Chapter 106 - CHAPTER : 106 : New Threat

Greenland, Siren Facility

Sep 10, 1942

3:00 PM

At the dark and cramped space that only be called a jail cell, as People the once passengers of the Ocean Liner were abducted by the Sirens when the Liner ended up in the snowy hell escape of arctic snow.

Many of them were male differs from age, and the youngest among them was 15 in the crowded cell that was filled with grown men. In the other cell was not as cramped as the other cell, because that particular cell is where the females are held captive along with the men.

The room is not that sanitary as the smell of the decay emanated inside as the lack of ventilation prevented it from escaping and contained inside. Some of the older prisoners were deprived so much that their skeletal figure was seen through their skin.

"Why? Why thus it have to be like this?"

The Youngman pleads inside his mind, why he and the others ended up like this in the first place. They were relocated from their home in Iron Blood and blamed their Jewish ancestry as a pest or virus that plagued Iron Blood for decades and led to its downfall. As they were displaced from their homes, they were promised paradise in a faraway paradise called Greenland.

(Greenland wasn't much known to everyone in the 1940s as we know as today, Greenland like its misleading name was believed to be as paradise, because of the name.)

They were all forced to relocate against their will, and boarded an Ocean Liner like everyone onboard they all anticipated paradise at the promised land that The Furher announced in his speeches. Those promises sink like ships with holes as those people who believed in his words are now in a place everyone can call hell.

They wait for anyone or someone to save them, and their wait turns into days, weeks, months – and nothing came. They all fall into despair that God may take their life out of mercy and end their suffering in the hands of their captors, The Sirens.

They were like livestock animals ready to be butchered, each day one was taken, and some didn't return. Those that return were totally traumatized by what they went through at the hands of the Sirens.

The female on the other hand had the smallest chance of returning once they were dragged out into their cell, many still could hear the woman screaming like they butchered alive. And that screaming was stuck in everyone's head as they only feel death inside this hell hole.

But then, they heard some peculiar noises like a rapid firing of a firearms and explosions at the other side of the room that they were in. The sound of continuous gunfire and explosion followed by a shrieking Sirens can be heard.

They were all surprised to hear a gunshot and explosion as they were only accustomed to hearing the humming sound that the Siren devices produced and the constant screams of their experimentation.

"Wa-what was that?" The Youngman asked, as a resounding thud can be heard at the door.

The Siren that was guarding the cell walks toward the door to intercept any of the intruders that are trying to open the door. The Youngman looked at the door with anticipation that it was their savior.

*Kaboom, kachuk, Kaboom, kachuk, Kaboom, kachuk*

It was the only sound he heard as the action was too quick for his eyes to follow as the darkness of the room deprived his eyesight from retaining his vision.

At that quick second, he saw the three Sirens that were guarding them lay dead at the floor bath in their yellow blood.

He glances at the open door, and there he sees a figure in Maid's uniform holding a shotgun, behind her are a bunch of Yellow Fat Chickens with looks like guns in hand.

"Is everyone alright?" one of the yellow chickens talked to them.

His eyes almost dropped from his sockets as this was the first time he heard a Chicken speak to them. It was a confusing experience for the Youngman.

"Alright, looks like everyone is alright." Skipper said, as he then motioned to Rico for the Heavy Bolt Cutter.

Rico with the Heavy Bolt Cutter starts cutting down the cell bars like it was nothing to the Heavy Bolt Cutter that cuts through them seamlessly.

"To those who can walk please step out so that we can give those unable to stand up some space for our medic." He said as he motioned with his hands for them to follow, he could only speak a few in Deutsch.

The prisoners seemed confused by his words as they sounded to them like garble-garbles to them. They all just tilted their head in confusion at the talking chicken in front of them giving some instructions.

"Skipper... I think they didn't understand your German." Kowalski said.

"Ah, damn it."

"Let me handle this," Kent said as she translated to them what Skipper just said, and how they were all safe as they were there to save them.

Kent and the Manjuus help the Abducted People who are really in need of medication and give those who are starving for weeks and months something to eat. As they get all those people that need medication treated a sudden and urgent call at the comms got their attention.

"Go, I'll handle this." Sheffield said, as Kent was needed on the other side of the room immediately.

Arizona sends a distress call for a medic as he receives a shrapnel wound from the abdomen, it's not that deep but the cut is severe and needs some immediate treatment. So he waited for the medic to arrive as he let the two continue to search the room for any Siren left inside.

.

.

