Shilo's gone, taken by the Mayor and his men while we were too busy burning down the church. Everyone else is in the town square dealing with the aftermath. The people here have been so brainwashed by the Mayor that I'm sure they are rioting at this very moment. That's why Sam sent me away.
I've been pacing in front of the windows of this house's living room for an hour now, it's a wonder how I haven't burned a trail in the linoleum. I could be out looking for Shilo and Avery, but I know Sam is right. People need time to calm down.
Still, I feel utterly helpless. What will it take to convince them that their loved ones were beyond a cure? How can I get them to believe that their Mayor was wrong? That it wasn't just wrong to keep the infected but to allow them the mindless suffering of their... condition? To allow his people this false hope of a cure?
