched the disgusting scene unfold through it.
He was carried into a room by a chubby man dressed in bright colors, with silver and gold rings on each finger, and three guards standing nearby.
One of the burly women approached the auctioneer and whispered something, nodding toward Thorn, and the man's eyes lit up. His gaze scanned Thorn's ears down to his legs like he was evaluating an object before he nodded in satisfaction.
"I'll take him. The auction house gets fifty percent of the profit from selling him," he said with finality, giving the woman no chance to bargain.
She frowned in anger and wanted to argue about the amount, but when she remembered the power backing the auction house, her anger was instantly cooled, as if she had been doused with a bucket of cold water.