At the Siren Lab

Arizona lay back at the wall as he holds his wound from blinding even further, the handkerchief that Edinburgh gave to him is a big help in preventing blood loss.

Kent seeing him like that goes into action and starts patching up his wound with bandages, the wound isn't that deep but the cut is severe so the patching may be difficult to handle but it was patched later on.

"How is he?" Sheffield asked about Arizona's wellbeing.

Arizona responds in his typical sternness. "I'm alright, just a shrapnel. The critical organs were spared by the Kevlar."

Sheffield just stared at him not fonned at his boldness, she warned him often about the danger, not the typical of her but his. Arizona was the one giving waring and cautions.

"Just shut-up and take some rest." She said, mimicking his undertone and delivery.

"Yes. Sheffield was right, you're to injured and needed some rest," Kent said as she finished patching the wound.

"I think we should leave... resting here would make us more vulnerable." He said, with a hint of disagreement at the two.

Arizona slowly got up from his seated position as he was assisted by the two, he wore again his damaged vest and headed inside the room where the other two were conducting a search.

"Anything important information we could use?" He asked Seattle and Edinburgh.

"No, nothing. We didn't find any importance only these." Seattle reported as she motioned at the blinking and slightly damaged screen.

"Looks like they were in a hurry of some sort."

Arizona commented as he saw some of the equipment were yanked out of their position and some were destroyed to prevent capture. Now the files on the screen were all destroyed beyond recovery.

"An emergency evacuation." Sheffield added, as she too noticed the lack of other Executor-Class.

"yeah by the looks of it." Arizona agreed. "This is what Miss Enterprise feared... the Sirens are up to something, and we couldn't even predict their next move."

After a moment of silence, as they assess the damage and find any clues they could use to predict the Siren's next move, Arizona issued an order.

"Grab anything we could use against the Sirens. We're going to blow this place apart."

Everyone scrambled to gather any devices they could use, but most of them were useless as it didn't hold any value.

Skipper and Kowalski grab any files they can find inside the lab in the sack they brought, they were like thieves stacking papers on a sack at a quick pace that looks like cartoonish.

"Are you sure this is the right file? I mean... it could just be a list of anything else." Kowalski asked as he had no idea what kind of files they were shoving into their sack.

"I don't give a crap if it's important or not as long it has a longer paragraph, shove it in!" Skipper said, as he shoved more papers into his sack.

Kowalski shrugs and shoves more papers into his sack just like Skipper.

Outside the Siren Facility

Everyone gawked at the sight of the Siren Facility that was embedded in the ice like it one with it, the Ocean Liner Passengers didn't see it once in harsh weather as they were brought along to the Facility by their captors.

The Siren Facility is well hidden enough for the naked eye to see in far, but the shape and alien marking blows it all in a clear day as stood as sore of thumb.

"Is everyone accounted?" Arizona asked as he glanced at the rescued people beside them.

"Yes, everyone is accounted." Sheffield confirmed as rescued people nodded in unison along with some mumble-garbles.

"Okay.... Is everyone want to see some American Fireworks?" Arizona asked the rescued people.

They were confused about the word fireworks, as they didn't know what he meant by that. murmurs and chatter rose-up as they know what a Firework is, but are confused as to why they had Fireworks in the afternoon.

Arizona manages a small smirked as the reaction was way beyond his expectation from them, he then flips open the safety cover of the remote detonator.

"Everyone..." he calls for their attention. "watch... was the fire of liberation burn the cages that withheld you for days."

After gaining their attention at the Siren Facility. Arizona flipped the switch, the whole Siren Facility exploded as the C-4 they planted inside detonates.

The explosion blows the entire Facility along with the ice it was embedded in, the whole ice collapses and covers the now destroyed Siren Facility, as white smoke rose-up from the combination of melting ice and fire at the subsequent explosion.

The rescued people cheered as they witnessed the destruction of the place that taunted them for weeks, as it was consumed by flames. It burned along with the memories of pain they felt and were glad to see it gone.

Sheffield spoke as she watched the people they rescued cheer, as tears of joy flowed to their eyes that were filled with relief.

"I sometimes questioned why you Americans referred to a big explosion as a 'Fireworks' even though it is...." She said as a smile form on her face. "Now I know why you call it that way."

She glanced at him. "Seeing these people cheered at the destruction of the place that taunted them in fiery explosion gives some relief in their hearts."

"I don't know what you mean by that, but yeah. American fireworks do give some relief to some of the people in their hearts." Arizona said.

He breaks a glance with her and declares to everyone about their ride. "Our ride will arrive within 10-min, so I want you all to follow the procedures."

