A few days passed as Naoki awoke one day like every other day, tired. He didn't even want to be awake but he had to get something useful done today. He yawned and sat up, He contemplated on sleeping in once again but he decided not to.
Suddenly his phone buzzed as he checked it, rubbing his eyes, it was a message from Kimura as he sighs and turns his phone off. Naoki puts his phone to the side and just goes back to sleep.
Kimura on the other hand was at a supermarket, wearing a leather jacket, sports pants and a pair of white and gray shoes. It said he looked at it… He was confused as to why Naoki wasn't responding to his text. Either way he shrugged it off, continuing to look through the isles that were present.
While he walked through the supermarket, he picked out some things that were essential to their dorm room. But he mostly picked out ingredients that were necessary while the other students were too lazy to buy them. Kimura looked at his list as he flipped it to see more on the next page. Great… Kimura sighs as he walks and continues to search.
After an hour or so of searching through the supermarket for everything on the list, he carries at least four bags, two in each hand. Thankfully the richest one was willing to pay for these… He sighs in relief knowing his card isn't going to die from it.
While Kimura stood there in a crowd and waited for the lights to turn green, while he waited he looked around Valor city a bit, staring up at the few skyscrapers that Valor City had. Looking down his eyes then saw the nearby net cafe and other shops that were in walking distance.
Suddenly he hears giggling as he looks where it was coming from, two small kids that were playing with each other while they waited. Kimura didn't pay much attention after seeing it was two kids, but he would catch everyone's attention mere moments later.
Suddenly the two kids burst out of the crowd and ran onto the crosswalks, running towards the other side of the crosswalk. Damn kids! Kimura thought as the crowd was having a bystander effect, someone should do something but no one wanted to make the first move. Suddenly one of the kids tripped as a nearby truck was coming straight for the kid.
"Trey!!" The other kid shouted as they ran and grabbed their friend's arm, pulling them up off their feet.
"Just go Ellie!"
Trey and Ellie then saw and heard the honking of the truck as Ellie was too late to drag Trey out of the way. Instead she was also in the way of the truck as Ellie held onto Trey, putting her back towards the oncoming truck.
Suddenly an individual rushes towards them and covers them as their shadow would spike and create a wall. The truck slams and in its tracks. The two kids would open their eyes as they would see who came to their aid.
The individual was Kimura, he rushed in as he lowered his shadow down as electrical sparks were bouncing off his body. Kimura looks at the kids and back at the truck, deactivating his mana in the process.
"Are you kids nuts?!? You could've died if I didn't intervene!" He scolds the kids first.
"You're…You're an esper…" Ellie comments a little scared but astonished.
"I am." Kimura replied.
Before Kimura could say anything more the police show up as they unholster their sidearms and aim directly at Kimura. "DON'T FUCKING MOVE! HEY KIDS GET AWAY FROM HIM!!" One of the officers shouts as Kimura looks dumbfounded.
"I just saved these kids, why-"
"JUST DON'T MOVE! Partner go get the kids to safety!" the officer shouts.
His partner nods as he slowly moves towards Kimura and the kids as he puts his sidearm away to get the kids away from Kimura. Kimura looks around seeing people with their phones out recording the whole ordeal, He sighs as he puts his hands up and behind his head, getting on his knees.
"You're under arrest for the violation of the Esper Pact Act, Espers are not allowed, at all times, to use their abilities or mana outside of certain or specific places!" The officer walks over shouting.
Kimura was put in handcuffs as he's helped up onto his feet, his hands behind him as Kimura settled into the backseat of a police convertible. Kimura wore a specialized bracelet around his locked wrist along with the hand cuffs.
The convertible then drove off with him inside, he didn't understand why he was being punished for saving the life of two children. Yet he's viewed in a negative light for doing such a small act. It didn't add up in his head or seem reasonable at all, but it was part of the passed global act, Espers are never allowed to use their abilities outside of academies or specified places.
"Was I in the wrong for saving those kids…" Kimura asked one of the officers.
They didn't respond as we continued to drive. Kimura dropped his attempts to ask as he knew any questions he asked would be used against him. It was just part of the system and he had to play along to get out scott free. They would go a couple of blocks down and reach the VCPD. Kimura was taken out as instead of the normal cells Kimura was placed in a Sequence Cell.
An extra pair of metal boxes for handcuffs were placed around his hands, leaving him entirely unable to escape the cuffs if he tried. Kimura sat in the cell as it wasn't the first time he's been in a sequence cell, although the last time he was let free from it.
He was younger at the time, but his action spoke more than his words those days as he still thinks the one sequence station session was completely needed. He rested his hands on the side as the metal boxes were heavy without any mana circulating through.
Being detained for saving a pair of children…it's better than seeing them lose their lives at least…
