Chapter 470 - Chapter 470: The Fall of the Red Keep

BANG. BANG. BANG.

The cold morning air was shattered as the artillery—relics of the 1960s and 70s—roared in unison. High-explosive shells streaked across the sky, slamming into the ancient stone of the Mud Gate with a deafening, earth-shaking thud.

The walls of King's Landing, which had stood for centuries as a symbol of power, disintegrated instantly. Stone turned to shrapnel, flying into the ranks of the defenders like bullets, shredding armor and flesh with mechanical indifference. Soldiers lucky enough to survive the initial blast were left broken and screaming, their cries drowned out by the continuous thunder of the cannons.

Duke Tywin Lannister, covered in dust and humiliated, was forced to flee the battlements under the frantic protection of his guards as the lords of the Reach and the West scrambled behind him in a panic. In less than three minutes of concentrated fire, the "impenetrable" wall was reduced to a crumbling heap of rubble. As the dust settled, the King's Landing garrison broke, dropping their swords and fleeing into the city in a frantic wave of chaos.

From the East Bank, Daenerys Targaryen and her council watched in stunned silence. Watching the modern footage had been one thing, but seeing the physical world torn apart by modern artillery was another entirely. Ser Jorah Mormont and the others finally grasped the terrifying scale of Jason's power.

As Jason's rifle-wielding soldiers surged through the breach, the resistance crumbled. The automatic rifles cut down any Lannister or Tyrell loyalists who dared to stand, and by midday, only the Red Keep remained uncaptured.

Jason, riding at the head of his guards, approached the Targaryen delegation. "Your Majesty Daenerys," he called out, his voice calm despite the smoke-filled air, "will you join us for the final act?".

Recognizing that her 100,000 troops were no match for guns and steel, Daenerys accepted the invitation. Leaving Grey Worm and Daario to secure the camp, she entered the city alongside Missandei, Ser Barristan, Ser Jorah, Varys, and Prince Quentyn.

The group rode through a path cleared by the commoners of King's Landing, who were already being directed by Northern and Riverland lords to clear the dead and the debris. The residents watched the two young rulers with a mixture of fear and weary acceptance; they cared little for who sat on the Iron Throne, so long as they were allowed to survive.

They reached the gates of the Red Keep to find it surrounded. The gates were barred, and terrified Lannister soldiers peered over the walls as three dragons circled ominously above.

The silence was broken by the arrival of Rubin and Kent. "Your Majesty," Rubin announced, his voice ringing out, "we have captured Tywin Lannister, Jaime Lannister, Duke Mace Tyrell, and Randyll Tarly".

The high-ranking captives were forced to their knees before Jason's horse. Their finery was tattered, their faces stained with blood and soot.

Jason looked down at the legendary Lion of Casterly Rock. "You have been defeated, Lord Tywin. Lord Mace," Jason said coldly. "Order the Red Keep to surrender immediately, or I will order its total destruction".

Tywin remained defiant, his blue eyes burning with silent rage. But Mace Tyrell, the "Inflatable Fish" of Highgarden, collapsed into a sobbing mess. "I surrender! The Reach submits!" Mace wailed, begging for mercy while his fellow Reach lords followed suit in a chorus of desperation.

"You bloody cowards!" Jaime Lannister spat, his face flushing with anger as he watched his allies and his own Western lords beg for their lives.

Daenerys stepped forward, her purple eyes fixed on Tywin Lannister—the man who had betrayed her family and presided over the murder of her kin. "Your Majesty Jason," she said, her voice trembling with years of stored fury, "I beg you to hand the Lannister family to me. I want to avenge my father and my blood".