As everyone waited a continuous chopping sound could be heard from behind them, they all took a glace a silhouette of a dozen aircraft came into view, and it was also followed by a shrieking sound. An angular aircraft with a dark grey color flew above as white contrails were left in its wake.

Skipper fired a red flare indicating their location as dozens of MV-22 Osprey came into view.

USS Essex LHA-12

Off the Coast of Greenland 50 Miles away

The sound of rhythmic hums of computers and conversing Meowfficer that sounded marble-garbles, at the center a large screen showed some of the head figures that is in White House along with President of Eagle Union.

Essex-12 started her report. "According to Arizona's report, his team found some of the remaining Sirens evacuating at their secret Facility in Greenland. Many of the devices that may contribute the their 'Breeding Program' were found removed and destroyed. The numbers of Siren they expected inside the Facility were in smaller numbers than we anticipated, it's not also surprising for them to find out the lack of guards guarding the entrance. Currently, the Facility was blown and saved the people that were abducted by the Sirens."

At the screen, FDR spoke. "They know that their Secret Facilities location is uncovered, and now they were in a rush to remove any of the evidence that they were there before."

"Not just that." Essex-12 said as she caught everyone's attention.

"My aerial reconnaissance also found other shipwrecks lying by around the Shipwreck where Arizona and his team found the other survivors." She pressed a button showing the captured image from above with a higher resolution.

"What you were looking at is an entire Ocean Liners buried in snow, by the looks of it, this kind of abduction was going on for years now as you can see how the other shipwrecks were buried in the snow and only their smoke stack can be seen. According to one of the survivor's testimony, the entire Ocean Liner was 'Teleported' in the blink of an eye as they found themselves stuck in the snow."

Every head of the Military and Political figure were panicking to find out how the Sirens were abducting people; they were using teleportation to abduct people. Now another question in their heads arises from this revelation - did they use this teleportation in smaller cities inland?

Enterprise-80 raised a hand at the screen to let everyone know. "The Survivor's testimony matches the same phenomenon that the Azur Lane Task Force that was sent to Midway Islands to intercept Sakura Empire's Forces. According to them, they found themselves in a Siren dimension called Mirror Sea. So it means the Sirens were capable of teleporting an entire fleet without opening multiple portals."

That didn't help, as everyone was in a panic like a nuclear war had just broke-out as various heads of the Military and Politicians were in chaos about the situation.

Gen. Eisenhower spoke as his voice was filled with terror. "Would that also mean the Sirens can also conduct an invasion by teleporting an entire army division inland?"

Everyone looks at her as if they anticipated something favorable to them, but the possibilities of Siren's capability beyond their expectation linger in the air.

"Probably."

She said as the look of despair was plastered at everyone's faces. Now the probability of the Siren teleporting army size division inland is real and shouldn't be just left out of consideration.

FDR saw the chaos in the meeting room go out of control as Military heads and Political heads threw some hypotheses about might the Sirens do in that capability. The chaos was unbearable as some of the hypotheses were too outlandish and beyond the realm of possibilities, but. They were fighting an enemy that could travel between dimensions, so many of their hypothesis may be possible and that was concerning.

"Enough!"

He shouted, as he slammed his palm at the table making everyone fall into silence, as his visible pucker is now visible to everyone as seriousness emanated from him.

He began. "Put the whole nation in curfew, I will address the people about this looming threat. We can't have any Siren Troops in Eagle Union Mainland, the devastation in Mainland Europe was enough of an eye-opener to those who witnessed the sheer destruction."

He glances at them, as they wait for his last word. "I want all the Military Branches to be on high alert. Our complacency may cost us lives that we cannot afford to lose. I want all the Military Heads and Branches to work together to resolve this looming threat, it is better to safe than sorry."

He said as every Military Head couldn't prioritize their own pride and budgetary proposal, they're protecting Millions of lives and prioritizing one ego was disastrous, to say the least.

Gen. Eisenhower spoke. "Mr. President. The Army Reserve will be put into active service, as we may not know the date of their invasion."

Gen. Lemay spoke. "The Army-Air Corp. Reserve will be put into active service, just like the Army. Older plane models from the 30s will be brought back into service as we lack aircraft airframe numbers. The factories are currently and slowly building jet aircraft for the planned Mainland Europe invasion."

Adm. King reported some good news. "The Navy's Shipgirls are put into ready along with their Ships, were lucky that it didn't take that much long. The repairs are going smoothly and within weeks they may hit the waters than we anticipated."

