Chapter 424 - 424: The Advisory Group

For the next three days, Jason was endlessly examined by a group of gray-haired academics. They brought in experts from every discipline, using all kinds of high-tech, advanced-looking instruments.

"It's impossible!"

Professor Chang, an expert in high-energy physics and space, stared intently at his display. He pushed his black-rimmed glasses up his nose, his old face a mask of complete shock.

"There's nothing. Absolutely nothing. The planet's magnetic field hasn't changed. All electromagnetic signals are normal. We haven't detected a single abnormal particle fluctuation. It's unbelievable."

He murmured to himself, "How is he doing it?"

The other experts gathered around Jason, looking at the banks of complex experimental instruments. Every single reading was completely normal. They were all shocked numb.

This "normal" result was, ironically, the worst possible outcome. They would have preferred some strange readings, even if they couldn't explain them. Detecting nothing at all... it was bizarre. This situation was completely beyond their understanding of physics.

They were forced to conclude that modern science, with all its power, simply couldn't touch Jason's ability.

This left the experts speechless, scratching their heads and pulling at their hair in frustration. They just couldn't figure it out.

"It's our turn! Let Mr. Liu come to our group for testing!"

The biochemical team leaders were getting impatient watching the physics team stall. They immediately went over to Jason, who was lying on a medical bed covered in various monitoring probes, and pulled him up.

"Let's go!"

They began running toward the high-level laboratory on the other side of the base.

"Hey, old Zhang, wait a minute! We want to try it again!" Professor Chang called out anxiously, watching Professor Zhang from the biochemistry group drag Jason away.

"Hahaha, Chang, you can wait!" Professor Zhang called back, pulling Jason along. "You're not finding anything anyway. It's our turn!"

Jason, who was shirtless and wearing only a pair of shorts, just had a wry smile on his face.

"Uh... experts and professors," Jason said weakly, "you're not going to slice me up like a guinea pig, are you?"

He was being walked into a series of sterile, glass-walled labs that looked exactly like the ones in movies. He subconsciously remembered all the evil scientists in those films.

Of course, he didn't dare actually complain. These were national-treasure-level bigwigs. He couldn't risk having any opinions. If one of these "old grandparents" was injured, even slightly, it would be a huge loss for the country.

"Hahaha, don't worry!" an old professor surnamed Luo explained enthusiastically. "We wouldn't dare slice up our 'big baby.' We just need to do some tests for bacteria and viruses."

The professor explained that the next test was to see if Jason was bringing bacteria or viruses from one world to the other when he traveled.

Jason had already explained to them that, as far as he could tell, the "space gate" itself seemed to kill any bacteria and viruses when he crossed over.

But the experts insisted on testing it for themselves.

What could Jason do? He just had to cooperate.

Fortunately, during these few days of being locked up at the base—undergoing experiments he couldn't understand—he was still able to return to the world of A Song of Ice and Fire. He used the opportunities to pop back to Castle Black and arrange his affairs.

If he disappeared for too long, he was afraid his subordinates there would panic.

While Jason was being helplessly pulled from one experiment to another, the "Special Event Advisory Group" was officially formed by order of the senior leadership.

This group of top scholars, experts, and think tanks had already learned everything Jason knew about the situation in Westeros.

They had even prepared a preliminary plan, with the official title: "To Revitalize and Develop the Two World Economies and Strengthen Cultural Exchanges."

The experts in the advisory group were extremely excited. The fact that someone could actually travel to another world was mind-blowing. And the fact that it was the world of Game of Thrones, a hugely popular American show, made it even more surreal.

As the "world's factory," they immediately saw the potential. If they could establish trade with the world of A Song of Ice and Fire, it would mean gaining a source of cheap raw materials and a market potentially as large as half the modern world.

This was especially important now. The US president had been causing trouble for the past two years, engaging in trade frictions and driving the reversal of internationalization.

This made things uncomfortable for a country that relied so heavily on export trade.

But now, seemingly out of nowhere, their own country had a person who could communicate with an Otherworld. This meant it had a brand new, untouched primary consumer market. It might be a low-level market right now, and its consumption power might not be strong, but its potential was enormous.

The advisory group experts had studied George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" books back and forth. They even sent reporters to interview Martin himself, to inquire about more detailed information about the world—its population, resources, and even its "mysterious magic."

Because the Game of Thrones show was on fire, Martin was receiving interview requests every day. He was, of course, overjoyed to get an interview from a heavyweight Chinese media outlet. He happily accepted and revealed a lot of detailed world-building settings.

Based on the data from the books, as well as Martin's own narration, the consultant team could almost confirm that the world of A Song of Ice and Fire was a fantasy world Martin had based on Earth.

Perhaps the world was smaller than Earth—maybe three-quarters of the size—with a total population of only 200 to 300 million. It was vast and sparsely populated.

But in terms of resources, Martin's settings suggested the new world had everything the Earth had, and maybe even some things it didn't.

This was, in short, absolutely great news.

If nothing else, just thinking about the massive, untouched amounts of cheap iron ore, coal, oil, timber, arable land, and fishery resources made the leaders and experts tremble with excitement.

Everyone in the room knew that as long as they made good use of Jason's unique ability—and mastered the resources and markets in the world of A Song of Ice and Fire—the "great rejuvenation" of the nation would be accelerated beyond their wildest dreams.

So, after getting nothing useful from the base laboratory, the leaders immediately ordered the inspections to stop. It was time to start implementing the plan.

Jason was finally free from being frightened and fiddled with by the experts every day.

He returned to the advisory group and personally participated in the formulation of the plan. Based on his real-world experience in Westeros, he proposed many revisions and helped the group reach several agreements.

First of all, the entire project required Jason's full participation. He was, after all, the most critical person involved.