Enterprise-80 gives her own response. "My Squadron of Fighters will protect the skies over Washington D.C. Currently, my Carrier is cruising along with its escorts at the East Coast in preparation for a surprise attack in mainland Eagle Union."

FDR then looked at one of the Diplomatic Staff. "Inform the Royal Navy, Sakura Empire, Maple Monarchy and the rest of the Alliance about our current discovery, they might need to prepare for some unforeseen events that could endanger Millions of lives."

The Diplomatic Staff immediately went into the different nation's embassy to inform them about the new threat that loomed over Azur Lane.

"Now that problem was partially resolved. Any report with the remaining Siren Facilities?" FDR asked as if the air was a ticking bomb waiting to explode.

"Bunker Hill and the rest of the diplomatic members from other factions are currently on route to Northern Parliament. We're kinda lucky as the ice sheets at the Port of Murmansk are not that thick this month."

Azur Lane Alliance really wanted some explanation from the Northern Parliament about the existence of one Siren Facility inside their border. Some speculate that Stalin and his Government Staff are in cahoots with the Sirens about their technology advancements. The evidence was as high as the once farmland now it was industrialized beyond some experts' speculation as to why they advanced so much when they were behind by decades compared to Azur Lane's Technology.

Now the existence of a Siren Facility in their backyard Siberia gives credibility to that speculation of others. The intention of Bunker Hill-76's visit was not just for diplomatic but also for spying, the Aegis Radar Base line-10 and other electronics can detect low radio transmission, and with that, they can spy at some degree that it didn't raise any suspicion that Northern Parliament security.

FDR let out a sigh as some of the tension in the room levitated. "It's a matter of time before we find out what is a Siren Facility doing there, and if Stalin really let this one Siren Facility built there."

He then glanced at the Director of OSS (Office of Strategic Service or what we call it in modern-day CIA) and spoke.

"Any report at your agency about Northern Parliament?"

The director of OSS turned his attention to the President and slowly responded. "A little information we gathered about what the Northern Parliament is planning."

Everyone in the room is not keen to like the OSS for its fuck-ups in gathering information. The current controversy surrounding the agency is they let some of their guards because of incompetence and now some of the Axis Spies got hold of some of the top-secret files and Northern Parliament Spies managed to breach some top-secret weapons development.

"Our spies can't report properly as most of their Facilities are positioned in remote and isolated lands. Most of their reports are sometimes outdated as they have to travel to some cities and contact our hidden communication lines. Our men on the ground are not sufficient enough to gather information without getting caught."

Gen. Lemay and the other Military heads held their temple as annoyance were visible wrinkles on their foreheads.

"You got to be shitting me.... Those bastards manage to steal some of the top-secret files without breaking a sweat, and your goddamn men can't even update us on what is going on inside Moscow!"

"What you asked for my men to do was beyond their capability. Northern Parliament was more militarized than Iron Blood. And most of all their Military bases and Facilities are located in a remote place that even electric grid couldn't reach! Hell, even Iron Blood got their countryside connected with an electric grid!" The Director of OSS releases his frustration, as being a Director of such an agency that dealt with most of the dirty stuff of spying.

"We're lucky that there are Tsar loyalists on our side and helping our men in their endeavors of gaining crucial information about their weapons development."

Everyone sunk into their seat in contemplation of the matter. Azur Lane is dealing with an Alien threat and eminent invasion, while they have their own war with each other in politics. The world has never seen such divided in the face of Alien threat.

Enterprise-80 is in her deep contemplation about the looming threat of Sirens and other nations. Yes, she can handle the other nation's problem, but the Siren threat will be left unsupervised.

'I can't send Arizona as he was injured along with his Submarine that needed some major repairs, he can't dive deeper than before. Denver is in Sardigna Empire gathering key information for our next offensive.... Damn it! I wish there were more submarines I could use to gather crucial information about Northern Parliament secrecy.' She thought.

"Alright.... Enough of that, we can't just blame others for our own failures. What's done is done, we just need to learn from it and adapt."

FDR said as everyone shamefully nodded their heads in agreement, they can't just blame the others for their shortcomings, for now, they need to face their primary threat.... The Sirens.

"Is there any news about the remaining Siren Facility?" He asked as they all shifted their gaze at the photo of the other Siren Facilities.

The location of the remaining Siren Facility is positioned on an island, on a lake, on an island. The high-resolution photo showed a picture of Taal Volcano in the Philippines.

"Our former colony that fell on the first days of Siren invasion." Gen. Eisenhower said as he knew the place too well along with the other Generals before him.

The Philippines fell after the days of the Siren invasion of Mainland Europe. Eagle Union held that place as Siren Forces attacked the Far East to render any assistance in Europe from their Asian Allies. The Philippines become battle royals like the Sakura Empire, Royal Navy, Eagle Union and Smaller Nations in Europe like the Netherlands.

The fighting was fierce and caused the desolation of the Asiatic Fleet of Eagle Union as the tropical weather hindered most of their Shipgirls in adapting to the climate. It was all lost for Azur Lane in their retreat. Cities were destroyed, the population fled into the forest and their whereabouts are unknown to Azur Lane.

No further plans of recapturing it in the following years, now that the Sirens were driven off many planned to return to the war-turn island nation.

"Yes. Our former colony. Currently, we still don't know any data about its people the day it falls, it has been past 30 years since we set foot on it."

"Our strategic retreat that caused millions of lives to perish, and caused the thousands of men got surrounded and captured." FDR murmurs, as those topics were to controversial.

The 'strategic retreat' they called to ease public opinion, that retreat caused the destruction of dozens of cities in the Philippines and lives, their men were encircled at Bataan Peninsula as they held the remaining stronghold in the island nation. Nobody knows what happened to those men and women as it was 30 years had passed.

'The Philippines.... Why is it that when it comes to war you always have the role of speedbump to slow any adversaries? South Korea and Japan are the rising bollards, and Taiwan is the sacrificial lamb.... What strategic thinking out there, DOD.' Enterprise-80 thought as the conversation leaned to the Philippines.

"Alright. Who are the ones tasked with assaulting a Siren Facility in the Philippines?" FDR asked.

Enterprise-80 responded, as she broke off from her contemplation. "That would be Lafayette's Group and Gen. MacArthur."

Gen. Eisenhower spoke. "Gen. MacArthur and his Expeditionary Force is currently tasked with finding out any remaining settlers in the island nation. Assaulting the Siren Facility at the hands of the Kansens and Manjuus, we cannot risk any men near the facility."

Enterprise-80 also added. "I'm also re-routing Lucas and his Group at the Philippines to render assistance if the Siren shows up in massive force."

Everyone understood the need for support, as they didn't know of the Siren's next plan of action now that a land invasion loomed over Azur Lane.

"By the way.... How are you going to rebuild the war-torn nation, if there are no remaining legitimate government bodies left?" Enterprise-80 inquired as she read some plans for the island nation.

FDR looked at the Secretary of State, and everyone followed suit. The Secretary of State stood from his seat and spoke up.

"Currently we have few of that remaining legitimate government body living on the west coast. There's a Filipinotown in Los Angeles, California where the remnants of Philippine government heads live in exile."

FDR nods. "Looks like we don't have to worry about Philippine Government reconstruction. Now, the remaining problem is to find any remaining settlers on the island."

Philippine Sea

.

.

A Task Force consisting of Carriers, Battleships and Escort ships along with some LSTs carrying the troops and their vehicles. Leading the Task Force is a Guided Missile Frigate as the waves gently splash on its bow at its cruising speed.

At the bridge right wing of the Frigate, Lafayette is gazing at the horizon as the chill humid air breeze passes through him, the sensation is still the same as the last time he visited the place, as a ship of course.

"Back into this place again." He muttered to himself, as he through the horizon.

"Have ever been to the Philippines?" Laffey-459 asked, as she sat at the Capt. Seat.

He turns around to face her. "Yes. I've been through to the Philippines multiple times for port calls. Well... most of it was like cruising around the West Philippine Sea (according to the 2030s Philippine Map) to deter Chinese Vessels from harassing Filipino Fishermen."

"Why are they harassing the Fishermen?" Unicorn asked.

"Yeah, why would they harass a simple Fisherman." Javelin also asked.

"I'm not a history teacher to give you guys a run-down of a geopolitical mess of Asia, but a simple explanation. Everyone is grabbing islands on the West Philippine Sea to claim ownership of any resource deposited under."

"Did they get the islands back?" Unicorn asked, curious about the topic.

Lafayette's brows twitch as small bullets of sweat form on his forehead. He knows taking those islands by force would spark a war that everyone in the region or even the international community trying to avoid. As America and China played a game of 'Don't touch my boats' as China played it 'Don't touch my historically claimed islands.'

"Well.... ---"

His response was cut off as one of the patrol planes sent a radio transmission. "This Patrol No. 5. I spotted an island 14 nautical miles away."

Lafayette ordered one of the Meowfficers to inform the fleet, as they were now entering Philippine Territorial Waters.
